TMNT 2014 movie **OFFICIAL THREAD**

Hey guys, lets make this thread where we can discuss products from the 2014 feature film.

Has anyone seen any products from the movie yet?

I personally can not wait for this movie to come out and with the new movie a TON of new toys for us fans.

Digital Ghost 08-25-2013 08:21 AM

I haven't heard anything about a toy line for the new film, though I'm not saying it won't happen. Generally if there's a wave of figures, they're released to coincide with the film... And a lot of the time, they're released before the film. Glad you're so excited for the movie... And I'm sure mine will grow when we get closer to the release date. I never say no to decent figures, especially TMNT so fingers crossed, that we might see some movie merch. :tgrin:

Oh my friend theres no doubt we will see figs based on the movie. During the Playmates panel they said they can't talk about plans for the movie but we will 100% get figures.

Seriously? You're actually making a thread for this? The movie's not out for almost another year, and I'd be VERY surprised if we see any merchandise before next year's Toy Fair.

Usually some pics leak, we should see something by December.

Cowabungawolf89 08-25-2013 10:20 AM

The movie got pushed back to August of next year so it will be awhile

plasticturtle 08-25-2013 10:36 AM

I don't really expect to see any movie merchandise on shelves until next summer The actual figures will probably be revealed at next year's Toy Fair though. I'm hoping we at least get to see what the movie Turtles will look like By December at the latest.

You mean the new movie or the Classic Collection movie turtles?

MisterMiracle 08-25-2013 11:19 AM

So is this the movie that was advertised a few weeks ago during one of the Nick TMNT commercial breaks? I was a little confused because my girlfriend's cousin said that this new animated movie was on tv a week or two ago. Did I miss it or are they confused and thinking of something else? Was Turtles Forever on tv recently or something?

Given that this thread is about toys from the new movie, I'd hazard a wild guess and say that's what plasticturtle's on about.

C'mon people, use some friggin' common sense!

No, that was the Season 1 finale. Discogod, are we runnin outta brains or something?

Protoman 08-25-2013 01:40 PM

Merch and toy prototypes/test shots normally leak 6-7 months before the movie.

I know with the original Transformers Bay movie, one of the biggest design leaks was a bath towel company had Movie Optimus Prime put on it and the towel leaked online revealing the first true look of the character more then a year before the 2007 debut

snake 08-25-2013 02:17 PM

Anyone want to speculate one what we might see?

raven6859 08-25-2013 06:20 PM

I was wondering what kind of scale and style people were hoping for in the movie line. I'd prefer something reasonably consistent with the Nickelodeon line, like they did with the older movie figures. Would people generally prefer a larger scale or a move into 1/18 scale? The latter seems a popular choice at the moment.

LincolnHawk 08-26-2013 11:26 AM

over or under on when we will get news or pics.....april?

Hot Toys? It's my dream :)

Look how badass this is and tell me you don't want a TMNT in that style!

Agent 86 08-26-2013 06:20 PM

I fully expect to see action figures based on the 2014 live action movie released by Playmates.

I'm not sure what scale they will choose. I'm guessing either 5" like the Nick line or 6" line the Retro-Classics line. I'm inclined to go with 5" as they're slightly cheaper to produce since there is less plastic and also because they may be able to re-purpose parts from the broader Nick line to use as part of the live action movie line (and vice versa). It also means that kids will be able to play with both their Nick action figures and their movie action figures in the same scale and using the same vehicles and playsets.

As for characters, I think it's highly likely that we'll see the four turtles, Splinter, Shredder and Foot Soldiers. As per Playmates tradition, I would expect the four turtles to be well articulated and everyone else to have less articulation. I would also expect to see at least one vehicle, probably the movie's version of the Party Wagon/turtle van/subway car.

I'm not sure if we'll see April O'Neil. Megan Fox has previously provided her approval for action figures, so likeness rights won't be an issue. It will be whether or not Playmates risk releasing a "female" action figures. As April O'Neil appears to be playing a large role in the film and because Megan Fox has a somewhat established fan base, I think Playmates will risk releasing an April O'Neil action figure.

As for any other characters, I haven't been following the movie news too closely so I'm not sure what other characters will be appearing in the film.

VaderCM84 08-26-2013 08:00 PM

I really hope they make a high end option for the movie figures be it playmates or hot toys or enterbay or medicon or 3a or 3zero. It's the only thing I've been looking forward to about this new movie since they announced bay's company is producing it.

