What do you hope happens for Mikey next season?
I'll say it again, I hope Mikey gets more development and good moments, he didn't really get much season one :(
What about you guys? |
more Mikey shinning moments plz~
he doesn't have to do something smart, just something awesomely Mikey without being dumb! :3 |
Honestly I'm kind of hoping that maybe in the back of his mind he'll be thinking about the fact that Leo coming back to save him almost cost Leo his life, and therefore he'll try to take training and whatnot just a bit more seriously.
Not that I want him to dwell on it or anything (Mikey's always gonna be the lighthearted Turtle), but it seems like it'd be a good motivator to kickstart some character development on his end. I like him as he is, but I don't want him to remain completely the same - it's more interesting when characters evolve slowly over time. |

Mikey's got a lot of things going for him in the next season. I haven't been disappointed with any of the Turtles so far and I'm sure Nickelodeon will do alright. |

but I'm sure he will next season :) |
His strength is his compassion and big heart.
More of that please. And yeah, more IMPORTANT moments with Splinter. I don't remember any in season 1. Just remembered Splinter tripped him with his tail so Mikey fell, and another time Splinter bitch slapped Mikey when he showed him a comic book. |

Than again, in the final it was like he was telling Leo to go die, so sweet  |
Him getting Klunk would be nice. I hope the Ice Cream Cat doesn't turn out to be him. (It's creepy.)
|
ICK is not Mikey's cat, it's April's and Mikey is just baby-sitting him when he gets into some mutagen.

Well, since my wife and I are also watching the OT series, I've noticed a lot of episodes focused on the original Michelangelo. These ones tend to have him altered in some way (Turned into a human, shrunk down to a few inches tall, turned into a child) or put him in an odd position (Putting up with Shredder thinking he IS Mikey, having to save all his bros when they are kidnapped).
So, an episode focused on Mikey where something crazy happens to him, or a crazy situation forces him... out of his shell (Sorry). A Donatello invention gone wrong could easily make this sort of episode a reality. One idea I had - when speculating that Mikey is actually the most skilled and athletic of the four, but his lack of focus keeps it subdued - is to have his IQ/thought patterns altered to where he can best all his brothers, maybe even his sensei - but it goes to his head, thinking he's practically invincible, and he goes out to take on a tough villain on his own. They may not have pushed too much development on Mikey, but the character has such a great foundation already that they really don't need to. All they need to do it take that personality and apply it. |
I'm sure there will be more development for Mikey in season 2, and I believe Greg Cipes said somewhere that Mikey will grow more, so that's a good thing. I really hope they focus on his compassion and big heart as well as give him more moments where he's not portrayed as being totally dumb such as in "Parasitica" though not that exact situation again.

I just want to see him be a bit more serious at times. Not all the time, but when he's fighting and whatnot he shouldn't be cracking jokes/acting silly.

Mikey's development is based primarily on his humor, I don't need a more serious story to build up the class clown. Let Mikey be Mikey, let him have his times to shine and be serious when it is crucial (ie: Shredder Fight in "The Gauntlet"), but don't tweak or turn the character into something more serious and be something he's not. Because then you get him winning a Battle Nexus Tournament, and turning into a Narcissistic Creep. Stuff like that makes me terrified to see Mikey's character developed. |
I want to see stone cold badass Mikey, but with the sense of humor.
|
ya know I just noticed something......
didn't it seem that the first part of the season treated Mikey better then the last part of the season???? he seemed smarter and more competent in the first episode all the up to "It came from the depths" not that he didn't have shining moments after that...but he seemed different.... .......no just me? :D |
Actually, I think he became more competent as the season went on, but in the first episode, he definitely acted like he wasn't focused enough. As the season progressed, he became more focused and there was more to him than just his humor as outlined in "It Came From the Depths."
|
I want the writers to dwell on the other parts on his personality like his compassion for others and his sense of creativity.

On this subject, I saw somewhere that some official bio says Mikey is ADHD and Leo has asthma. Anyone have any idea what "official bios" they're referring to? I don't remember seeing either of those on the Nick site. If it's true, kudos to them for giving kids someone to relate to, although I don't think the asthma thing is terribly realistic.
|
That just something that was made up in TMNT Headcanon.

but I think they switched the bios around later.... |
Yes, it's an official bio for Mikey, but I don't know if they stuck with it. I never saw anything where Leo has asthma. It would be hard for him to be a ninja if he did. I had a friend who had asthma, and when we ran laps in gym, she couldn't run with us and had to sit out, so I highly doubt it would be plausible for Leo to be able to run with asthma, though it depends on how severe the asthma is.

I don't think Mikey will get Klunk. If he does it will be after Spike mutates (and changes names and colors wtf) I just think two turtles with Pets is too much.
I think it would be cool to see Mikey develop a relationship with Murakami the Chef. Mikey was usually the one making friends with Pizza guys in the books and I think it could be used a great device to grow his character. Maybe he's afraid to open up to his brothers and sensei because he feels he is EXPECTED to act a certain way? Or really hates getting made fun of but can't talk to anyone about it. They could do a whole episode on Bullying if they wanted. |
Mikey in this series is a cool character. I have always liked the different Michelangelo's in the ninja turtle cartoons. The kind of laid back surfer stereotype, in the OT; the wiseguy in the 2k3, and now we have the kind of hyper active kid, in this series.
I just wish they kind of make this Mikey a slightly more serious at times. Him just playing the "dumb one" in this series is discrediting the character. He can be funny, but also have a big heart. The episode when they meet leather head for the first time should be the character in all the episodes going into season 2 and beyond.:tsmile: |
The Turtles personalities never really change or grow that much in any series, so I wouldn't be surprised if he remains the same. He might become a little less clueless but that's about it.

Well if it helps anyone. I tried to post my idea on Ciro's facebook page at least three times and twice on nickelodeon at least twice. Just now, I posted it on the nickelodeon tumblr page.

I think they've done a good job with the character overall. He's had his strong moments, and they generally haven't been overstated.
I would like to see more moments of true competence from Mikey (like in "Parasitica") because the only thing that could potentially worry me is going overboard with him being "the dumb one." But I have faith the show will keep the right balance, as it has so far. The Turtles have all learned lessons and grown in their own ways over season one, and I'm sure that will continue going forward. I can imagine a moment where his brothers realize that his compassion and lightheartedness are a strength that helps keep them together as a family & team - and then go right back to giving him a hard time anyway, because hey, they're brothers. ;) And yeah, seeing him develop some creative hobbies would be great - not necessarily as a writer like in the Mirage comics, but some nods to that aspect of his character would be nice to see more of in future seasons. |
Like maybe mellowing out his ukulele.
