Wow really wxciting, best incarnation of the TMNT!!!!

CyberCubed 06-21-2013 04:20 PM

The side by side panels of Casey and Leonardo unconscious are a great idea. Really enjoy that. It seems like Leonardo will be hypnotized or put under a magic spell.

Also I get the feeling we're going to get some female bonding between April and Angel over Casey's situation. Possible love triangle?

LH 06-21-2013 04:57 PM

I also really like the parallels that we have been seeing. Very good use of dialogue in that one of Casey and Leo where we are hearing about what must be done next, and it applies to both of them.

Lord Nightwalker 06-21-2013 05:58 PM

Looks good Tom!
Keep em' coming....

MikLeo 06-21-2013 08:04 PM

Shredder is really ungrateful bitch!!!!!!!!!

CyberCubed 06-21-2013 10:10 PM

Shredder is so nasty to Karai, I bet she'll turn on him someday. :D

It's called "forshadowing" and even in the panels you can see her anger.
I suspect she'll be the one who gets rid of kitsune, doubt she'll turn good. Perhaps she bids her time

boywonder26 06-22-2013 01:01 AM

This looks great!i so can't wait for Wednesday to get here!!

Tazi 06-22-2013 10:59 AM

anyone else is promising himself how he won't ever look at the prevs, and when they're out, he dives right into it in the first seconds? cuz that's me.

it's all great, and I can't wait until the release! seems like I was right about
Spoiler:
Kitsune having the major role in turning leo into foot ninja, and by "she means no harm", she will probably only refresh Leo's memories from his past life.

Seems like I was half-right about Jetpack cover, there are a tombstone, but more than one, and it's not Casey's. And Assasin Splinter? Judging by Leo's position, maybe it's the flashback he will get? Like a flashback from the future or something? Cuz Kitsune already seen New York from the past (as a city of lights), that suggests thats she definitely see the future. Wow, so maybe Leo turns foot to avoid the worse future?

Idk about the Nick cartoon but I have yet to see a version of Karai that has turned on shredder. She'll probably just take over the foot when he dies and have a more peaceful relationship with the turtles.

But after the secret history of the foot clan and the annual I'm starting to see Karai and Alopex as shredders subordinate hench girls, they're going to start having more comical role and abusive dialogue with shredder will serve as comic relief, they are becoming this universe's bebop and rocksteady.

I don't see that bud. Alopex and Karai seem to have a relationship and yeah its interesting have one human and one mutant paired up under Shredder but things are about to change I suspect. Karai did eventually turn her back on Shredder's ways by the end of thhe 2003 cartoon and the Smash Up game did showcase a plot of Karai's to usurp the Foot Clan from Shredder. Anyway, I do see her atleast considering it. She is so eager to help her ancestor but he just puts her off and he wants to have Leonardo in her place. Signs indicate she will waiver between the Foot Clan and the light so time will tell and Tom will tease.

Kendamu 06-22-2013 03:35 PM

I took a quick glance. I don't wanna have any real spoilers. I like the side-by-side style of storytelling going on.

***First of Two Latin Kings*** 06-22-2013 04:24 PM

It's nice to have a preview already. Here of late it really seems like we have been getting them very late. Can't wait for this. Have ordered two copies a piece for myself and three other people at this point :tgrin:

Edit: I like the side by side/mirroring just as much as the next guy, just not sure Asian doctors/medics mirroring the Foot was completely necessary :D

DONATELLO DUZMACHINES 06-23-2013 06:29 PM

Didn't want to spoil it for myself this time, wanted to wait until Wednsday
, but I couldn't help it. It looks amazing!

Man, Santolouco draws a smokin' Angel.

Heh, I wasn't going to say anything, but I agree.

Angel's design is awesome in this series, she looks incredibly hot. April too for that matter. They really knocked it out of the ballpark with the designs for the female characters, Karai looks great too.

Mayhem 06-24-2013 05:39 AM

Now I've received my issues #21 and #22, I can read this heh. Looking good, very good indeed ;)

Plasticplayhouse 06-24-2013 07:45 AM

love the casey/leo parallels. i like to get a glimpse at the art, but i never read any of the dialog bubbles. i like to save the story for release day :)

joefsas 06-24-2013 07:52 AM

Quick question. Is the city fall storyline carrying on from the IDW series (change is constant......... etc)?

That's a very long answer to a quick question. The answer is yes.

I second this. Does anyone know if he's just on the book for this arc or is he going to be ongoing?

I belive he is just penciling this arc and then we will switch back to whats his name from the krang wars. (Cant recall name)

Thats kinda disappointing. The krang Wars looked great, but Santolucos work just feels right for this book.

