Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy cereals return!
 

Ok, ok, I know this is an EXTREMELY random thread...but I have some big news. So, you all know about the monster cereals, right? You know, Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Franken-Berry, the cereals that come out during Halloween. Well, way back when in the 1970's and 80's, there were FIVE monster cereals. The three I mentioned, plus two cereals called "Fruit Brute" (with a Werewolf mascot) and "Yummy Mummy" (with a mummy mascot, of course) these two cereals were nowhere near as popular as the original three, so they were discontinued and were never seem again....until now!

I know a lot of you will think this is a stupid thread, but I think it's really interesting to see these return after so many years. So, do any of you remember eating these way back when? Are you excited for them to return?

These cereals will be available this Fall, just in time for Halloween!

You're not the only one, I had the same reaction when I heard Hostess had returned. :D

Hey, every Halloween my wife is super excited at the prospect of Boo-Berry and Franken-Berry....this news made her ecstatic. We've always wondered what Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute were like.

Same with me! I'm excited to finally be able to taste some this year, let's hope they prove to be popular enough so that they can be permanent editions! :D

Yeah, I'm way too excited about this news. I wish we were getting the original Yummy Mummy box but I'm just excited to see it return.

Honestly I prefer their new designs...they fit in with the core three cereals that way.

Just noticed that the boxes describe Frute Brute as a cherry flavored frosted cereal...and Yummy Mummy as an orange cream flavored frosted cereal...both with marshmallows! The cherry flavor sounds delicious, but I'm not too sure on orange cream. I will try both of them, of course! :D

I do like that they're getting updated designs to fit in with the new designs of the main three too. For nostalgic reasons I wish the older box was an option too.

It would be really cool if one side of the box was retro styled, and the other side the new style. Or maybe they could pack one "chase variant" box of the cereal with the old design on it per case.

I want that cereal. O_O i never heard of it, but I want it. :tsmile:

You know, these could be in stores right now....heck, I'm already seeing Halloween candy in stores so you never know. I'll check the next time I'm in the grocery store. If anyone spots them please tell us!

Although it says Cherry flavored, I'm sure it will be a mixture of a lot of fruit flavors. Honestly, I expect Frute Brute to taste something like Froot Loops. As for Yummy Mummy, his cereal sounds unique. Orange Cream isn't a flavor normally seen in cereals...I'm anxious to try them both! Grape cereal? Sounds kinda gross...although I'd still want to try it :D

Now if only a new TMNT cereal was made....

BK Kids Club is long overdue for a comeback. Wheels may have to stay home, though, as he's no longer politically correct. Interesting idea though. Never underestimate the power of an obscure Robot Chicken skit to make something popular again, I guess.

Has anyone found them? Unfortunately my stores don't have ANY Monster Cereals in stock yet.

And NinjaPug...it looks like your wish came true! Remember how you said that you wanted the retro packaging? Well, Target will be offering ALL of the Monster Cereals, including the two returning ones, in limited edition retro packaging! I've never been so excited about cereal before! :D:D:D

Has anyone found them yet? The lady at my grocery store said that they'd probably be out in November....I'm guessing she doesn't know her months too well.

BOOYAKASHA! I found them at my local Stop and Shop! :D They were having a 2 for 5 dollars deal, so of course I bought one of each. I just finished trying them....and they are delicious.

Fruity Yummy Mummy was the first that I tried. Now, It DOES taste like orange cream...but not in the way that I expected. Imagine taking all of the red, orange and yellow Fruit Loops and Trix cereal pieces, then throw them all together, frosted, with marshmallows. Then you have Yummy Mummy. It's a very good and unique taste...I love it.

Frute Brute is a cherry flavored cereal. To me it tastes like fruity pebbles, but frosted with marshmallows, of course. It's very sweet. I do like this one, but I think I enjoyed Fruity Yummy Mummy just a bit more.

Both were great and I will definitely be stocking up on them, along with the three iconic ones. Remember, these will only be out until about November...so get hunting!

Diabetes screenings, thankfully, will be available forever. :P

I'm in the same boat where I've never tried these two returning cereals before. I've really enjoyed the way General Mills have made Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry cereals only available for maybe two months of the year as of late. It makes them seem more special.

And now to have the other two Monster Cereals back is just great as well! Both Orange Cream and Cherry sound wonderful to me. I found all five of the cereals yesterday and bought the two returning cereals so I'm really pumped about eating cereal now!:D

Now that it's October, these won't be around for much longer. Now's your chance to grab them...

Just Boo-Berry. Come on man. Go big or go home. Gotta eat 'em all!!!

Prediction: Huge uptick in adult-onset diabetes between now and Christmas. :lol:

I forgot to even look and see if we have 'em up here, but I won't be getting 'em. My one cup of coffee a day is all the sugar I can handle. Last time I had a bowl of this kind of "cereal" I swear my teeth were wiggling.

I've been getting these cereals for about a month now and I've been happy to do so. This is the first time I've had Frute Brute and I didn't think it was very cherry really. I thought it tasted more generically fruity so I was a little disappointed with that one. Fruity Yummy Mummy however was very orange cream tasting and I love that one. I've gotten eight boxes so far and three were Fruity Yummy Mummy. I'm loving the Monster Cereals!

I wish they were the actual original flavors though...

I just bought all five flavors. I remember them tasting a lot better in my youth. Yummy Mummy was especially nauseating to me. :( Still, I'm glad that they are back. My Dad used to eat Frute Brute all the time when he was young. And the artwork on the boxes is pretty rad!
