I just think its inevitable that he'll become Slash later on. We've had Dr. Falco become Rat King, and Karai is probably Miwa.

So Spike changing his name to Slash wouldn't be any different than the above two examples. Maybe he gets brainwashed by the Kraang or Foot and turns on Raphael?

I do not wish for that, it would be sad.

Let Raph have his pet companion for ever and ever.. :3

I think its because every character has a foil:

Leonardo = Karai

Donatello = April

Michelangelo = Leatherhead

Raphael = Spike


But since Spike can't talk and is just a turtle, you can't really do anything with him. If he becomes Slash it'll force Raphael to go through a character arc of fighting a character who he once loved. (And I mean that in a pet way, not in a gay way)

I think they're going to do something along the lines of 'beloved pet turns evil mutant" with Donnie's pet cockroach? I remember reading something about it on the wiki. It's name is Chong and god only knows why Donnie's got a pet cockroach of all things, but Raph's probably going to have fun in that episode, because it's supposed to be about his fear of bugs. Well...in the 2K3 version, he really didn't like bugs, but he might actually be afraid of them in the Nick version.

But I love Spike and Raph and how he just talks to it XD It works really well. It's a nice opposite to his tough guy attitude. Plus, my favourite line:
"Here's a show you might like, Spike. It's called 'Does Mikey bend that way."

:3 I already knew spike was flushed down the toilet :D.......but where did i hear that???

Spikes not even necessarily a character though... I can't see him becoming Slash. But then again he's the only other turtle we've been introduced to thus far so who knows:P

I hope Spike stays who he is because Raph has a softer side with him. I've noticed we haven't seen him much in episodes lately, and I hope they remedy that because I love seeing Raph interacting with him.

I hope Spike becomes Venus.

Spike should stay as he is. I think Raph needs it. He obviously feels that there's more he can confide in Spike then he can with his own brothers. Which is an interesting point in itself. I always kind of wondered what Raph's deal was and whether or not there's some kind of reason he can be a real jerk sometimes. It just seemed to me like something that went beyond "well, that's just because he's a hot head". Because he obviously has the capacity to not be a jerk and his morals are in the right place....well, usually. Depends on which version, I guess.

One of the writers said a familiar mutant from the original cartoon would be showing up towards the end of the season. We know its not Bebop/Rocksteady and I can't think of a single mutant from the old show who wasn't paired up with someone, (like Groundchuck/Dirtbag), so my bet is its Slash...who is mutated from Spike.

The show is pretty unpredictable... could be Bebop or Rocksteady by themselves, maybe they meet the other one in season 2. We've seen designs of Wingnut, maybe he's a mutant this time instead of an alien. But yeah. It could pretty well be Slash. Or Baxter could become a fly. Maybe one of the Punk Frogs?

It is possible its Baxter as a fly, but I get the feeling they want to keep him human a little longer. He seems to work well with Dogpound/Fishface being the mutants of the evil team.

With Dimension X introduced, I think Wingnut will remain an alien and come out of that portal instead.

Unless its a "hero" mutant like Mondo Gecko or Napoleon, it probably is Slash. The old toon didn't even have that many notable mutant characters.

I'm betting it's Mondo Gecko. Could be Muckman, Slash, or Ace Duck though.

I remember the toy but was Ace Duck ever on the show?

As you’ve seen so far, lots of characters from the old show have already resurfaced, and a couple more are on the way soon — such as the Rat King. As far as mutants specifically, though… most of the remaining ones this season will be new. But there is one more memorable mutant from the old show who will show up later this season. And there’s a lot of affection for the old show among the crew, so I’m sure more old mutants will be resurrected in season two.

Personally, as much as I wish it was I don't think it's Slash. I think he was referring to Traag or Wingnut (even though he wasn't a mutant).

We don't see enough of Spike IMHO.

He's obviously not referring to Traag as he was revealed back in the 2012 production preview. It's a character not shown yet.

I don't think having production art revealed means Traag couldnt be the one he is referring to. Byerly just said another memorable mutant would show up. He didn't say it was a mutant that hasn't had production art revealed.

Let it be Baxter fly form. :D

I don't think it was Traag. Makes it sound like its someone towards the end of the season, like around episode 20 through 26.

I feel like either Mondo Gecko, Napoleon Bonafrog or Slash are the best candidates.
