TMNT Vol. 3: Ultimate Showdown DVD

Gyt Kaliba 07-08-2013 06:46 PM

Wait...I am confused here. By a couple of things.

Them switching from singles to a 2-disc set isn't too surprising, shows have done that fairly often enough. But...Volume 2 (which comes out tomorrow if I remember right) has 7 episodes, right? The first DVD had 6. That's 13 episodes. Whereas this set is listed as having 12 episodes...meaning a total of 25. Season 1 is still listed as having 26 episodes.

I'm not the best at math, but um...what? Is there an episode we're NOT going to get for some reason? It's not the one that hasn't aired yet is it, since we're getting a run-around on it's airing, I hope, gah.

Also, 'Tales from the Turtle Lair' is the web-comic with voices that the Nick website had up, right? If this is including parts 3-6, does that second disc have parts 1-2, or are we just not getting those either?

CyberCubed 07-08-2013 06:55 PM

Yeah, seems really weird as this set would go up to episode 25 of Season 1.

NinjaPug 07-08-2013 07:02 PM

Maybe they are considering Eps 25 & 26 as 'one' episode since its a one hour two-parter. Otherwise this doesn't make sense.

...Oh YEAH. I forgot, they are doing that with the finale like they did with the premiere, right? And they treated both parts of that as one episode, at least in the menu, I believe.

That still leaves the first parts of the digital comic thing. Are those on the 2nd DVD that's coming out?

But that would still be double the running time.

Bauer536 07-08-2013 07:30 PM

All this time, why didn't they do this with the first 13 episodes?:tconfuse:

I thought we were going to get four DVDs, not three. Does this mean that THIS is Season 1, Vol. 2, and that they are going to release a set that contains both discs being released so far?

I can't answer the first question of why not just do this from the beginning (other than hazarding a guess at trying to nab all the more cash from them), but as for the latter, I doubt they will. The last Scooby show, Mystery Inc., started off as singles and then went to double-disc sets, and they never went back and re-released the early singles as double sets.

Different shows, different companies, yeah - but I'm still betting the first two will remain singles. I could see Wal-mart maybe shrink-wrapping them together for a slightly higher price though.

This isn't a re-release of the first two DVDs. This is the next 12 episodes of Season 1.

I didn't see a listed running time, only a # of episodes. I have no clue what they're going to include on this DVD but it would be odd for them to include the 1st part of the season finale but not the 2nd part.

Did the 1st Volume DVD list the pilot as two episodes? I'm holding out hope for the full season on Blu-Ray.

CyberCubed 07-08-2013 07:44 PM

Yeah I'm not buying any of these DVD releases anyway, but I still like to keep informed on what they release.

We might get a blu-ray set around Christmas time since these DVD releases will be done with Season 1 by then.

I already know that. But my question is when will they be released as a two-disc set if the next volume is?

Chaotix12345 07-08-2013 11:06 PM

Awesome to finally see the Nick toon move up to 2-disc sets. Definitely going to have to start following these releases now.

Judging by the fact that one of the extras on the Enter Shredder DVD is "digital comics," I would assume that parts 1 and 2 ARE included.

I ended up looking that up myself, so yeah, I'm happy that seems to be the case.

...Huh. I'll be damned. Though that's a complete season set, which I think we could eventually get for Turtles. What I strictly meant was I don't see them going back and making a 2-disc set just with the first 13 episodes alone. Stranger things have happened though.

FlawedCoil82 07-09-2013 01:43 AM

Surely they aren't going to be stupid enough to skip the entire 'I, Monster' episode, right? :ohwell: That would totally suck big time.

That's in the second DVD Enter Shredder. First DVD had 6, second has 7, 3rd has 12.

Toby Barrett 07-09-2013 12:14 PM

According to this review, it ISN'T on the set.

CyberCubed 07-09-2013 12:56 PM

The Rat King episode must have been too scary for little kids. I wonder if this will prevent him from appearing in any future episodes too.

Why Nick decided to make Rat King look like an undead priest is beyond me. Shame if true.

Totally
It aired on TV, it airs quite a bit. It's not scary at all, even for kids (my brothers, 6 and 8, enjoy it)

LivingMutagen 07-09-2013 01:03 PM

According to the review, they switch New Girl in Town and I, Monster around on the DVD (it mentions Karai so yeah)

JTH 07-09-2013 02:02 PM

I don't get what people are talking about saying they "Skipped I, Monster"

They are going by how they aired on TV, New Girl in Town aired before I, Monster despite the episode order saying otherwise.

