Whoopi Goldberg Spotted On Set
 

I have not seen this reported yet.Eagle eyed photographers have spotted Whoopi Goldberg on the set of the upcoming film wearing a wig and a jumpsuit. Not hints as to what role she has in the film. Here is the article.

Whoopi Goldberg is Bernadette Thompson, the Editor of Channel 6 and April's Boss in the movie.

"A couple days ago, Whoopi was seen exiting from the set of the new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The very talented entertainer, who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award, had many people scratching their heads as to whom she might be playing. The only possible clues was that she was wearing a large, crazy-haired wig, and a jumpsuit covered up her character's wardrobe.

But today, I was contacted by a source, KrispinWah, who informed me that Whoopi Goldberg ("Ghost") will be playing Bernadette Thompson, an editor at Channel 6 News and more importantly, April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and Vernon Fenwick's (Will Arnett) boss.

Right away, fans of the the popular 1987 animated series should be able to recognize that name... sort of. See, in that series, April O'Neil's boss was Burne Thompson (voiced by Pat Fraley & Townsend Coleman). So, for Michael Bay's TMNT the character will be switching genders, and I'm sure she'll be referred to as Burne/Bern, short for Bernadette. "

This news has made me laugh out loud. I'm perfectly fine with this. I could definitely see her doing justice to the personality of Burne.

kinda reminds me of when I first heard about Lawrence Fishburne playing Perry White in Man of Steel. It grows on you, then you accept it as a good evolution of things

...well this is another interesting turn of events. I think it was expected that Burne Thompson would appear since we already had Vernon, and already Irma (with Abby Elliott), but having Whoopi Goldberg possibly playing "Bernadette Thompson"? :lol:

...Yeah it's looking like the Channel 6 crew is becoming more and more of the comic relief for the movie with Will Arnett (Vernon), Abby Elliott (Irma), and Whoopi Goldberg ("Bernadette") all having comedic acting backgrounds. This comic relief will probably be needed if the action/fighting scenes are going to be intense, to give the movie a "breather" of sorts.

I wonder if Bernadette will have an equivalent of Tiffany in the movie.

I hope we receive confirmation on who is playing Shredder and any other villains soon.

I agree that this film could potentially have great comedy relief with Channel 6, if the people in charge make the right calls.

I kind of doubt "Tiffany" will be in it since she's more of a tertiary character compared to the secondary characters of Vernon, Irma, and Burne. ...But who knows right? :P

....But yeah, if Tiffany was a young 20-something, attractive "hot chick" of Burne's, I'm sure the male equivalent for Bernadette would be some dense-headed, model looking "boy toy" for Whoopi named Tony or Timothy probably. LOL :lol: If this movie is PG-13, it would be a big source of sexual innuendo jokes between Burnadette and Tony/Timothy. ;)

Just when you think you've got ahold of how this movie's going to go, they completely flip the script. I'm ok with this, I've both enjoyed and hated whoopi's work but I can certainly see her making this work.

Maybe Alan ritchson can make a cameo as "Tiffany".

This is awesome. Goldberg has never once failed to make me laugh and watching her play a comedic hardass is more than likely going to be hilarious. Gotta love her crazy wig too. I am seriously stoked to find this out.

I like Whoopi so this is a welcomed addition in my opinion.

I'm game. I was a little worried about who she was playing, but I don't doubt she can pull this off, just fine.

A comedic role in a "Fred Wolf TMNT: The Movie," which we know is already populated by just-for-laughs characters in a spinoff universe known for its slapstick lowbrow humor and childish chuckles?

Yes. I think she'll fit right in and do just fine. Jumpin' Jack Flash in full effect. And it's no sister act.

i like whoopi. though i am happy it's not a major roll, i think she fits well for the roll she will be playing.

You know, I'm cool with this. Considering we already knew she was going to be in the movie, I like this role for her, and I've enjoyed Whoopi in the few things I've seen her in.
