kev or pete
well we have seen threads for who's the best turtle but really which one do you like most kevin who seemed to want the image way(all blood and goar)
or peter who wanted to take us to outer space(and kill a very well and loved chararter) |
Peter Laird, thanks to him we have 2 ongoing TMNT comic books and a Cartoon show.
I have to agree with Karpo there.
I gotta go with that also.
Peter Laird. Thanks man! |
But Eastman is by all mean also important. Without him there wouldn't be TMNT.
Indeed. AND, as mentioned, he comes home to Julie Strain every night, the lucky bastard. :P
I'd have to say Peter Laird, simply because he's the only one of them I've had some form of communication with (ie. the fan mail in the comics)!
Peter Laird is the one who's brining the TMNT back! Also, he's the one who's personality I most relate to.

Kev: blood, gore, obscenity, grittiness, action
Peter: deep stories, sci-fi, characters, humor Now, that's not to say that their traits don't overlap, but these are the essential differences between the two. Peter definitely gets a major plus for bringing back the TMNT. I also love his story telling and character development abilities. So he gets my vote. Although, I certainly do miss the occasionally Eastmanesque violence. I've always considered Kev to be more Raph & Leo centered and Pete to be more Mike & Don centered. |
Interesting points, dude! Lets not forget Kevin's interest in scantily clad babes!

well Ill be the outsider and take kev I like what petes done with the turtles but I like the path kevin was takening the turtles when the turtles had there part with image comics
I my self love violence and thats all you need to know |
As much as I respect Peter, I've never met him and have only communicated with him briefly through a few emails. But I've spent more time with Kevin than I ever imagined I would and adore his humor and generosity. Thus I voted for Kevin.

Not to mention Kevin's bizarre sense of humor... Remember this?? :ttwisted: http://www.dragonytes.com/no-fogu.htm |
Nono, I do believe you meant to point to this! :thyper:
Eww, no no no no!
That was the old one, this is the new one! http://www.dragonytes.com/no-fogu.htm That being after KG, aka "Leo", in true Nardo fashion, talked some *sense* into him, poor man. He was so embarrassed, he couldn't believe he'd been coerced into such foolishness... he's a fine fellow, quite accomplished, but alas, apparently very gullible! :tsurpris: (Please note, this is all said in fun, not meant to be taken seriously, especially things regarding FOGU... har har) :rolling: |
Hmmm... Well I'm actually unclear about what direction Eastman wanted to take the turtles and how much if at all he was involved in the Image comics. Erik Larsen really did everything in Image...
Yes, Last comic Eadtman worked on was Casey Jones & Raphael AKA Bodycount, Wich is VERY violent. An then there's the Next Mutation... Thats the last TMNT thing he worked on.
But Next Mutation wasn't at all violent, it was just plain silly!!
But that is true, Eastman's bodycount stuff was brutal |
Yeah, Kevin was even on the set, I've read. Laird wasn't really intrest, can't blame him. But it is not the Next Mutation people remember Kevin Eastman by, it's the fact He Co-Created the TMNT.
Right, although Kevin said that he liked Venus in the show, I still wonder what Kevin would do if he was making the new TMNT comic now, perhapes thats a good question for an interview!
Yeah, but if it's anything like Casey Jones & Raphael, I'm happy it's Laird who is doing it. I have heard that that is the biggest disagreement between them about the direction of TMNT. Altough Next Mutation is pretty big to.
I liked where the Next Mutation idea started (with the ooze causing further mutation as stated in Blast From The Past) but from what I saw of the show, it went terribly wrong, and far from the original idea. Perhaps if they did it in comic form.. and with them actualy beeing mutated further, I mean it sounds like a winner to me, if there is ever a Eastmen-Laird reunion, that would come close to topping my wants list
Likely why he sold enough of his partnership to Peter so that Peter could make the executive decisions for the TMNT properties. But I don't know what all happened between them, and if I did, it wouldn't be my place to say so. 8)
Whatever happened, things are rolling again, and I'm glad to see the result. |
The idea behind Next mutation isn't bad, except for Venus, but the execution is terrible. Well what else can you expect from Saban.
Did they even use the "next mutation" idea for The Next Mutation show?
"Next Mutation" pretty much ended up refering to Venus instead of the idea of the four main TMNT gaining super-mutant powers.
Yeah, "Next Mutation" was supposed to be the title of 4th movie, and the idea was that they would keep mutating. The idea isn't that bad, but probably wont' be used anywhere in the future.
Heh, I never liked that idea much, one of the best things about TMNT is that they don't have super powers!
When reading Blast from the Past it seemed like a good idea to give every TMNT individual look. But since 4th movies was scarpped, it probably won't get used anywhere again.
I also thought it sounded cool in Lairds words. I still think it'd be great as a comic or something.. ah, well.

What I find appealing about the TMNT is their "human-ness", more to what people can relate, their vulnerabilities are what make them more heroic, in a sense, to be able to make such amazing accomplishments against the odds of their hostile and rather unhealthy childhood environment, and such like... I didn't really have a problem with the Next Mutation at first, but it seemed to get a bit trite, and for some reason didn't hold my interest enough to keep up with all the episodes. I thought they could have done a lot more with Venus... she didn't *have* to be potential love interest material, she could have been a character that stood on her own merits and lent a different perspective to the female mutant realm... well, I could go on about Venus, but maybe that should be in a new thread. 8) |
