Silly things you have done in the name of the turtles.

I just thought this would be a funny topic :-)

The cartoon was in full swing when I was 11, and my best was 12. So we were OBSESSED with the turtles, the old cheesy adorable cartoon which I still love to death, so we were nuts.
I was in love with Shreadhead, and she fancied Don...
Well... We got grounded for like a month after she spent the night over and we snuck out of the house and went into the sewers to find the turtles, posting little sticky notes all over the tunnels with our addresses and names, telling them to go find us.
Yep, our parents were NOT amused.

Am I the only one who did such silly things?

Shellfox 06-30-2003 05:52 PM

on 3 seperate occasions, I pulled my car over ran into the middle of the street and ran turtles acros the street on foot, to keep them from being run over

Moomintroll 06-30-2003 06:00 PM

that is SO cute!
I had a pet turtle as a kid, I think i got into the TMNT cause I would sit my turtle with me and make her watch it, I know, I had issues, I was a very lonely child, and with an overactive imagination
i thought she would like the show....

Taloniss 06-30-2003 06:19 PM

When I was like, 7, I used to slip little bits of leftover pizza into the sewer to make sure the turtles had enough to eat :)

 I've done that before!

Brodie 06-30-2003 07:01 PM

I never did anything like that....but I did get my shoelace caught in an escalator at the mall. I had to get rid of my TMNT sneakers....

"THAT F***ING KID IS ON THE ESCALATOR AGAIN!"

When we were like 12 we dressed as the TMNT for haloween and tried to stop kids from getting their baggs snatched. we had the Fake Sais, fake katanna's etc.

It was rather silly

"I HOPE HIS PANTS GET CAUGHT AND A BLOODBATH ENSUES!!!"

EZweasel 07-01-2003 04:26 AM

i took a hit for leonardo when shredder was on the attack. hes still thanking me till this day. I told him not to thank me but to thank hard work and diciplin. without it i wouldnt have done what i done. leonardo took me to the lair to meet splinter. He was meditating so i didnt wanna bother him. i realy wanted to meet him though. But i did get to meet all the turtles. raph is nicer than yaw think. just a tad edgy sometimes. the turtles lair actually has one of those big things where you get in and jump. you know the ones with a net around it thats filled up with air. me and mikey played in that. Donatello was working on his inventions of course. i didnt realy understand what he was trying to tell me though. hes a little to smart for me. Casey wasnt there but i realy didnt think he would be . its not like he lives there. I did get a glimpse of splinter even though i didnt talk to him or meet him.

Nturtle 07-01-2003 08:10 AM

 I always thought about doing something like Moomitroll did, but never was brave enough :goofygri:

Donatello02 07-01-2003 08:17 AM

I remember something in the news about a few little kids doing the same thing, looking for the Ninja Turtles in the sewers. 'Course in this story, the kids ended up dying and it made quite a stur. Well anyway, I remeber always wondering if they lived in my nearest sewer drainage, but I never did go and check for myself. Something tells me I should be glad I didn't.

Moomintroll 07-01-2003 08:35 AM

yeh, it was a stupid thing to do, and no wonder my mom was so mad, she still brings it up every time I do something at 21 and not think ahead
"oh yeah susie? you thought? like when you climed into the sewers and posted your address for every weirdo to come stalk you?"

Donatello02 07-01-2003 09:04 AM

Haha that's awesome. I'm sorry, but if a bunch of humanoid 5 feet tall mutated teen turtles came up to my door, it'd scare the living bejesus outta me.

tormentedvagrant 07-01-2003 10:12 AM

I used to have a bus stop right ontop of a sewer drain, and I talkied to Georgie from Steven Kind's "It," nad the ninja turtles.

Donatello02, check this out its got to do with you signature.....

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 10:19 AM

You think that's bad? Whenever anyone in my school ever badmouthed the four, I would immediately snap and say something like: "What did Leo ever do to you?!" or "Takes one to know one....Mike!"
Am I...crazy? :P  :D

I did the same thing with a few buddies of mine at Halloween. I was Raph of course with the plastic sais. :thyper:

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 10:26 AM

 Nope we saved some kids from going home with no candy. We scared a few adults going up to the doors with katanas and sais although they were plastic they did not know. I wish I could find my sais. I think I still have them.

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 10:48 AM

I do believe a "Go Raph!" is in order so....
GO RAPH!!!! :D

I used to own a pet turtle. Actually two. I put one of them back in the lake where I found him and the other got lost after the bowl that was outside over flowed during a rainstorm and was never seen again. I miss that little guy...

