Your misheard lyrics

Which song lyrics have you heard wrong the first time or frequently? I have at least:

Volbeat - Lola Montez
(chorus)
"Murder she wrote. She was dead. ...

There are more but can't remember them atm, will post later.
Also, please no Wishmaster by Nightwish.

Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
Or a gorilla in the night

Guitar_Raph 08-30-2013 08:43 PM

When I was a kid, I thought Carole King sang, "And it's Kool Aid baby, now it's Kool Aid!"

OH YEAH!!!

AT-Man 09-03-2013 12:53 PM

Just remembered this one.

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
"Get up, get down. Put your hands on tombstone."

BubblyShell22 09-03-2013 04:05 PM

When I grow up, I wanna be famous, I wanna be a star, I wanna be in movies.
When I grow up, I wanna see the world, drive nice cars, I wanna have boobies.

(When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls)

It's really groupies and not boobies, but that's what I heard.

 that's great.

This one's my favorite.

LOL!

Friends theme song:
"I'll be there for you, what's that big sausage for?"

Discogod 09-05-2013 04:27 AM

The Manic Street Preachers song "Removables" - one of the lines is "A bronze moth dies easily", but I'll never not hear it as "I bronze my thighs easily"...

Icebot 09-05-2013 11:25 AM

Manfred Mann: Blinded by the light: I heard "by the light" as Friday night.

Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter: the lyrics "It's just a shout away" I heard as "It's just a shadow way".

I'm sure there's more that I forgot.

RaphAndDonnie 09-06-2013 05:03 AM

"The Future" by the Limousines
What I heard:
I wannna love; I wanna smile.
I don't need lunch I'm a simple child

Actual Lyrics:
I wanna love; I wanna smile. I don't need much I'm a simple child.

The only one I can think of is the old turtles theme song. Apparently, from what I've read, Raphael is cool, but crude.

To this day I still hear rude.

I know that's probably been said a thousand times, but I'm just saying.

Icebot 09-06-2013 05:31 PM

Sophie Hawkins: **** I Wish I Was Your Lover

I heard it as Stand (or stance), I wish I Was Your Lover.

AT-Man 09-06-2013 07:53 PM

For some time I thought Van Halen's "Panama" was "Animal".
And that Ram Jam's "Black Betty" was "Black Medic".

TurtleTitan97 09-06-2013 07:56 PM

I always thought "Raphael is cool, but crude" was "Raphael is cool, but rude".

WhitefinDolphin 09-06-2013 09:12 PM

Share the Land by The Guess Who.

Every time they sing "Shake your Hand" and "Share the Land", I'm mishearing as "Shave your Head".

Another song I still mishear the lyrics too is Get Your Shine On by Florida Georgia Line.

Every time the sing "shine on", I'm mishearing the lyrics as "sat on" or "sad on".

Guitar_Raph 09-08-2013 08:27 PM

I thought he sang Ore-Ida hot potato (LOL)!

Guitar_Raph 11-24-2013 11:44 AM

Kidd Video's song, TLC. I nickname it BLT!

A LITTLE B-L-T (chica-chica-chica-chick)! FROM YOU TO ME. B-L-T, BACON, LETTUCE, TOMATO. A LITTLE B-L-T (chica-chica-chica-chick) FROM YOU TO ME. B-L-T, A LITTLE BACON, LETTUCE, TOMATO.

GIVE ME B, FOR BACON, OH SO CRISP! L, THE LETTUCE FROM A HEAD. GIVE ME T, TOMATO. RED, NOT GREEN PLEASE. B-L-T! ALL I NEED'S A LITTLE B-L-T (chica, chica, chica, chick).

Guitar_Raph 07-08-2014 06:22 AM

"The rosey red cheeks of the Little Red Hen!"

pennydreadful 07-08-2014 08:27 PM

For "We Built This City", instead of "While Cody plays la-bamba"... I always heard "While Cody faced the vampire!"... and even after knowing better, I still sing those lyrics anyway - cuz facing a vampire is way cooler than just playing la-bamba. :P

Gin Rummy 07-10-2014 03:10 AM

As a Kid i was stupid enough to beleive "elemenohpee" was a letter in the Alphabet song. :P

Kanon 07-10-2014 03:32 AM

A classical one in Germany is:
"The Power" by SNAP!

instead of: „I’ve got the power“ some people hear: „Agathe Bauer“

There was even a woman, who requested the "agathe Bauer song" on radio

Icebot 07-10-2014 05:02 PM

Hip to Be Square by Huey Lewis and the News: I misheard those lyrics as "Hit the B Square".

Donnieangelo 07-23-2014 07:30 AM

I heard "your burgers are the best" in You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson.

Well, it's actually "your burdens I will bear".

Kanon 07-23-2014 08:00 AM

In the song "Hot wings" from the Movie Rio is one part I mishear everytime.

"You are too slow, you need to catch up?" is the original and I hear:
"You are too slow, you need to ketchup?"

I know it´s wrong, but I can´t help it :P

TMNT_Guy 07-23-2014 05:31 PM

I always thought the lyrics to the Dawnson’s Creek theme as a kid went:

”I don’t want to wait, for our lives to be over - to promote this show, you’re watching.”

Stone Temple Pilots "Feelin' like a ham and mustard shake" -Interstate Love Song.
Pearl Jam "Can't find the butter, man" -Better man.
Van Halen "Have you seen Junior's grave?" Cradle Will Rock
Led Zeppelin "And there's a wino down the road, I should have stolen Oreos" -Stairway to Heaven.

Type 97 Chi-ha 07-30-2014 03:40 PM

Boy George "Miss Me Blind", I thought the lyrics were "have fun in bed".

It's "have fun and then".

Type 97 Chi-ha 07-30-2014 03:41 PM

Are you really Weird Al Yankevic?

I think I found out about 10 years ago, whenever a particular song from Paul McCartney's Wings comes on, I always thought the main lyric was Man On the Run, not Band On the Run. Heh, I never knew.

Laura Branigan's Self Control, in the beginning, when she goes "Oh the night, is my world, city lights, painted girl" I had in the past thought it was painted gold.:ohwell:

ObiWanFan4life 08-29-2014 02:06 PM

2 Beach Boys songs:

Help Me Rhonda: I heard Help Me Run.

Barbara Ann: I heard Bopper Ann.

Wesley 10-25-2014 02:29 PM

Tmnt 1987 theme song: "Donatello's dumb machines".
Complicated by Avril Lavigne: "Chill out, watchin' Ellen for?"
Green green grass of home by Tom Jones: I thought the line "there's a sad old padre" was "there's a shallow farthing".

Icebot 10-28-2014 12:40 PM

Band on the Run by Paul McCartney: I misheard those lyrics as Sand on the Rug.

Considering the scene that accompanies that line (a coffee machine that is huge and malfunctions spectacularly), it is an understandable mistake.
