DVD for season 1

I'm behind the news are they releasing a full DVD set for season 1 in the near future?

Luke795 07-26-2013 12:45 AM

Nobody knows.

Ravenxl7 07-26-2013 12:57 AM

Most likely no.They just recently released a second volume for it. Between it and the first volume I think that's just over half of the season, so I expect there to be two more volumes for it. I would like to wait and get a full season set, but there's little chance of that happening, so I'll just buck up and get the volumes.

Might want to ask a mod to add a question mark to the thread title. That way people don't get mad thinking this is news, rather than a question.

Gin Rummy 07-26-2013 01:18 AM

They could go the 2k3 route and keep mixing episodes up & re-releasing them over and over again.

FlogginMcMurryZombiePizza 07-26-2013 02:55 AM

I was curious about this too... 'cus I know there are two Volumes out now but I wasn't sure if I should just wait for a full Season set.
I dont see why not. It's not like they haven't already released and re-released the previous cartoons anyway haha.
Throw some bonus goodies on the full Season set too!

raph27 07-26-2013 06:41 AM

Rise of the Turtles goes up through Metalhead and Enter Shredder give you all the way through New Girl in Town, I think. The rest are in the 2-disk Ultimate Showdown DVD. So no word on a season set.

Ultimate Showdown DVD?....Googles...huh...I didn't know they had announced another volume yet. Then again, I wasn't aware of the Enter Shredder volume till just last week. Honestly, with three volumes, I'll just bite the bullet and get them.

Ultimate Showdown DVD:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Tee...Volume-3/18664

DVD 07-26-2013 02:28 PM

This 2 disc October release will complete the season over a set of four discs. However, only DVD ? I am really surprised at this. The show was ( is) built in HD, so I was expecting a Bluray release of the series. I'm going to wait a little longer, but if I don't see a bluray release scheduled befor Christmas, I will just pick up the DVDs .

DVD 07-26-2013 02:44 PM

Just read that the UK gets a September release. A single disc edition titled " Kraang Invasion".
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teenage-Muta...=pd_sim_d_h__1

No doubt the last episodes will be released in a fourth single disc edition, or a sneaky release of a Box set of the whole series... So you have to buy them all again!

Anyway, I still want that bluray set. ;)

Good point... They may save the season set for a BD/DVD combo if nothing more.

zkarlette 07-26-2013 04:26 PM

It's been hard avoiding the dvd's that are out right now, but I try to remain hopeful that If I wait some sort of better collection pack with be out.

alliance 07-26-2013 05:08 PM

im gonna get one on Saturday actually, not sure but I believe there in order despite only 5 episodes or whatever and I already know there damn cheap too so why the hell not, I know that youtube user davidakhoa did his review and he was bitching that it was full screen even though TV are all basically widescreen and on top of that the show it'self is on widescreen which doesn't make sense, im assuming there still selling it fullscreen but I hope im wrong

I actually explained this on the other topic on the DVDs. The DVD says that the content is "Full Screen Format", however, the only thing on these DVDs that is actually Full Screen is the opening intro to the DVD that takes you to the title menu (And you can tell because it shows a piece of the 4 turtles and Leo's face is slightly chopped off on the side of a shot). The episodes themselves ARE in widescreen, and I know this because I have a Full Screen TV still, and there are black bars on the top and bottom of my TV screen when the episodes play, showing that it's widescreen.

What some people aren't aware of, is when a Widescreen show plays on a Widescreen TV, it fills the whole screen; because the aspect ratio of the TV fits the aspect ratio of the DVD. So seeing the Full Screen listed on the DVD and seeing the picture fill the screen on your TV, one would naturally assume that the DVD cover is accurate.

But just want to let people know that are factoring buying the DVDs because they're Full Screen, the DVD cover is actually not correct *Strange and confusing when I found out myself*, the episodes themselves are in widescreen on the DVDs.

WOW,Thank You for the heads up..

