TMNT 2014 New poster art.

I went on Legacy Effects website just now too see if they were still doing the new Turtles film and I found this -
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psdbb42918.jpg
It looks to be a logo for the film and what could be the first look at the shell of one of the Turtles.

Cure 06-14-2013 12:56 AM

Neat. More importantly, they're doing Muppets 2! AAAAAAAAAAW YEAH!

chrisdude 06-14-2013 01:20 AM

Shell shape matches the mocap shells. But why the heck would an effects company use a pixelated font? I mean, I looked at the site, this "poster" is there. But that font...

Cure 06-14-2013 01:22 AM

They've got other things to worry about than poster fonts, man.

Imagine someone putting in that symbol, typing "2014," and saying, "That looks bad, but I've got no time to fix it." :ohwell:

Cure 06-14-2013 01:35 AM

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Still, no biggie.

Kendamu 06-14-2013 01:47 AM

It's probably just a proof-of-concept.

xChri5x 06-14-2013 02:00 AM

The shells are even too big for the movie poster....damn.

They sure aren't giving much away, are they?

I know, man. I thought the same thing. I'm guessing it's just something they have thrown together quickly from renders they had, mainly so they can advertise it on their site.

Vi11AiN6 06-14-2013 06:57 AM

Judging from that shell I'm going to speculate that the TMNT's designs are going to be similer to the Out of the Shadows game

Using pixellated fonts is just plain unprofessional and makes whoever designed this poster no better than an amateur.

It could be a concept design, but then it has no purpose being displayed on a website in its clearly unfinished state. They need to adjust the opaque levels on the white logo and the "2014," and personally, I would change the font of that altogether. I would probably also make the logo appear as if it were carved on the back of the turtle shell.

snake 06-14-2013 10:47 AM

It looks ok, I agree that the pixellated font shouldn't be used. It looks way too much like a fan-made poster.

DonatelloNinja82 06-14-2013 12:08 PM

Looks alright, needs to be touched up a little...then I'd hang it up!

pihb 06-14-2013 01:24 PM

what's with the hieroglyphic?

Candy Kappa 06-14-2013 01:36 PM

I think the font looks okay

Powder 06-14-2013 03:47 PM

Extremely amateur poster...

oldmanwinters 06-14-2013 04:17 PM

Hmm... reminds me of the "Turtle hermit" symbol on Goku's uniform.

"Rock the Dragon.":anime:

WAIT. Someone please clarify. Is that an official Turtles 2014 image/poster?

I don't know if it is official, but legacy fx are using it to tote them doing the movie on their site. Google them and go into features. Thats where I found it.

TigerClaw 06-14-2013 06:37 PM

Or you could visit there official site and you'll find the Image on there under Features.

Wasn't Platinum Dunes doing production and effects?

I always thought Platinum Dunes were only a production company. I thinm Weta was attached for a bit, it's definitely Legacy now though.

TigerClaw 06-14-2013 07:18 PM

Legacy EFX maybe just one of the FX companies working on the movie, Its a known fact that these movies tend to have more then one FX company working the CGI for them, Dont be surprise if ILM is working on some CGI for the film also.

Refractive Reflections 06-15-2013 02:18 AM

I have to agree with some of the people here about the 2014 pixelated font. It's too amauterish to even be considered from an "official" draft of the poster, besides they would also put the official title of the movie and most likely it's font. (The same font and style used in those directing chairs.)

Sorry, it's probably some fan made poster... the work is just too unprofessional.

Weta would be awesome. Their work in LOTR was amazing.

I would love for ILM to be on board. They made the Transformers look legit.

Yeah. I don't think its official. I saw another poster online showing the 4 turtle actors names and headbands of each turtle. I don't think that's official either.

BubblyShell22 06-15-2013 03:49 PM

That poster looks awful and not something I would call official.

ILM are confirmed so far. They ar using pretty much the same stunt, effects and pre production crews as The Avengers from the looks of it.

Bob 06-15-2013 05:17 PM

It’s clearly something they just (quickly) put together themselves.

Avengers was a good movie, but hopefully the Turtles don't look like the Chitauri. They didn't look that great. Everything else was fine though.

I bet we can also expect some really good Parkour style scenes with the Turtles jumping rooftop to rooftop.

I hope so. It is something that lacked in the original live action movies. I mean, they had rooftop scenes. But not as we saw them in the comics, They didn't particularly use them stealthily or for traveling.

I really would love to see that. They sort of had it in the 2007 TMNT movie... but it was a piece of crap. (Respectfully saying... kind of)

Meh. I have never cared for that movie. If you check out Laird's blog, I'm fairly sure that he has put up a bunch of notes/emails he wrote from early versions of the script. It was even more ridiculous before they put his notes into play.

Shark_Blade 06-17-2013 05:51 AM

It looks like a beetle bug than a turtle. Awful design.

Slap-Happy 06-17-2013 06:05 AM

A lot of the people on this forum seem to have no clue how movie production, let alone effects companies work.

This is not an official poster, just something that the company has to show that they are working on the film. And just because Legacy is working on it, that doesn't mean ILM isn't. The two companies focus on completely different aspects of effects.

Legacy works in design and the manifestation of those designs that can be seen by actors on set, be it in 3D modeling or maquettes. ILM is probably doing most of the visual effects in conjunction with Legacy's input.
