The Leatherhead (2012) Thread

This is a thread specific to Leatherhead as seen in the 2012 Nickelodeon series. Feel free to discuss anything you'd like, so long as it's about the 2012 character.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...eatherhead.png

The 2012 Leatherhead is so far my favorite portrayal of the character, both in personality and character design. Peter Lurie did an excellent job giving the character a voice that can be both intelligent and savage, reflecting Leatherhead's fits of rage brought on by the Kraang's experimentation.

Icebot 12-24-2012 03:25 AM

I haven't seen the episode he's in yet but I think the 2012 Leatherhead looks creepier than any other Leatherhead I've ever seen.

pannoni1 12-24-2012 08:25 AM

This topic should be moved over to the Nick forum. I like this Leatherhead since it just feels more like a large pet compared to the others and has a decent personality (Chicken soup reminds me a bit of the gumbo that the 1989 Leatherhead would enjoy). He also has much more fluid motion with fighting as he can take down many Kraang at once. He may look a bit creepy and have a temper problem. His voice suits this version very nicely. It also remains faithful to the Mirage Tales #6 story despite no presence of the Foot as his origin story tells him.

Sorry about that.. I was thinking that for the sake of Donnie's character directory that this should be here. But you're right, it needs to be in the Nick section.

If a mod stops by, can you please move this over to Nick? Thanks! :tgrin:

I like him so far a lot, but too early to say if he'll be even better than 2003 version. Now my biggest fear will be, like it was with 2003 LH, that he's gonna get killed sometime in the series.

BubblyShell22 12-25-2012 08:18 AM

I really liked his debut and think he's great. I hope we see more of him down the road and that he helps the Turtles out again.

That fear struck me as well. He did say he was willing to die to stop the Kraang from taking over Earth. Hopefully with the help of The Turtles that will not be necessary!:tsad:

wait a minute!..I love the 2003 series and enjoyed that leatherhead very much..his role in the season 3 finale was a pretty great double episode in my oppinion..I havent been able so far to see all of the last season and parts of season 4, but where does he get killed?!?!did I miss this totally?
can somone tell me again?

NinjaPug 12-25-2012 11:38 AM

I think the poster meant he will be worried that he will die, much like he was worried he would die in the 03 series. From what I remember, Leatherhead didn't die in the 03 series.

Ninjinister 12-25-2012 01:05 PM

Yeah, ol' LH was present in the last episode of the series, at Casey and April's wedding. He cried.

go_ninja84 12-25-2012 02:29 PM

i was kinda surprised to see Leatherhead as a friend to the turtles i kinda like it

Gyt Kaliba 12-25-2012 03:08 PM

This was definitely a cool and unique look for Leatherhead in this version of the show. I like the way he seemed to move actually like an alligator too, especially his head movements. For some reason, it was a bit odd to see him and Mikey bond though. Maybe I'm just too used to what I've seen of 2K3 where it was mainly him and Donnie.

BubblyShell22 12-25-2012 05:15 PM

Just watched LH's episode today and I still can't get over how awesome it was.

LH 12-26-2012 09:50 PM

I watched the "itunes exclusive concept remix" today and thought it was funny that when they showed the "villians" concept art they included Leatherhead in the mix. Of course it was released long before the episode, so it was most likely to throw people off.

..and also, there is an episode coming up called "Enemy of My Enemy".. does anybody know the plot to that? Could this be another LH episode?

CyberCubed 12-26-2012 09:56 PM

Enemy of my Enemy sounds like someone who would team up with the Turtles against either Shredder or The Kraang,

It is possible its another Leatherhead ep where they go after the Kraang.

That's what I was thinking. Unless they introduce another character, I'm going to go with that.:tlol:

BubblyShell22 12-27-2012 09:16 AM

Really? Sounds like a good episode name, and I'd love it if LH was in it.

Lethal Lullaby 12-27-2012 03:00 PM

Ah yes. Leatherhead. One of my favorite characters from the 2k3 series. :) Can't wait to see him some more in this series.

LH 12-27-2012 03:45 PM

Yeah, It's nice to see Mikey finally has a friend too. You know, after the Chris Bradford incident and the whole "Nobody wants to be with Mikey" thing from "The Gauntlet".