PhatRam32 07-26-2013 07:02 PM

Are the episodes in order at least on the DVDs?

...EPIC FAIL.

Anyway, this one will not have the two-part season finale "The Showdown". Wonder why...

I'll stick with waiting for a Season 1 box set.

Yes, they are. I have both sets and they're exactly how they appeared on television. The dvds aren't amazing but they're enough to watch the show, which is all I need. I do hope for eventual blu ray release, since the quality isn't quite what is on TV but, who knows.

How'd you come to this conclusion?

It says it'll have 12 episodes. The first DVD has the first six ("Rise of the Turtles" is considered one episode even though it's two-parts), the second DVD has the next seven, and the third will have the next twelve, with the two-part finale made as one episode.

Not really. "I, Monster" aired before "New Girl in Town". and the latter is the last episode on the second DVD while the former will most likely be on the third set. However, if you don't mean in terms of episode order, I apologize.

Leo656 07-29-2013 09:51 PM

Bottom Line, I don't trust them enough for me to wait for a Season set they may never do. I'd rather get everything for $10 each now, and at least have them, rather than wait on them. If I'd waited for Season sets of 2K3 rather than buy them for $10 each at the time, I'd be spending a fortune on Amazon right now just to have everything.

CyberCubed 07-29-2013 09:52 PM

We're in Season 1, its obvious the show will be re-released many times in the future for new kids getting into it or after it ends.

The Season 1 DVDs will probably go out of print after 2014 anyway, so we'll most likely see re-releases of some kind./

Coola Yagami 07-29-2013 09:55 PM

They said they won't... but c'mon... you know they eventually will.

I tried and tried... but I just couldn't hold out. Already bought em both.

Leo656 07-29-2013 09:58 PM

We've talked about this. It's Nick, nothing is ever "obvious" with them. I'll be the first one to applaud them if and when they do what you want them to do. Then I'll be the first one to yell at them for the dozen other shows they need to finish putting out.

I don't take anything for granted, anymore. It's not like the smaller volume sets are gonna make me go broke in the meantime. And at least I'll be enjoying the product instead of waiting for it. I can only delay gratification for so long.

Man, that fact cuts me deep!

I own most of the 4Kids episodes on DVD, but there's some I don't think I'll ever own unless Nick goes retro and re-releases that series on new season sets.

Leo656 07-29-2013 10:36 PM

I'm out $80 for Ninja Tribunal, because I didn't hunt it down when it was new and cheap. So I feel ya. It's my choice, and I stand by it. We've been holding off doing a full series run of 2K3 until we had this one last DVD, and it's not apparently going to become more available anytime soon, and we're just sick of waiting. The ONE time I missed a release at retail, I didn't go after it hard, thinking "It'll be around again". That's where the waiting game got me. Up a f*ckin' creek. :ohwell::lol:

Now I don't wait. I see something I want, I buy it. Something better comes out, oh well, I'll figure that out when the time comes.

CyberCubed 07-29-2013 10:45 PM

I'm not buying any of these Nick DVDs. Not only can I rewatch the episodes online, but the only reason I would purchase episodes is for the glorious HD.

These are not HD, so its pointless.

Toby Barrett 07-29-2013 10:51 PM

Ten years from now, we'll be readings posts from Cubed whining that there are no full season sets out, and that the sets Nick DID release cost a small fortune.

CyberCubed 07-29-2013 10:59 PM

But times have changed. You can download the entire Nick show on itunes or Amazon or whatever.

I don't do that either just because I hate digital downloads, but its always going to exist there.

InsaneZane 07-29-2013 11:07 PM

Just because they have already released episodes in different volumes does not mean we will not see a Season 1 box set...
For example, Avatar The Last Airbender... ALSO Nickelodeon:

We will most likely see the same thing happen for TMNT

Leo656 07-29-2013 11:50 PM

Well, kids, some of us honestly don't give a crap about HD. At all. Shocking, I know. Some of us just want to watch it when we want to. And... AND... I may be in the minority here, but the internet and the computer take up too much of my time as it is. I'll watch TV on a TV, as is my only real choice since, BY choice, I don't have an iPod or iPad or whatever. So instead of iTunes, I have iDontGiveAF*ck.