Ravenxl7 08-26-2013 11:55 PM

A bit early for a thread like this, but having said that, I don't think it would hurt. Get some nice speculation and wish lists out there. Personally I'm hoping for a decent looking figure of April. While I can't stand her acting, I wouldn't say no to a decent figure of Megan Fox. I'm also hoping for Classic Collection level of figures. Maybe not for everyone, but at least for the Turtles.

It's inevitable that we'll get a toy of the van, which I'm hoping they actually call the Shellraiser. Not sure if I'll get it, but I would at least consider it. Really depends on how well the paintjob is done.

Gimmicky figures are inevitable, and while I won't get them, I am a bit curious to see what kinds of gimmicks they'll do. Mutating Turtles would be a good idea.

Some high-end figures would be nice, but something like Hot Toys would be out of my price-range. It's too bad Neca couldn't do the high-end stuff while Playmates does the toys meant for kids.

I agree with everything in this post!

Post some wishlists guys, would love to see what each and everyone of you want!

Teal Turtle 09-02-2013 06:16 AM

Just curious, who was the person who actually saw the toys from the movie?

Hero 09-06-2013 02:07 AM

Very early and ambitious thread this. Not a lot has been revealed for the movie itself, let alone any tie-in products.

I'm hoping by the end of the year we'll get to see the character designs for the Turtles themselves, and at that point can imagine what the toys might be like.

I'm thinking movie first and that itself has been put back another 2 months.

Yes but some people have already seen the toys so hopefully they will leak soon.

Hero 09-06-2013 05:46 AM

Some people? I thought it was 'a person' who saw them ;)

In no rush to see these since it will be a long way off before they hit the shelves. There is so much other stuff about to be unleashed before the year is out anyway.

Unless I missed something, nobody... and no, that's not the username of the person, I'm saying that there wasn't anybody who saw the toys. Where would they have anyways?

Got any evidence to back this statement up? This is the first I've read of anyone supposedly getting a glimpse at the new movie's toy line.

Commenter 42 09-06-2013 06:58 AM

Powder mentioned the that someone had seen toys in this thread

So far, from everything I've read, some things seem to be consistent:

POTENTIAL SPOILERS\ though only rumors as far as I know:

Spoiler:

They look more human than turtle
They have some form of bamboo Armour
They all look different from one another
They are bulky and very muscular
They are larger than 6 feet
They carry more weapons than just their classic weapons
One turtle may wear pants.

Some of that I think is based on the look of the toys.

Ravenxl7 09-06-2013 08:49 AM

I remember reading the supposed description of how the Turtles will look in the movie itself, but I don't recall there being any mention of the person giving said description mentioning seeing any toys.

The movie versions of the toys tend to have more weapons and items then what you see in the movie. They just give the toys more weapons to carry just to make them look more flashy. And also take into account, Movie versions of those toys dont tend to be 100% movie accurate.

Props to Powder for the info.

MY BODY IS READY FOR THE TOYS.

Meh, it's Playmates we're talking about here, you just know they're gonna f*ck them up somehow.

Hi there, this is my first post (and english is not my native language...). Anyway, I was watching this video about toys when I had a little surprise. Look at 2:50 and 3:54 and tell what do you think about those sculptures :trolleye:

Powder 09-06-2013 11:11 PM

They're dope but they have nothing to do with this film. That dude is an independent artist who's been working on a very limited run of Movie 1 Raphael statues. It was posted many months ago.

Teal Turtle 09-07-2013 02:25 AM

I hope we see some type of toy by the end of the year.

I'd like to, but I've been let down by Playmates far too many times over the last 20 years.

At least if I stay ultra-negative on everything, I might be surprised. After all, a pessimist is never disappointed...

The turtles are going to look very different. I can not wait to see whats in store!

MST3KFan 09-07-2013 01:31 PM

I honestly would have liked to see the turtles done up like in the original movies. I think today's technology could have made some even better versions of the life-size puppet heads and stuff the originals had.

Of course, this is my inner fanboy of 80s/early 90s animatronic stuff from horror and sci-fi movies talking... I've just never been a huge fan of CG being used for everything as effects. It can be good, or it can be bad.

CGI, Live Action, or 2D, it comes down to the basic style that would result in such merchandise. That said, I'd like to see the toys for the movie a couple months before release to build up the excitement, with a second wave released just after the movie gets released. Expect it to be no different than recent releases, such as TMNT 2007, The Dark Night movies, Transformers, etc. My biggest wish would be to see a playset or two pertaining to the movie unlike the previous TMNT movies to make it feel more complete.