Eiko 06-24-2013 11:29 PM

Really looking forward to this issue.

Rooish 06-25-2013 01:03 PM

I actually don't think Santaluco's art is the greatest because I don't dig such structural differences between the Turtles. Mikey looks too skinny and the short bandannas look retarded.

Tazi 06-25-2013 01:12 PM

If it's not Santolouco, I hope it won't be Bates. His art is mostly okay, but some of the faces he draws are just really... uhm...

Rooish 06-25-2013 01:41 PM

True, but I liked the way he drew the Turtles, April and Casey. His action sequences in the final Krang Wars issue were great.

Bates Karai looked like Jay Leno.

MikeandRaph87 06-25-2013 02:23 PM

There has not been a bad artist on the main title yet but Schiti is my favorite. I love the other media look in the comics. It is so visually appealing. If not him Eastman(if he had the time).

Less than 24 hours and we will know the further fate of Casey Jones and Leonardo! :tgrin:

boywonder26 06-25-2013 02:43 PM

I love bates art work and would love if he returned full time, but I love Santolouco's art as well and wished that he could stay longer

Its funny cuz the structural differences between the turtles is what i dig the most, I've always hated how the all shared the same build and were the same height. It always seemed like they were built like grown men too. So for me Santaluco's art is welcomed. I assume that Mikey is the quickest and most agile of the four so a smaller leaner body works for him, but art is subjective so I dig what your saying.

agreed!!!this is what really set him apart from the other artist on that have worked on the book so far and I hope he continues to be apart of TMNT comics.

mrmaczaps 06-25-2013 07:56 PM

arts good, i just don't care for their heads/faces.... just, odd to me...

Yeah I have to say you point out a eye sore imo, I honestly hope Santolouco can stay with this book full time! Ben Bates isn't terrible in fact I actually like his turtles, but his style is a little cartoony (Its a comic!!! lol) For me at least.

AquaParade 06-26-2013 12:27 AM

I had to be one of the most vocal advocates for Santolouco before he became the artist for Secret History of the Foot Clan, and while I still really dig his work on the series, I was much more impressed with his art that I had seen via deviantart and issue #5 of the ongoing series than by what he has done since he became a regular artist on the series. Not a huge fan of the nickelodeon turtle likeness, despite my love for the show, and the funky bandanna's he draws.

corvus 06-26-2013 10:33 AM

I think santolouco making the turtles look individual is one of the best things he does. I'm not crazy about how he draws some human faces but when it comes down to him or Bates...well you know.

Spoiler:
Great issue. Art is amazing. We get to see a really badass rendition of shredder drawn by Kuhn, zombie turtles by Eastman, awesome evil splinters and Santoloucos rendition if Hob and Slash are the best so far. Story wise its not a big surprise how they turn Leo but it is done very well, guest artists help.

i was never a big fan of the stylized masks. i even mentioned it to santolouco on deviantart that i thought the stylized masks were excessive since their respective colors already show individuality. with all that said, i have warmed up a little to the masks. i would still prefer regular masks, but it's really a minor crit. aside from that, i absolutely love what he has done with the comic art. his art has so much life and emotion in it; it does a great job empowering the story. i prefer his overall art to the majority of the other artist who've worked on the IDW series thus far. with the exception of Ross Campbell that is. i hold them both in the same regard.

I don't mind slight differences, but it just seems a bit too pronounced. Plus, Raph and Leo have way better face shapes than Don and Mikey! In my opinion. I really don't like the bandannas.

ANYWAY, this issue was awesome and the art was great. I think Santolouco draws Angel pretty hot, but April and Casey not so much. He is a fantastic artist for many things, though, and I love how he draws Hob and Slash.

Spoiler:
I'm not too surprised that Shredder took this route, to turn Leo against Splinter by pointing out the sketchy parts of Splinter. But in IDW, it makes the least sense--Splinter did not raise the Turtles to avenge anyone or to kill Shredder in this version. In fact, Splinter raised the Turtles to avoid violence and killing. He did, however, hide some things from the Turtles--their origins, the reasons they were looking for a brother they didn't remember (Raph)... and he did play that trick on his sons in #21. I guess Leo's pretty susceptible, though. I'm interested to see how he treats Splinter next time Leo sees him, and how the Turtles respond when Leo (presumably) turns good again.

I kind of missed Raph, Mike and Don doing much in this issue, but hopefully they will, soon. I think that Waltz does better with Mike than some other writers, but I don't think he's had enough development yet... hope he gets the first Turtle Microseries part 2!

It was awesome seeing all the guest artists! I want a little more Ross Campbell in my life.

I can't wait another whole month! Any other microseries happening soon?