The same thing was case with the original Star Trek DVD Season releases (Done by air date and not by story order), which was a DVD set also done by Paramount.

You're backwards. I, Monster aired first but was supposed to be in between New Girl and Alien Agenda.

Just looked it up, you're right. So now I'm more confused.

If they're going in proper order, what are people complaining about?

They're just afraid. I don't think it's anything to worry about though. I guess everyone's still shaken up over the "Planet of the Turtleoids" thing lol.

CyberCubed 07-09-2013 04:18 PM

I think people are more confused as to why the first volume was split into two parts, while this second set has 12 episodes and finishes Season 1.

Why didn't Nick release them as half season sets to begin with? Why the first two volumes?

Well, to make more money. That's what Warner Bros. did until they realized people didn't want to spend 20 bucks for three episodes.

Jade 07-10-2013 06:48 PM

Wiki says that ''I, Monster'' aired on Jan 25th and that "New Girl In Town" aired on Feb 1st.

But lists the production numbers as being 114 for the former and 113 for the latter.

So these sets follow production order and not their air dates?

Lightjump 07-11-2013 07:58 AM

If the dvd is called the ultimate showdown, then I assume that the hour long season
finale is called the ultimate showdown, considering the news and dvd titles thus far it is logical to think since the last few where named after key episodes in the dvd set, (Rise of the turtles, Enter the Shredder UK).
So yeah that's it, kinda a guess but eh.:tsmile:

It looks that way. I'd just like to know what the intended chronological order is.

This is the Ultimate Showdown, a Ninja Turtle finale.
Good guys, Bad guys, and explosions. Just like a Michael Bay movie.
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
This is the Ultimate Showdown, our Ninja Turtle finale.

...Sorry, that's all I got.

BabyTurtles 07-11-2013 10:27 AM

wait......if the 1st dvd is supposed to have a leo bio....and the 2nd have a donnie bio......then the 3rd must have a raph bio
.....so if this is the last dvd....does that mean no mikey bio T^T?

(....until season 2??)

hmm my concerns are different then everyone else's XD

Since the 3rd set has two discs, it probably features both Raph and Mikey bios.

veemonjosh 07-11-2013 10:36 AM

I don't think we have anything to worry about in terms of a missing episode, despite the cover saying "12 episodes".

The runtime is listed as 312 minutes. Assuming that doesn't take the special features into account (which likely won't have a huge runtime in themselves anyways), you divide 312 by 12 episodes, you get 26 minutes per episode, which is a bit long. However, you divide 312 by 13, you get 24 minutes per episode, which is the typical length of a modern half-hour cartoon without commercials.

TL;DR: They're counting the two-part season finale as one episode. There won't be any missing episodes, and we're technically getting 13 episodes.

okay, then I'm good :3 .....but I don't see why I'm complaining in the first place...I already bought all the episodes on I tunes XD...

FlawedCoil82 07-11-2013 05:40 PM

Well, I feel much better about this dvd including 'I, Monster' after reading the description on Amazon:

"It's nonstop ninja action as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles face off against new enemies and old, including the Rat King, Cockroach, Baxter Stockman, and more! All this, leading to the ultimate showdown against the Kraang and the Shredder himself!

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...f=pd_sim_mov_2

So looks like no worries. :D

CyberCubed 07-11-2013 06:29 PM

I guess those years of complaints have finally been reassured.

Gyt Kaliba 07-11-2013 06:55 PM

It also seems to reveal that the Kraang and Shredder are going to be working together in the 'ultimate showdown'. SPOILERS! ...That we could already see coming. :P

Toby Barrett 07-13-2013 01:22 PM

Makes me wonder, what if season two is split into three dvd sets as well? The first half being split between two one disc sets and a third two disc set?

I doubt it honestly. I think Volume 3 will be the test release to see if sales tell them to go with 2 Volume or go with 4.

Translation: Send a message to Nick, if you want more episodes per release, buy Volume 3.

Of course...(Coughs)...you people should be buying them anyway.

CyberCubed 07-13-2013 04:29 PM

I won't be buying them. They're a waste of money but they're good for parents to buy for their kids so at the same time I'm glad they're being released.

I'll wait for the rereleases.
