TMNT: Shell Shocked [The Arcade Game]

TMNT Project:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Shell Shocked [The Arcade Game]

I'm implementing a system based on the original arcade game.
I'm trying to make this system very similar to the original game (adding my feature too) and unifying all '90s TMNT games into one game.

So maybe to solve the problem White Dragon, instead of the Foot soldiers hang-gliding backwards, maybe you could use the helicopter sprites used in the 1st TMNT arcade game (the highway stage)? It could work...;)

See the video at 13:00:

...But you would have to change the angle of the guns' direction though. :ohwell:

Edit: I'm just including a link to the old thread as reference for previous comments/posts made: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=43258

gobo 06-26-2013 05:34 PM

The sky level is the amusing kind of "ridiculous". Leave it the way it is. I never meant to make anyone think it was a problem. :(

Nameless 06-26-2013 07:07 PM

Wow this is great, i want it now ;) haha. This is defiantly something i will continue to follow and can't wait for updates. good luck with the project.

Machias Banshee 06-26-2013 07:11 PM

I fixed the youtube links for you, the video's weren't quite showing right... :)

White Dragon 06-27-2013 04:23 AM

Of course, the helicopters will be added! =)

Shred87 06-27-2013 02:56 PM

Wait a sec this is awesome!!! What else do you got? How far along are you?

Cryomancer 06-29-2013 07:12 AM

Damn, this looks rad as hell.

I've always wanted someone to do an arcade style version of TMNT III, so this is even better.

Please keep some of the hang-gliding Foot Soldiers. It's hilarious. ^_^

I'm drawing the missing graphics to complete the first level.
Then I'll do the foot soldiers and I'll fill the first level of enemies.
Immediately after the first demo will be released!

Thanks guy, for me TMNT III would be the best game if it left for arcade!

Sure! ^__^

Nameless 07-01-2013 08:52 PM

haha so i just watched the boss test video and am killing myself laughing cause bebop gets up and kills rocksteady. he wasn't even aiming at a turtle. i love it that they can hurt each other and even kill each other thats so great.

White Dragon 07-02-2013 07:58 PM

Thank you!!

How a lot of people have to request to me, here the combined attack of Rocksteady & Bebop:

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9175/942u.png

VERY HARD WORK!!

To activate this attack, you must stay in the middle (about) between Rocksteady & Bebop.
I calculate the positions availing of a lot of thresholds.
If there are more players than one, I calculate the average of the position (x,z)
Depending on the positions of Rocksteady & Bebop they perform their combined attack.
It can range in horizontal or diagonal...
The flash entity varies depending on if you encounter an simple enemy/player or one of the two bosses!!

Obviously you have the time to run away (as I did to take screenshots) ^__^

DonatelloNinja82 07-03-2013 03:00 PM

Sooooooo awesome!!!

Nice to know you're still working on this.

oldmanwinters 08-22-2013 06:22 PM

As cool as playable enemies are, I think my favorite parts of that video were:

The homage to the theme song sequence Turtle Van launch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7XxRg_ExkI#t=64

And the homage to the end credits scroll at the end!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7XxRg_ExkI#t=01m56s
(Looks like you even made up an alternate April sprite too!)

Refractive Reflections 08-26-2013 01:15 AM

Just as Powder said, it's great to see you working on this.

The playable enemies option is a great twist that I wouldn't have thought before. So if a player is one of the enemies, would we expect the final ultimate boss to be in defeating the 4 Turtles altogether? Maybe even Splinter? The possibilities are intriguing here... ;)

I enjoyed the Turtle Van launch too, but I have to ask if the game could have more of a platform action theme (be able to discover and explore certain areas of the city as with the old NES TMNT 1 game) in combination with the side-scrolling beat 'em style we all know and love. :D
I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm demanding or expecting more from the game, but seeing the new video opened up a lot of ideas. :D

Thanks for keeping us in touch of your progress! :) You're really developing this game to incorporate all the cool fighting/agility moves we wished we're in the old games and incorporating a LOT more OT cartoon elements (i.e. the Turtle Van launch, and the ending credits). Your attention to detail is elevating this game to exciting highs! :)

gobo 08-26-2013 02:42 PM

I was thinking about this just the other day. You should totally start an online donations bucket, just to keep focused and guage how interested people really are to see this project completed.

Great ideas, infact I programmed stairs, platforms (also floating platforms), ladders precisely to write that kind of level and extend the gameplay to a different genre, such as a platform game ^__^

it's a good idea. however, as long as I can I'll avoid this kind of thing ^ __ ^

That's sounding great! :) Now the player can actually investigate into certain areas of the city/buildings where it can create multiple outcomes, unlike the side-scroller beat 'em up style of playing where it forced the player to follow only one path of gameplay. Best wishes in your efforts, I'm certain it's a HUGE undertaking, and it shows with the videos you have displayed.

Woah, looks all kinds of promising, White Dragon!

Refractive Reflections 10-09-2013 10:40 PM

It just keeps looking better and better White Dragon! :)
The details in combining all of the original NES and SNES fighting moves and levels, while including new ones are highlighting your extensive detailed work here! It's the right balance of keeping what made the TMNT games so great, while adding updated improvements that we wished for.

I got to admit that every time you post a new preview video about it, my anticipation for the final project keeps building!

Tortuglio 10-10-2013 01:57 AM

awesome!

i was hoping in seeing an update on this... and there is! so i'm really glad and as everyone's been saying, the new elements you are bringing to the old stuff are pretty cool.
Keep those updates coming! :)

oldmanwinters 10-10-2013 08:50 PM

White Dragon, I'm confused on how to get the file from the EmbedUpload site. It has many "download" buttons that try to install various programs onto my system. Any advice on downloading safely?

White Dragon 10-10-2013 09:13 PM

click on "download now" button. You will see the right link in blue or use sendspace mirror =)

Uploaded TMNT SS [REV5697] with hotfixes!

TMNT-Leonardo 10-12-2013 09:45 AM

Haven't played the demo yet but game looks AWESOME! If there was a 3rd arcade game, it would look like this.

oldmanwinters 10-12-2013 10:02 AM

I got to play through the first Arcade level and I LOVED the Rocksteady/Bebop fight. It was so perfect as a first boss fight there they pretty much take each other out on their own if you leave them to their own devices. So great. My fingers haven't quite mastered all the special moves yet, but I much appreciate the tutorial.

Also, man, that redone Manhattan Project Intro looks great with the Turtles in Time/Hyperstone sprites!

White Dragon 10-13-2013 03:04 PM

Thanks guyssss!! =)
