Power Con 2013
anyone going? my gf and i have already started saving up for the travel and expenses. it's only $50 for the 3 day pass, so it's really about making sure we can actually get there, eat and have some spending cash.
if you dont know, it's a he-man, she-ra, thundercats (and for the first time in 2013) a tmnt themed con being held in mid-september in torrance, ca. if anyone else is going, maybe we can do a dromer meet up or lunch or dinner or something. this is gonna be my second con ever and first since 1998. its gonna be dope! |
I've never heard of it before but since it's only a few hours away from me I'm a bit intrigued by it. Though 5 hours and the money it would require might be a bit much for me at the moment for what would essentially be solely a TMNT con as I don't really have any interest in any of the other shows that the con is made for. Still, I do hit up the local anime con every year even though I have relatively zero interest in anime anymore, so maybe this might be a nice switch up from the usual. In any case it'd be nice to know there are Turtle fans just as geeky as I am.
I wish the website had more information on it, but I'll show it to my sister who'd probably want to go with me. It still sounds pretty cool and since it's far away enough we'll have time to work things out if we really want to go :) |
I've always wanted to hit PowerCon. Everything Ive heard from it makes it sound great.
|
Heh. I used to hang out on He-Man.org waaaaaaay back in the day, and to be honest, the 16 year old nostalgic dweeb in me kind of wants to go this year. But with C2E2 and possibly other conventions in the Midwest, and the fact it's in California... I may have to pass.
'Sides, I'm more of a fan of the 2k12/Nick TMNT, so that complicates things. =V |
Oh I'd so love to go...but alas I live on the other side of the country...:ohwell:
|
I've never heard of it either, but not to far from me.

Anyhow, to sort of keep this on topic, to those who have gone the last 2 years: does this feel like one of those podunk-y cons (I went to Mid-Ohio-Con in '07, before they were bought up by Wizard, and it was def. podunky: barely any panels, few celebrities, mostly hinged around the dealers room, and lots of Stormtroopers) or is there some major substance to it? |
Hmmm it's down there near Santa Monica... I see... well, I live in the bay area so I usually go to Wondercon... BUT this year and last year they moved Wondercon to Anaheim due in part to construction in 2012 and now in 2013 due to politics. No word on if they will come back to San Francisco in 2014 :(
It's really frustrating when your local con decides to move SO FAR away to where attending is a huge pain in the butt. So no, no conventions for me this year. Siiigh. I am saving up for a Disneyland trip so I can't go out of my way to attend a niche con like this right now... hope you guys have fun and report back with lots of great pics. |
I would love to go to power con but as one Dromer put it it's just to dang far.
P.S. if anyone is going to Power con and Rob Pauslen is signing. Could someone get my his sig? I missed a change to get one when I met him in TN.Again, would really appreciate it. If you do met him he is a great guy. |
I'm planning on going to Farpoint near Baltimore President's weekend to see Rob Paulsen, and my family won't be going to CA until 2014-15, so this is a pass, despite being close to LAX. Zodiac Brave, your home con is Lonestar Comic Con, and a couple TMNT alumni, including the original voice of April O'Neil (Renae Jacobs), Jan Rabson (Kurma from the Turtleoids episodes), and Robbie Rist (Moive Michelangelo) are attending.

I love He-man, She-Ra, and ThunderCats! He-man is my favorite toy line and cartoon series of all time. However, I don't live even close to Power-Con so I definitely will not be attending. To be honest, I'm not really a "convention guy" so, unless it was held down the street from where I live, I most likely wouldn't go anyway. Though, I must admit, it sounds pretty neat.
|
I'm def going. I went to the last two cons and had a blast. I love that tmnt has been added into the mix.
|
man, I would have loved to have gone, especially the idea of us having some sort of Technodrome Forum lunch so we can meet and greet. But yeah, Cali is just too far and I don't really see it happening.
|
I don't think I'll be able to make it (other side of the country). Would any of you be interested in coming on the show after the con to talk about it? I know it's still several months out but we'd love to have some fans on our show to discuss it afterwards.
|
Now that they included the TMNT I'm totally checking it out!
|
townsend coleman (along with larry kenney from thundercats and christina pickles from the masters of the universe movie) have been named as the first confirmed guests.
also, the hotel is already half-booked. they have some kinda discount if you stay at the same hotel where the con is being held...dunno the details, tho, as the gf is doing all the reservationy type stuff. but if you're thinking of going, you might wanna book soon to take advantage. im still interested in a meet-up of some kind if anyone else from here is going, too. |

I wonder when will they start selling tickets. I'm really looking forward to this event.
|
Well, any notion of possibly going to this is out the window for sure for me: I got passes to SDCC last weekend, so that fills up my 'out of state convention' quota this year, lmao.
|
I wondering if anyone could hook me up with Townsend Coleman's sig? As well as Rob Paulsen if he is going to be there.

It's an hour and a half from my sister's house and I'm going to make plans to stay there and make sure I have enough for gas. I hear the hotels are already booked. It's a small price to pay but worth the trip.
It may be a good idea to go online and buy a ticket as soon as you wake up on the morning of the 27th or stay up until midnight. |
Tickets are up for sale. Picked up power passes for the family which gives you priority for panels and signings, as well as entry 30 minutes early each day. Additional perks to possibly be announced. Looking forward to this con!

the gf and i got ours also. con is a go! as for the possibility of further perks, apparently last year, power-pass members received 3 prints, a shirt and other miscellaneous swag when they were picked up. hope this trend continues! :D |
Over 1/2 of the power passes are sold out.....
|
Bought our tickets the other day. Pretty stoked :-)
|
Indeed me too!:D now the waiting game begins...:ohwell:
|
Got my Power Pass! I guess I'll see anybody who is going! :tgrin:
|
Wow! The guest list continues to grow. I am really looking forward to this convention.
|
Seems like they are adding a guest a day to this con. Looks like it will be amazing!
|
Less than a month away! Looking forward to it!
|
CURSES!!
i wont be able to make it after all. :( for those still interested, there are still two power passes available. http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...39#post1150439 |