Stinger911 12-29-2012 01:03 AM

Nice episode. One of the funniest yet. Loved the scene where the other turtles are told that Mikey freed him from the chains and the camera pans to him holding teacups and looking innocent as can be.

haha, yeah.. and that sound effect his mouth makes when it opens!:tlol:

jestermon 01-09-2013 09:54 AM

Haven't seen the show but when the toy comes out it would be tempting to make him a vest and pants.

I will forever think of him as a bad guy since I grew up on the original.

That would make for a really cool custom!:tgrin: I think it would be cool to see April don her OT counterpart's jumpsuit in a future wave.:tlol:

Shark_Blade 01-10-2013 08:12 PM

I love the big guy.

My only encounter of him was as a boss battle in the sewer of TMNT 3: Manhattan Project, and Turtles in Time. So I'm very pleasantly surprised that he turned out to be an ally to the turtles this time around. And his brand new look in HD CGI glory is amazing too.

tmntpower1988 01-15-2013 08:11 PM

The 2012 Leatherhead is the craziest one so far, "He had me by the face Mikey!".

LH 03-11-2013 10:44 PM

I'm kind of curious.. I wonder how deep those Gromits are in LH's arms and legs. They look like they hurt, and I'm sure the Kraang weren't kind enough to numb him during installation..

Shark_Blade 03-12-2013 12:17 AM

I assume gromits are those brown straps on his arms and legs? (I only found this guy from google:

http://s7.postimage.org/yg19lpqu3/index.jpg)

Anyway ,judging from the pic, there's round shaped buttons on them. I think it's where they inject liquid stuff into him or something there? I need to watch the episode again.

LH 03-12-2013 12:33 AM

Awesome pic! Yeah, judging by the tubes i'm thinking they were used for Mutagen or other liquids. Though he was suspended in fluid, so they could have been for life support. I was just wondering if they were open (exposed flesh deep in the center) or if they were closed off.

Shark_Blade 03-12-2013 12:41 AM

Yeah, I'm thinking it's kinda like this:

http://s10.postimage.org/kbr2787o9/220px_ICU_IV_1.jpg

Poor Leatherhead. :(

I think the wounds are closed. Lemme check a pic.

http://s21.postimage.org/v8meq66k7/t...t67o8_1280.png

Yep, it's closed. Maybe those round thingy opens when you protrude tubes into it. *shivers*

Maybe they're water tight?

he's probably so tough he doesn't feel it...or he's used to it.

now I feel bad for LeatherHead and I don't even know if it's true XD

LH 03-12-2013 01:15 AM

Yeah.. *shivers* Can you imagine how much that must burn in the water? Not to mention infection from the sewer water..

Maybe they're water tight? Maybe the Kraang have some sort of advanced IV system that locks in around that black circle and.. goes into his arm.

Yeah, he's probably used to it by now. Still, it hurts to think about the size of the holes those things had to make...:tcry:

You've seen The Matrix, right? My guess is it was inspired by that. Looks almost identical to the plugs Neo had in The Matrix.

That's because it's spelled grommets. Most people get that wrong, even the people who drew the official concept art.

Actually I have never seen the Matrix! Thanks for that comparison though, I will have to do some research on those.. :twink:

Hehe, sorry about that! I have Ciro's concept art of Leatherhead hanging on my wall, so I just went over to that for the spelling. :tlol:

LH, yeah! Love this guy. Great design, great character. I always did have a soft spot for the mildly-psychotic-tortured-soul-with-a-heart-of-gold types. :D

Nice screenshots! :tgrin:

After we talked about Leatherhead's grommets yesterday, I thought it would be cool to try and recreate them using parts from the auto store. These are what I created last night:

First of all let me say that that looks cool. Secondly, Leatherhead. I like him, he's a pretty cool dude, definetly one of my favorite secondary good guys. I'm glad they went the 2k3 route with him, made his eyes change colors and all that though I do have to admit I would giggle if he ever said "ah guarantee" somewhere down the line  I don't know I just find the character interesting and his friendship with Mikey adorable.

Thanks!:tsmile:

I am also glad that they decided to make him like the 2k3 Leatherhead, who is also very awesome.:twink::tthumbsu:

I thought this Leatherhead was amazing. This show keeps getting better and better. I would like to see him make cameos a few times every season. Not too much though. He's special and when he shows up we should know it's for something huge.

Like a season finale.:twink:
