Comic-Con 2013
Anyone else going this year?
I managed to win the hotel lottery, so my plans to attend are now 100% confirmed. (Whew!) |
The Comic Con Luck of the Draw Gods were very generous indeed to me this year, so I'll be there.
|
I wish i can go...:d
|
Would love to go. I'd also love to attend Wonder Con but for the second year in the row they are holding it in Anaheim instead of San Francisco. Sigh.
Looking forward to all the reports from you guys attending |

Wonder con,Power con and any other con I can possibly attend this year will have to do. |

Which Comic-Con are you talking about, San Diego?
I went to NYCC last year and i'll be going again this year. it's amazing. |

Otakon is the only convention I care about going to. Phoenix Wright is the cosplay theme this year with my Asian Invasion entourage as we prepare for Ace Attorney 5's eventual release.
|
I missed out in the public four day pass lottery, but an opportune opportunity kindly presented by an exhibitor friend means I'm hopefully getting a free exhibitor pass and massively discounted hotel room for the event. Just need to make sure I can afford the plane fares and other costs... if so, I'll be there! :D

Either way , NYCC was great and i'd love to experience SDCC. According to a few artist I spoke with at NYCC they said the difference in size and attendance wasn't very substantial last year between NYCC and SDCC. The best part of NYCC was easily the Turtle panel. All the voice actors except jason biggs were there and they did a live voice over of raw footage they hadn't even seen yet. It was hilarious. Rob Paulsen was just yelling like no one else was in the room. |
The hyphen is Key.
Comic Con might mean anywhere, Comic-Con is SDCC specific shorthand. And I say that as someone from outside of Cali. |
I was intending to go this year originally, but as it turns out, I'm making a Vegas trip instead. Have to plan for San Diego Comic-Con 2014 for sure.
|
I was going to go with my cousin Kyle, but unfortunately when the day came to order the badges, the damn site crashed the moment they went up on sale.

I'll be there! Got our hotel secured (finally), so my crew is in. Really hoping they'll do another TMNT panel with the voice actors again, last year's was awesome.
If any 21+ 'dromers wanna meet up for a drink after let me know, I'm always down for hanging out! :D |
I can't go to San-D comic con this year

Thursday's schedule was released today. There are two TMNT panels scheduled for that day. The Nick panel is on Friday.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Featuring Kevin Eastman A special discussion about all things TMNT featuring co-creator Kevin Eastman! Join Eastman and other members of the IDW Publishing TMNT creative brain trust, including editor Bobby Curnow and writer Tom Waltz, for what promises to be one shell of a fun and informative time! Thursday July 18, 2013 10:00am - 11:00am* Room 9 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Action Figure Showcase Members of the mutant marketing team for Playmates Toys-the master toy licensee for TMNT since the 1980s-prepare to "unleash shell," discussing what's now, new, and next for the articulated heroes on a half-shell. Get sneak peeks at future toys (perhaps some from season 2 of the Turtles' animated series or the upcoming TMNT movie), and ask questions of "team green" members who've worked on all three incarnations of the Turtles since their debut decades ago. Thursday July 18, 2013 2:00pm - 3:00pm* Room 25ABC |
I'm not going but I'm excited for footage of the panels and pictures of new merch! :)
|
NYC? Yes! I'll be there......in my hobbit garb of course
|
I will be at two of those panels hopefully. Maybe I'll bump into a Dromer or two. I might wear a TMNT t-shirt heh...
|
The TMNT Nickelodeon panel is now officially announced for Friday.
A TMNT 2K3 backpack is part of my standard Con gear. Feel free to say hi if you spot me. :) |
Otakon is the only convention I attend per year, sadly. Gotta get my weeaboo on, baby.

Damn! Gonna miss the Thursday panels, I'm driving in late afternoon tomorrow. I'm more stoked for the Friday one anyways though. I have to get my hands on one of those Casey Jones posters, that thing is sick!
Friday I'll be wearing this bad boy: http://i.imgur.com/bkNfRf9.jpg And toting around a 5-year old dressed up like a turtle (Leo). Feel free to say hi! And if anyone catches wind of Peter Laird being around (a longshot I know), give me a heads up. I got Eastman to sign one half of my nunchaku and I've made it my life's mission to get the other half signed by Laird. :D |
Have a blast guys... would love to go one of these years. But then I think about how overcrowded it is... all these pics of the hallways where you can BARELY walk... and I thought Wondercon was crowded! Truth is I think Wondercon has the perfect level of attendance, SDCC is just too popular for its size right now... doesn't mean it wouldn't be an experience of a lifetime though.
I am sooooooooo excited for all the panels people will be filming for us. With TMNT being a highlight. It's going to be a real blast browsing youtube over the next couple weeks as people upload them. |
Is there going to be anything TMNT related today?
|
Erm, well there was the TMNT/IDW panel with Kevin ;)
(it's written up elsewhere on the forum) |
Can somebody please explain the necessary steps to assist SDCC? I'd love to go one of these years, but since I live pretty far away from the US, I really have no idea about the whole process of going there. I'm sure a google search of this would turn up plenty of results, but I'd like to hear the thoughts of people who have actually been there.

- be lucky enough to get a pass from the madness of the feeding frenzy
- by lucky enough to get a hotel room from the madness of the submission process - have the money to fly to San Diego In the meantime, here's my Flickr set for San Diego! http://www.flickr.com/photos/mayheme...7634790064107/ |

https://secure2.comic-con.org/memberid/new_terms.php If you register now, you should get updates long before next year's. It's a pretty hot event - you have to be there the second tickets go on sale, so make sure you're online the minute they're up for grabs! Everything sells out quick. Then there's hotels... that's a whole 'nother thing. If you're serious about going and you get tickets though, msg me and I'll help you out. :D Quote:
Oh that Groo hat is so awesome! I got a nice hardcover Life of/Death of signed by Sergio. :D He's always such a nice guy. I heard he hosts the Eisners every year, I gotta try and go one of these times. |
Awesome. Thanks for the advice (and sincerity xD). I guess I'll start saving up some money then (:
|
I didn't go to any Turtle panels at San Diego. In fact, I didn't go to many panels at all. Did anything Turtle newsworthy come up at all?
|
I'd planned on going to the Nick Toon Turtle panel, but after waiting in line for Ballroom 20 for six hours I couldn't work up the motivation to leave in time.
I also missed the IDW panel, though I've seen screen captures of some upcoming stuff via Ninja Pizza that look cool. Though...I'm so behind on my IDW reading that I was afraid to read too closely out of fear of spoilers. Ross Campbell's art for Northampton is awesome. |
