TMNT #25 Preview/Discussion
Preview here!:)
|
Ah, so two weeks passes between #24 and #25, Karai micro's placing in timeline makes more sense now. :)
|
Quite a bit happens in the first few pages. I'm excited already.

Very interesting that Leonardo will be Rocksteady and Bebop's ally when they first make their debut as mutants. I'm so psyched for this, can't wait to see who the two mutants at StockGen are going to turn out to be. I would like Rahzar to be one of them, actually, since Slash in this universe is more like Tokka. |
Well that was a very action packed way to open an issue. I notice something about Dark Leo.
Spoiler:
Next cover has my two favorite Turtles on it.:) |
April and Casey....oh boy.
|
I can not wait till Wednesday.this issue looks amazing
|
I bet the next panel after the April/Casey scene is Angel walking in on them.

Or Caseys dad walks in...
|
It would be funny if April leaves the room and like 1 hour later Angel comes in and does the same exact thing.
And Casey is like.....Whoa. |

Dammit, this sounds like shipping fuel! Good thing there are no fangirls on this forum, just look at what deviantart has about the Nick Don/April pairing. |

seriously though, this is getting good...soooo goood. dark leo feels so much better when mateus draws him. something about his style adds more personality to the character than when smith or eastman's renderings of him. |
I agree, but for some reason I want to see Ross Campbell take a crack at Dark Leo, maybe in a flashback or something.
|
Lots of stuff going on this issue. Some characters I never thought we'd see again and the last page is indescribable.
|
Wow! That was awesome!

Just witout spoilers, from now:
Holy ****! Lots of things hinted and anticipated, are coming together in this issue! This was at least as good as City Fall pt1, and I can't wait until next monts. Also, there's a really shocking panel if you're familiar with 4kids cartoon's plot... ;) |
Ahh this issue has tied up a few of the ends people have been talking about, I feel like the arc is really moving now.
I have to wonder tho... Spoiler:

Spoilers below....
The last page shows Karai's plan B furthuring the plotpoint from her micro come to furition. I expected them to appear but it was cool seeing the transformation in progression with Rocksteady. We see the mutagen injections on thier wrist but where are the animals? I hope its explained. Casey's dad? It looks like he is setting up to be killed. I just have the feeling he is not going to be around much longer. Old Hob wants a favor of Splinter? What could that be? Any ideas? We finally see the Savate get serious. They are bad and don't like Shredder taking over. I doubt Victor will see his end because we still need to learn why the Savate is a criminal group of ninjas rival to the Foot Clan. Doubt we will get it all before the end of the arc. The Svate will learn the hard way though that Shredder is the one in control. Anyone else get the idea the corrupt cop Raphael was introgating to be a nod to Frank Miller? |

I saw that. He doesn't have the pronounced widows peek either and I don't see a beer gut in that picture. I really hope you're wrong cause that would just ruin Hun.
|
I thought Casey's dad was going to get killed by Hun not actually BE Hun himself. So in a way I would be correct in that Casey's dad kills his old self for the Hun moniker.
I recall that it was said Hun would debut in TMNT#25 and so would Bebop and Rocksteady. Well, the mutant duo was obivious but Hun was vague if instead odf Angel's dad Hun is Casey's dad. |
I thought Huns first appearance was is said to be in his micro

God I really hope that Hun isn't Caseys dad. I'm thinking Tom should weigh in on this and explain what his intentions are on that page.
|
What, and ruin the suspense?! :trazz:
I just read through and WOW I love where all of this is going. It's going to be greatness when all of these elements collide. |
I really enjoyed this issue. I feel like the story has progressed nicely. It was nice to see some more savate action but I'd still like to know more of their motivation in all of this. I was actually hoping for a savate micro. Anyways, the final page was great and who knows about Casey's dad, whatever happens it has got me interested.

I was thinknig about this after I read the issue,Kevin mentioned he wanted to do a second Annual. Have the contents being teased? What if it was a follow up of the previous and focus again on the Savate. The first one set up the group and established them and Victor in particular. The follow up could give the reader insight to their motivation, roots, and connection to the Foot. Just a reasonable guess and something I would like to see happen! I have seen both Tom and Bobby lurking yet they have yet to comment. I think we will have to wait for two weeks unless the teaser twelve days away give or take tells us something in reference to Hun's identity. Its just like Fugitoid hiding in plain sight. Speaking of Fugi, we have been away from him for some time. Krang could have ripped his robotic head off and downloaded the portal information by now!:teek: |

Looking at Hun's design on the micro cover, he looks nothing like Casey's father. Aside from the blonde hair, the entire body type is different too.
I don't see how Casey's dad who is a drunkard slob can become incredibly buff like Hun. |
At this rate Lindsey is gonna end up being the reincarnated Tang Shen.

Here's my review of TMNT #25 at TMNT Entity.
While last issue was all action and spectacle, this installment was heavy on the story. A lot of plot threads and character arcs moved forward and it was quite a bit to take in. It's good to see the gang war finally receive an official declaration. That thread's been simmering since TMNT #6, which was, like, 2 years ago, right? Man, when you guys at IDW said you had a "grand scheme" plotted out, you weren't kidding. The Savate were oafish buffoons in their last appearance in the 2012 Annual, but I presume that the new management has whipped them into shape since then. Admittedly, their comical antics in the Annual didn't do much to build them up as a worthy rival to the Foot Clan for the impending gang war, but they seem to be serious business, now. Victor killing a guy for speaking out of turn was kind of a cheap measure to show he's "for real", but if it got the point across that the Savate are no longer comic relief, then I guess it did it's job. So much going on that there's almost too much to talk about in one sitting, but I found the revelation that Shredder ordered Dark Leo not to kill rather curious. The narrative excuse makes enough sense (that doing something so drastically against his own nature this soon in the conversion might undo the brainwashing), it feels just a tad convenient. Kinda like when he "killed" Slash without actually killing him. Now he's joined up with a clan of assassins, but he's under orders not to kill anybody because reasons. Hopefully that'll be challenged later on. Knowing in advance that the next Villain Micro in the pipeline was Hun has had me curious. No foreshadowing for his character at all (seemingly), so I was wondering if he was just gonna pop right out of the blue. Casey's dad having a "purple dragon" tattoo, though, is a curious segue. Ought to be good. And then there's that splash page at the end. Bad. Ass. |
Got to be honest. This is my least favourite issue so far!
Didn't like that we didn't advance the plot at all and there was barely any action in it. Raphael's acknowledgement of why he was so angry was incredibly rushed, it was literally the next panel after Mike talks to him. The rivalry between Dark Leo and Karai is pointless, Kitsune was wasted in this issue and Victor parts were pretty dull surprisingly. April and Casey's kiss was once again rushed and the whole issue seemed a little lost in what direction it was going in. I did like the last panel though... But then again, who couldn't? :) Been Loving City Fall but this issue did NOT live up to the greatness of past chapters. (5.0/10) for 'City Fall: Part 4' :( Hopefully next month's will be better... |
