Jephael 06-26-2003 09:18 PM

I'd love to get my hands on one of those old costumes!

GK Punk 06-26-2003 09:25 PM

knowing how Cosplayers are, I bet he/she made that whole thing by hand.

Kid Icarus 06-26-2003 09:37 PM

d00d ! w4n7 0n3!

That is REALLY kick ass! Even more so if they did it on their own!

JameO 06-26-2003 11:19 PM

That is so wicked! I would like one of those! Maybe a Raph one if they had it! Dang that would be fun to walk down the streets wearing that with the old sais.

Skeletoncrew 06-27-2003 12:03 AM

Personally I want a Lady Shredder costume. But I hate sewing.

Reznorite420 06-27-2003 01:39 AM

I want costumes for all 4 of the turtles like that. That way, THE WORLD'S FIRST TMNT FAN MOVIE CAN BE MADE!!!! YEEHAW!!!!!

GK Punk 06-27-2003 03:07 AM

My friends that are in to cosplay, are going to find out who he/she is and hopefully, they'll know him so we can ask how he did it. I was thinking of cosplaying Shredder, but that costume would be really difficult, and I'm more of a Cameko(Camera Kid) anyways.

Reznorite420 06-27-2003 08:56 AM

How is Shredder that difficult?

BTW, what exactly is "cosplay"?

GK Punk 06-27-2003 10:37 AM

Well for shredder I'd have to make his armor. That's the hard part, Helmet, The whole thing I'd have to make from scratch.

Cosplay is: Costume + Play

It was a japanese term adopted by American costumers at conventions in the mid 90s.

The 7th Turtle 06-27-2003 10:38 AM

my friend Ellie might be able to do it for me, but she makes everyones costumes it seems so I wouldnt wanna bug her

Reznorite420 06-27-2003 11:39 AM

Pffft, I know of ways to make a Shredder costume easily (that's only because I have said supplies, but hey)...

Peanut 06-27-2003 11:42 AM

That would be awesome! I want one of those costumes just so I could walk down the streets and see what people do.

Reznorite420 06-27-2003 12:13 PM

I still fancy the idea of making a TMNT fan movie with costumes of at least that magnitude. Hey, it can be done!

Since there's no way I could pull off being a Japanese man, I'd like to do a variation on the old cartoon Shredder. I'd need the helmet and armor, Then I'd do a bodice or corset for the top instead of his shirt. I might also switch his color scheme and have a purple bodice and grey cape. But this is all dreams...I hate sewing and I don't have the money to pay someone else to do it for me.

hey gk have you heard of cosplaylab

Ghidorah2000 06-27-2003 05:06 PM

Frankly I find that disturbing.

Skeletoncrew 06-27-2003 05:37 PM

Okay, I'll bite (Just 'cause I can think of many much more disturbing things than cosplay.).

Why do you find people making costumes based on their favorite characters disturbing?

Because A.) They are probably grown people. B.) They should be well past the "Let's Play Dressup" stage. C.) It's not Halloween.

That Matt Guy 06-27-2003 06:47 PM

I just think it's funny. Huge fat women dressed in sailor moon costumes, that dude in that tiny car  It's funny.

GK Punk 06-27-2003 08:58 PM

 No but I have seen them at the cons before

Okay, well coming from someone obssessed with godzilla that visits at TMNT Forum thats really funny.

A: So what if they are grown
B: It's something people do once a year or so at anime or comic conventions to... HAVE FUN.
C: And who said haloween was the only time people can dress in costume?

Leo656 06-27-2003 09:02 PM

Eh. It's a little odd, but so what? Everyone entertains themselves differently.

Look at it this way: Some people have fun by dressing up in costumes n stuff. And then some people smoke crack.

I know which group I'd rather hang with is all'ah'm'sayin'....

The one that scares me is the dude that dresses as Sailor Moon. He's also "Crossplayed" other female characters before, but none seemed as Creepy as Sailor Moon.

Then there is the guy we all call Cardcaptor Tommy... he dressed as Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura one year. the next year, he showed up as Rinoa from Final Fantasy. He's a nice guy so I wont say anything bad though.

Nturtle 06-27-2003 09:15 PM

heh, I'm not into that kind of stuff and even less so into dressing up as a character :P But hey! To each their own!

Well, here's my take on this sort of thing.

A) I am a grown person
B) I "should" be past ninja turtles
C) I'm not
D) Who am I to judge others?

The fact is that we've all made certain choices. I choose to live life with humor and passion. I think its a far better thing to have a quirk that's fun, than a quirk that's destructive.

I'm with Leo656, I'd rather hang out with the people who can create and play, than the druggies.

That Matt Guy 06-28-2003 06:44 AM

I really shouldn't say anything. I know 40 year old men who dress up in WWII gear and go play war with each other.

The 7th Turtle 06-28-2003 07:14 AM

here's my pic from this year's Purim (costume holiday), when i dresseed up as shredder. the colors of the costume turned up really great but in thr pics they look too bright...

A) What does being grown have anything to do with it? B) It's not simply that; they're showing their creativity of how they made those costumes from scratch, and there're people who use costumes in movies, so do you want to call that "playing dressup"? C) Again, costumes arent' just for Halloween, nitwit; they can be used in movies, plays, or, as I said before, it can be just simply a hobby or art form.

And you have the nerve to call yourself a "geek"
