What animals haven't been turned to mutants yet?

Across every series, what animals have never been mutants in the TMNT franchise?

I would have said elephant, but then I forgot about Doctor El from the Playmates toyline. Then I remembered all the others like King Lionheart and all the random Archie and Playmates mutants who were never in the shows.

So what haven't they mutated yet?

Mondo_Gecko 08-13-2013 06:29 PM

There has never been a beaver, polar bear, snail, raccoon, gopher, goldfish, porcupine, leech, jellyfish, penguin, cow or grasshopper.

And since plants are now up for grabs, I would love to see a Cactus mutant, personally.

Coola Yagami 08-13-2013 06:32 PM

Mutant scorpion. Mutant tasmanian devil. mutant woodhuck. mutant otter. mutant seal. mutant stinkbug. mutant earthworm (Groooovy!!). mutant ladybug. mutant butterfly. mutant crab/lobster

pannoni1 08-13-2013 06:34 PM

Over a million different species!

But in terms of popular animals: Zebra, Snail, Crab, Deer, Hippo, Starfish, Whale, Dolphin, Seal, Horse, Cow (That was a bull in "Mutagen Monster"), and so much more.

Then you have some animals that have been created by fan members via RPGs: Lion, Tiger, Salamander, Jaguar, etc. That leaves plenty of ideas for mutant making!

Metalwolf 08-13-2013 06:44 PM

Wild Boar, Mouse, Mosquito, Snail, Snake, etc.

Shark_Blade 08-13-2013 06:45 PM

Flying squirrel.

Fox.

Ferret.

Owl.

pingclang 08-13-2013 07:52 PM

Hedgehog, because somebody might get sued.

Technogeek29 08-13-2013 08:04 PM

We have a Polar Bear and a Fox lol both are snow themed. Alopex is the fox but for the life of me I can't remember the Polar Bear form TMNT 2 NES.

A lot of the animals mentioned, like Beavers and Cows can be created in the RPG
Porcupines appear in both the RPG and the first video game
Leech, Bloodsucker in the Mirage comics

Otter's can be created in the RPG.

There was no Polar Bear, Tora was an alien and he was modeled after a wolf not a bear.

Ninjara in Archie is a fox.

Coola Yagami 08-14-2013 06:22 AM

The comic that had April become a turtle had a Mutant flying squirrel. And it seems we're getting an owl mutant in season 2.

Beaver Mutant: in TMNT and Other Strangeness Roll Playing book.
Polar Bear Mutant: TMNT arcade game for nes (and yes he is a bear).
Snail Mutant: Drawn by Peter Laird for the 80s toy line but never produced.
Raccoon Mutant: TMNT & Other Strangeness Roll Playing Book.
Porcupine Mutant: TMNT & Other Strangeness Roll Playing Book.
Leech Mutant: Blood Sucker from the Mirage Comics.
Jellyfish Mutant: From the Mona Lisa Episode of the 80s toon.
Cactus Mutant: From the Archie special issues.

Some of those animals I believe are shown in the TMNT and Other Strangeness book.
Mutant Earthworm: Bookworm From the Archie Comics.
Mutant Crab: We saw generic mutant crabs in the 2k3 cartoon.
Mutant Lobster: From the TMNT magazine comic strip.

Original TMNT Cartoon Fan 08-14-2013 11:31 AM

Most species, I suppose.

miru 08-14-2013 04:54 PM

Hare (Usagi is a rabbit)
Mantis
Sea Turtle
Mouse
Crab (sapient)
Toad
Tree Frog (I presume Genghis Frog is not a toad or tree frog)
Wasp (sapient)
Weasel
Civet
Genet
Mongoose
Echidna (Knuckles was not present in Fight For The Fox Box)

Technically rabbits are still up for grabs, since Usagi isn't a mutant and isn't even a TMNT character. He's a crossover character from his own seperate series. Sadly most TMNT fans don't know this and he might as well be considered a TMNT character by now that if IDW/Nick were to create their own rabbit mutant, fans would consider him a 'poor man's Usagi'.