Such a sad story. I actually owned 4 turtles when I was young. I can't remember it but I probable thought they were the Ninja Turtles.

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 11:09 AM

I used to dream that I knew them as friends of mine...oh, wait...I still do! :P

The 7th Turtle 07-01-2003 11:11 AM

I have two sea turtles. they are really big compering to what they were when i bought them... they're in the size of a GB

Donatello02 07-01-2003 11:14 AM

That's cool. I've been thinking about getting some new turtles as pets...since my dad doesn't want to get a dog. Oh well.

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 11:26 AM

 Sea turtles....eh?

HorseTechie 07-01-2003 11:42 AM

*wonders how one is able to keep SEA turtles* Don't you need an ocean for those? :P

Hrmm.. lessee, what odd things ahve I done in the name of Turtledom:

- when I was 13, I dressed up as Mike for Halloween, to hand out candy. Yes, it looked really stupid since it was bascially a flat cardboard box shell over green street clothes. No, I did not go out in public!

- When I was 17, I was really into Breyer model horses. They also have little conventions and stuff for this hobby too. So in one of the model horse shows I went too, there was an "Anything Goes" class. So I stick my TMNT figures on model horses and try to stage something out of TMNT 3. To bad I didn't have a camera that could do close up shots back then, but it didn't win the class anyway.

- I became addicted to the TMNT after seeing all the online goodness dedicated to them. Or was it that they made me addicted to the internet...?

- I went into credit card debt after flying all the way out to San Diego, just to see Kevin Eastman and have him sign some of my comics in person at the International Comic Con!

Hrm... what else?

- I play the COOTS tape, full blast, with windows rolled down, while crusing through slow rush hour traffic. ...or was that Ninja Rap? :P

Mars-Chan 07-01-2003 11:44 AM

*hugs Ht for mention of her favorite song* Ninja Rap!!! YEE!!!!

The 7th Turtle 07-01-2003 11:56 AM

and i dressed up as Shredder for Purom (costume holiday), and there are pics of me in that costume in TT

Leo656 07-01-2003 03:22 PM

Freaks. j/k

When I was 7 or 8 I won some goldfish at some fair they had for Earth Day (back when, y'know, anyone still gave a rat's ass about Earth Day), I think I had to toss ping pong balls into goldfish bowls and I got to keep the fish in whatever bowl the balls landed in. I ended up with three fish, and we also bought a little plastic fishbowl that had another fish in it, so that's four altogether. Care to guess what their names were? :P

They all died in less than four days and I buried them in the backyard. Guess their ninja training wasn't advanced enough to teach them how to survive for more than a week without croaking.

Raven 07-01-2003 03:53 PM

the only thing I ever did was one night I drew a bunch of ninja turtles pictures and at my old (christion) school I took them all and taped them to the wall of the hall ways and classess..........I had enough time because my mom was janitor at the time I think I was in the 3rd grade?

You needed a little rat as well. Then they would be trained well.

Kid Icarus 07-01-2003 04:53 PM

Like Moomintroll, I also went looking in the sewers for the TMNT, cept we didn't leave notes in there... we left about 5 frozen pizza's though.

Um... I also harassed the Target, Shopko, Walmart, Kbtoys, Toys r us, and Kmart employees before the new figs came out, and got all seven in 2 days time.

Dressed up as Donnie in this halloween parade we had in kindergarden, and baped my teacher with the bo when she tried to fix my knee pads  .

Convinced my Sci-Fi lit class to watch TMNT 2 over 3, because 1 wasn't an option. 'Sides, whats more Sci-Fi than 4 giant walking talking turtles who were taught ninja by a mutated japanese rat? NOTHING, thats what  .

Hell nah, dude, Kevin Smith rules. I think "Clerks" was my favorite overall, but "Mallrats" is either tied or right behind it. :D

GK Punk 07-01-2003 06:01 PM

View Askew fan here to, brodie :P

Jephael 07-01-2003 06:05 PM

I'd say the silliest thing I did TMNT related was create my own TMNT toys made out of computer paper in the early '90s. Back then, I was bad at drawing them to scale so I'd have a really fat looking Michaelangelo and a scrawny Raphael. Eventually, I switched to notebook paper and learned to trace them so they looked better.

Brodie 07-01-2003 06:17 PM

Too bad the Toon got cancelled.
