I'm dying to see the designs!!!

Bob 04-24-2013 04:50 PM

Cool. Thanks. As I’ve said before, I can’t wait to see the designs of the characters. For me, the designs and looks of the characters is the single thing I am anticipating the most.

Me too, I'm way more intrigued about that than I was about the casting.

1984TMNT 04-24-2013 04:50 PM

wish he would have actually said something of substance here....ah well.

Commenter 42 04-24-2013 04:58 PM

I'll bet they look something like this :P

and this
http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...psd46cfa5b.jpg

Sorry couldn't resist the photo manips...

but the casting is getting laughable at this point.

1984TMNT 04-24-2013 05:34 PM

I know your post above was in jest, but some people have hypothesized that the human actors will have their actual face recognizably blended into the CGI turtles / splinter. I honestly don't think that will happen.

I just don't think they picked good looking dudes who look related by chance :ohwell:

1984TMNT 04-24-2013 06:00 PM

I think it has more to do with their body types in relation to each other (which could translate onscreen), not their faces.

Bob 04-24-2013 06:08 PM

I do find it a bit of a coincidence how each of the actor’s they’ve chosen for the Turtles actually “look” like their characters already. For example, the guy playing Donatello is Donatello.

1984TMNT 04-24-2013 06:29 PM

In body type only (and even then, that's pretty much only going off of the current Nick cartoon) - you can't say any of these guys faces looks like a turtle - that doesn't make any sense.

Colonel Schrader 04-24-2013 06:39 PM

i've said it before, its probably going to be 4 human bro's turned into turtles. so we will probably get to see their faces.

Commenter 42 04-24-2013 07:16 PM

Ok, so i was only half joking....but seriously - the casting is out of control stupid is it not?

And as i've said before, i like Bay, but why are they casting from the D-list?

Same here but I know they will never be as good as the original movie look :tcry:

Powder 04-24-2013 09:10 PM

Maybe if you guys could learn to take each universe as its own thing instead of making comparisons all the time, you'd be less disappointed.

Because why would you spend top dollar on an actor if he'll be obscured by makeup and CGI? Hey look! We got Josh Brolin! Guess which one! Who cares.

Will Arnett and Megan Fox are at the very least B+

chrisdude 04-24-2013 09:48 PM

Aside from Peter Cullen, the most famous Autobot actor was Eddie Winslow from Family Matters.

That's amazing. Michael Bay can do no wrong.

Yeah, but they were all quality voice actors - and originaly, Liam Neeson was OP. It took a massive backlash from the fans before he considered Cullen.

I agree though, it is what it is...

Still think the casting for Splinter is beyond absurd. I'm cool with Megan Fox, but that's about it.

Starting to wonder if they are getting a package deal from a single agency.

I think what they are actually making is more in line with the Super turtles. Oh joy.

Remember the original Planet of the Apes? Even in the sequel Orson Welles was originaly cast as General Ursus but felt he couldn't go through with the legnthy makeup process.

I don't think they rank that on the Ulmer Scale.

zak_the_neutrino 04-25-2013 09:30 AM

I can imagine this new cgi looking amazing. I wonder how long till we can see any type of concept art or whatever just to get a taste of what we will see. June 2014 is to far away!!!!!

Slade 04-25-2013 10:24 AM

Shouldn't we be seeing something soon? Wasn't there at least a pic of Henry Cavil out last year for Man of Steel? We need something.

Cavil is a man in a costume, the turtles are motion capture/cgi so I assume it takes more time. Plus they just starting filming this month so I'm not sure if we will get anything to quick as far as the turtles themselves go. I'm sure we will get some April pix soon enough.

Slade 04-25-2013 10:37 AM

Figure they'd at least have the turtles designed by now...

Yeah I hear you man. I'm dying to see something myself. All we can do is wait which sux lol.

chrisdude 04-25-2013 11:10 AM

Ritchson said he saw designs from the start. And Eastman's been raving over them forever. They have designs they could release, they just don't want to.

I don't really blame them, either. That's one less chance for fans to get pissed.

Slade 04-25-2013 11:32 AM

Though it could get some excited at the same time.

JuniorTurtle 04-25-2013 11:36 AM

I've seen the designs..... Picture a blob of green slime thrown over a stick. Add a colored mask and you got Michael Bay's vision of Ninja turtles

They are probably designed, but they are not fully rendered. In a production like this they have there roughs pretty close to the final conception. Something like this that is going to rely heavy on CGI elements will be quite awhile until we see something concrete.

They do have them designed. Bay says in the interview the maquettes look good. The guy that was the head of character design put something on his blog a few months ago saying he had finished up with the design process.

This...

But I guess some people are only happy in life when they are bitching and complaining. :)
