We all love Krang and Shredder from the original cartoon. Everybody does.
However, which one do you like more?

Personally, I like Krang better than Shredder.
While they were both very funny, I found Krang's past to be very mysterious, and with it, very entertaining.
Krang's past and species was never revealed in the series. Every episode that show bits of his past were very entertaining.
While Shredder -- well, nothing stood up from him like Krang's past did for him.

Voted for Krang, assuming the poll is based strictly out of the OT. Krang has always been a top favorite of mine. His design is crazy, he's bursting at the seams with personality, and always has a crafty trick up his sleeve. Love his sense of humor, too. Shredder is great of course, and is just as important, as the dynamic between them is arguably the best part of the entire '87 series.

In the new IDW comics, however, I think I prefer Shredder to Krang. Though he's now getting a fleshed out backstory that's no doubt interesting, he has virtually no personality. He's just a war monger from Dimension X with a bloodlust.

I voted for Shredder, as a child I was so impressed of his appearance and still today he is my favourite villain of all the toons I ever watched !!

In the OT they're both rather funny. I think people like Shredder more because he was billed as the main villain and actually went out and carried out the plans and fought the Turtles.

Krang spends the majority of the episodes just staying at the Technodrome giving orders. That's one reason why whenever Krang did leave the Technodrome and come to Earth it was exciting.

I vote for Krang, I really like his sense of humor in the OT, but shredder is not that far behind and so do Bebop and Rocksteady.

I'm quite surprised how different the Shredder is portrayed in each incarnation. That along with being in more universes than Krang (even when including the Utroms) assures that he's always going to be the Turtles' greatest threat. Krang is still closer to #1 (Shredder) than to #3 (Karai, Baxter, Bebop/Rocksteady) since all of the brainpower and capability to be more entertaining than most Shredders makes him nearly as likeable as the Shredder is. But in terms of the OT and who I preferred, I prefer Shredder in Seasons 1, 2, 7, and 8; Krang in Seasons 4-6 (plus European Vacation) when Shredder was basically a goofy shadow of is former self, and both equally in Seasons 3 when the chemistry seemed to be perfect; lots of great interaction via the Comlink.

For me it's Shredder.

Shredder hands down! I think he is hilarious in the OT!

Actually we did see his species, in the episode "Invasion of the Krangazoids", were he was revealed to be a large reptilian creature.

No villain is as overlooked in the wicked category and the cool department than Shredder as seen in the '87 cartoon. Favorite version of my favorite villain!

I voted for Shredder myself. While I love Krang as well, Shredder did most of the work. Krang was the "brains of the outfit". While in the earlier seasons, Shredder was hinted at being a scientist/engineer of sorts, most of the plots were Krang's ideas, but Shredder carried them out. The banter between these two was priceless, but Shredder wins for me. His costume, his insults, and his tenacity are what bring him to the top.:tthumbsu:

If this is strictly the OT universe, then I would say Krang barely beats out Shredder for me. Not because of how "cool", "bad", or evil one character was over the other, but as you mentioned, the backstory of the villains.

There was never much development of OT Shredder beyond that short introductory story conflict with Splinter in the beginning of the series ("Turtle Tracks"), his brother ("My Brother The Bad Guy"), and his mother ("Shredder's Mom"). Which is shame because there could have been a treasure supply of story plots in understanding Shredder's history in the series if it looked into his past a little more.

As for Krang, even though the story writers never really formulated a complete backstory from the beginning, they added bits and pieces of it to keep the audience guessing.

In the end, I guess it depends on how well-written the character is and the depth of their backstory to make them an intriguing character.

Easy: Krang.

Why? 'Cause he's funnier, and when it comes to the main OT villains, that's all that really matters, eh? Being the one who wears the "pants" in the Shredder-Krang duo, Krang gets all the best lines and I love seeing him treat the Shredder like dirt. :lol:

I haven't read the IDW comics yet, but probably the image of Krang as a humours character is still going to be the prime image of Krang in my head.

However, in a another episode (can't remember the name), Krang has a flashback where he's with other beings just like him. Not saying that he isn't a large reptilian creature, but I always thought that whatever happened to Krang (the removal of his body) happened to those other guys as well. I was always wondered why the did it... :cry:

Hardest decision ever huh? Well then Shredder. Fifth favorite villain of all time. I was never a fan of Krang. Just thought he was an annoying brain when I was younger.

That was "April's Fool". They were experimenting with dimensional transport on the impervium gem. I suppose because dimensional travel was in its infancy at that point, and they needed a way to escape their prison.

That's a toughie, but Shredder beats Krang by a few for me. His constant whining and his excessive vocabulary are hilarious XD

As a child when I first played TMNT 2 Arcade and laid eyes on him - it was frightfully exciting. His appearance was fierce and pure badass, his theme music brings chill to my spine. He kidnapped April and bashed through the office window glass.

Being the final boss, it speaks volume of his authority and power. He was the source of all evil that was happening in the game and he's a force to be reckoned with. He's a menace and I adore him for it.

Now the OT Shredder might be goofy at times, but I will always relate the game Shredder with the OT one. I didn't mind the lite version just for the cartoon version sake. Didn't like the 2k3 utrom version though.

The first movie Shredder basically hit the ball out of the park. Each scene he was in were gold. Nick's version is fine too.

Hmmm... I think it was the "Four Musketurtles" when Krang gives a flashback with 2 other headless Krangs about the gem.

Shredder without a doubt. He just brings a smile to my face every time. I like him as a character more than Krang, too.

Still, the hilarity levels are the highest when the two are together.

Wow. Well, I'm currently re-watching the OTC, I'll find out what episode it is.

Hard choice, indeed! Krang always was my favourite and I couldn't wait for his toy to be released. I never liked any of Shredder's toy, still today the only one I like is Toon Shredder, which was never released over here, so doesn't even count.

But, Shredder in the Mirage comics and the 1990 movie is far superior to any Krang. As much as I always had a good laugh with the humorous OT Shredder, I often got angry at his incompetence and deeply wanted a competent and evil villain. The comics and the movie gave me what I was asking for.

Hmmm. I'd say OT Krang, one of my favorite characters in the OT.

Shredder, of course! I always loved his voice, and even at his most incompetant, he was always entertaining and wickedly fun and evil. I loved how he somehow always managed to get away, or get the last laugh on Krang. And his back-stabbing nature made him seem like more of a threat, while Krang just seemed straight-up bad but obvious about it.

Favorite Shredder moment? When he blew up the Channel 6 building and said "I. Never. Bluff."

I do agree with JYX. I wish they had gone more into Shredder's past than they did. There's so much potential there...how did he meet Krang? What was it like for him in Japan before he came to America...

When I was younger I liked Shredder more, but now that I've been re-watching the series as an adult, I realize how hilarious and witty Krang is. He just always has the best lines. He definitely wears the pants in the Krang/Shredder relationship XD