As a kid who grew up watching cartoons on a static-filled 12-inch screen with color that only kicked in half the time, the sense of entitlement some people have nowadays regarding the visual quality of their TV shows is a little disturbing, to me. "I can't see April's pit stains, the picture quality sucks if it's not HD." Seriously.

Heather Breckel 07-30-2013 01:10 AM

Yeah, Avatar the Last Airbender is why I'm holding out. I was disappointed they did season sets after I had bought all the individuals. I really hope we get a bluray set.

Cowabunga Carl 07-30-2013 01:15 AM

I want to add my voice to those saying having a season set would be nice to take up less space, but the individual DVDs doesn't bother. I'll grab these sets as they come out and if they do release a season set I'll look to see what it offers that the original didn't and make my choice then.

I'm surprised you still don't use the VCR. :P

Leo656 07-30-2013 01:42 AM

I OWN one. :P Actually it's a VHS/DVD player/converter. SOME day I still plan on converting my old wrestling videos to DVD, but I never actually figured out how to use it. I have the manual, I've just been lazy about it since most of my tapes are in storage anyways.

I'm not specifically against new technology but I don't think having the newest thing is mandatory to live a happy and fulfilled life. I've only had an HD television for less than a year, so frankly, I've gone my whole life watching TV in standard definition and while a nice crisp picture is certainly a nice perk, I'm fine either way. I'd rather only have my shows on DVD in standard def than not have them at all. I'm not that picky. Nothing against anyone else, though. Whatever makes you happy. I just grew up without having a lot of things other people had, so I'm a little easier to please than most, I guess. :)

Honestly, if you came to me when I was a kid and told me that someday I'd own every episode of not one, but two (and potentially three) TMNT cartoons and could watch them whenever I wanted to, I would have thought you were some kind of warlock, as all I had were the four Burger King VHS tapes from 1989 or so. I wouldn't have cared if the episodes were in order or if the picture was perfectly crisp, I would be happy (and am) just to have the show, so I try as an adult to remember to be thankful for small victories in life and not expect or demand too much.

Hahahaha, this, except mine were really bad recordings over my dad's p*rn (oops). I must have watched the same dozen or so episodes a million times. Now we can literally have it all. Thank you, technology!

Leo656 07-30-2013 03:30 AM

My Dad would'a kicked your ass for that. Some stuff you just don't do, man.

Incidentally, my dad's p*rn is the REST of the stuff I have to one day convert to DVD. See, I'm the opposite of you; rather than destroy my father's collection, I was tasked with preserving it for future generations. Or just me when I'm bored. Y'know, whoever.

Threat 07-30-2013 03:47 AM

What's the reason this hasn't been released as blu-ray to begin with? Everything has been trying to transition everyone away from DVD to BR to begin with, like most movies being a combo of both. The fact they are only DVD is a bit annoying.

He gave them to me to use because he'd either forgotten what was on them or didn't see a problem with a seven-year-old girl getting an...education...during the gaps between TMNT episodes. Hey, maybe that's why I keep thinking of lonely turtle/pizza delivery girl scenarios. :tevil:

BubblyShell22 07-30-2013 09:02 AM

Leo, you couldn't have said it better. I'm the type to also be thankful for what I can get. And honestly, the fact that we're getting season 1 in three DVD volumes is pretty good considering the craptastic job 4Kids had of doing it. Heck, I only got a select few 4Kids DVDs because they had the episodes I liked. I wasn't about to waste money for the Turtles in Space arc because it wasn't my cup of tea.

But with this show, there isn't an episode I totally hate, and even if there was, there's the nice little convenience of being able to select which episodes I want to watch without having to play the whole thing. So, there you go.