White Rabbit from the RPG.

Weasels appear in the RPG.

MsMarvelDuckie 08-15-2013 01:51 PM

Nope, that was definitely a polar bear. He was big, white, and had a STUBBY tail and ROUND head and ears. And alien or not, he was still an anthro bear.

Alopex was definitely a mutant so foxes have been done, even if ninjara wasn't technically a mutant. Neither was Jagwar, IIRC, but he could be counted, I suppose. (Son of an animal spirit/god? Still counts, IMHO.)

And there are thousands of species of birds, insects, lizards, fish, and yes, even plants that have never been mutated. When one considers the number of animal species on Earth, the list of what HAS been mutated is actually very small. Like kangaroo rats, for example- there's never been one of those. (And they're not "true" rats like Splinter, so yes, it counts as never being done.)

DarkLightDragon 08-15-2013 01:55 PM

A snake mutant would be scary. Especially if it's a cobra given it's rather intimidating head piece or an anaconda for it's sheer size.

Wrong, Tora was a polar bear.

Look up Scaletail.

Refractive Reflections 08-15-2013 04:25 PM

Yeah, I think most people have posted just how many animals that haven't been mutants yet. All anybody has to do is just open any biology textbook and look within the animalia kingdom and easily the list could get long, as the above posters have demonstrated.

Weasels appear in the RPG.

While he's an alien it has been stated dozens of times that the character is a bear.

Roland 08-17-2013 02:18 PM

Does any animal other than a human that gets mutated to become a human count as a mutant?

I think Sir Malachi is a seagull. Also, Quarry and Razorfist look like a grasshopper and a lobster, respectively.

Trivia 08-18-2013 10:04 AM

Would probably be easier to do it the other way around though, mention all the mutant animals instead.
Because there are so many different animals in the world, no way to count them all. It is easy to overlook even a pretty major species.

Sir Malachi is a Sparrow I believe.

I'm hoping to see some sort of cetacean mutation such as a dolphin or a porpoise. I can't picture how a dolphin mutant would look, but I'm betting Nick could pull it off alright.

Powder 08-18-2013 02:19 PM

A dolphin would be cool, but definitely hard to pull off. I would have liked to see Mitchroney give that a whirl.

CyberCubed 08-18-2013 03:00 PM

TMNT mutants are like Pokemon, they're always trying to find some new random animal to use as a character.

Stingray69 08-18-2013 04:21 PM

Wouldn't groundchuck be a cow mutant? Or what about that episode of the ot where the train wrecked and the cows where mutated.

Machias Banshee 08-18-2013 10:03 PM

The show Definitely needs at least one dinosaur...

The selections for mutants have been pretty tame, no matter what incarnation. I'm interested to see what's going on with this TigerClaw character...

Donatello19 08-18-2013 10:19 PM

Have they done any porcupines/hedgehogs?

Groundchuck is a bull. Hence the, "toro" gag.

Candy Kappa 08-19-2013 02:10 AM

isn't using TMNT and Other Strangeness character builder kinda cheating since it's not a wide known cartoon or comic media, and the character generator got a lot of animals, but their not actual TMNT property characters.

FlogginMcMurryZombiePizza 08-19-2013 03:09 AM

Groundhog.
Dinosaurs.
Sloth.

ninja-zero 08-19-2013 02:57 PM

If the movie would be made, we'd have four mutants serving shredder.

- Chameleon - his weapons are stealth and kamas
- Spider Monkey - his weapons are hookswords
- Rahzar - His weapons would be wolf claws
- Slash (turns on Shredder and joins the turtles)

FlogginMcMurryZombiePizza 08-19-2013 03:13 PM

Since when are those things ever been confirmed?

I consider the Triceratons to be aliens, not mutants.
If we are just discussing what animals have been USED, that be a different story altogether.

And I'm not sure who Shoate is.

And there was a long-necked dino used in the Season 3, but it came from the "core of the Earth" ala Journey To The Center Of The Earth.
