So they're calling in favors, making amends, and gathering up allies for the war. Smart. |
Yeah, I think it'll be memories of Tang Shen that will 'un-brainwash' Leo. That seems to be what is happening here.
And cool, we get to see Harold again. |
Harold it's been a full year since we last saw you. Hahaha all we're missing is the Cat Cop and we will have a full round house of the cast.
|
i'm looking forward to seeing what unfolds. also hoping to maybe get another glimpse of hun and B&R.
|
Damn, that CP Wilson...so sexy.
I love Santolouco. He's my favorite on Turtles maybe ever, but those bandanas...the width is getting out. of. control. |
Before I went back and saw that the 1st 2 pages were Charles Paul Wilson III I swore they were just cleaned up Lawson art....styles soooo similar.
|
this issue bringing you the latest in turtle street fashion!
love Donny's trenchcoat/fedora - great nod to the OT. |
Blue ball cap and coat make me think, future Raph. A nod or an allusion to Raph getting an eye injury? Hope its the former rather than the latter. Touching back on Harold and Woody. This goes back to what Tom was was saying he wants to use every character brought in more than just a one ff to make thme feel like a part of the whole story. Bringing those two back proves that.
It appears Angel is hesitant to tell Raphael what Casey's father is up to. |
I love Donny's outfit, I had that action figure!
It is really great they are using the secondary human cast, it really does give this book a living breathing city to war over. |
I still dislike Raph's sai daggers. Mikey's buckteeth. And those goofy bandanas. Seriously, Donnie's covers the majority of his head.
Otherwise, this is shaping up to be another awesome issue, art aside. |

Why was there a different artist for Leo's pages? Is this a shout out? |

most likely to the Artist of the Splinter Micro. |

you don't care for the way he draws his turtles - cool. i personally was not a fan of the stylized masks, i even let him know that in a personal message, but in no way did i feel he was butchering anything. now, the masks don't bother me as much. in fact they've grown on me a little. in regards to individual style he uses for his turtles, i dig it. each turtle has a definite feel of individuality to them, the way it should be. think of it this way...if all the tmnt art styles were represented in black and white, no colored masks, no weapons, just the turtles themselves, there are only a hand full of styles where you could instantly recognize each turtle for who they are. off the top of my head, Santolouco's and Campbell's turtles are like that. that's pretty frickin cool if you ask me. having/voicing an opinion is cool, but the way you stated it is disrespectful. Cool issue. It was so awesome seeing Shredder do some dirty work and cut down some Savate. And the Splinter/Hob/Slash stuff was great. I'm already bored again with Mikey and Woody's awkward homosexual relationship, but I doubt they'll overuse the character.
Leo's dream sequence had some cheesy dialogue, but dreams are weird. It's really sad to think about how badly Kitsune has screwed him up... I am slightly annoyed by the muddied timeline though. Technically, the Hun micro takes place within the pages of #25 since this issue's attack on Savate HQ picks up directly from Shredder and the gang spying on them from the neighboring rooftop from last issue. No biggie though. It doesn't mess with the proper reading order at all, I'm just weird like that. Speaking of Hun, wasn't this supposed to be his "debut" in the ongoing? I'm more annoyed though, by how this issue ended on the exact same effing note as last month did (not to mention last months micro). Karai scheming in the background. We get it. Just show her doing something already. But like I said, overall a good issue. The CP Wilson cameo was perhaps the least necessary one so far, seeing as his art previously represented Splinter's perspective and Santolouco himself has drawn the bulk of the Feudal Japan scenes. But I'll take it. I'll also take a Valerio Schiti and Marley Zarcone page or two if possible :) |
first we saw the corrupt cops and two other dudes from the annual then we see woody and Harold. Cool! Liking this universe

Here's my review of TMNT #26 at TMNT Entity.
I enjoyed the "roll call" aspect of this issue; dredging up a bunch of supporting or one-off characters and building the roster of "human allies" for the TMNT. Hopefully it means some of the lesser utilized guys, like Harold and Woody, can get a little development. I sort of hope that this issue's fight between the Foot and the Savate wasn't the extend of the "gang war" that's been built up for the past 5 issues. The Frenchmen all kind of went down like punks. But there's still, what, 3 issues left in this arc? I'm sure there's more to come. Hob and the mutagen, though, THAT I can't wait to see. I can only imagine what his roster will be like. New characters? Familiar faces? It ought to be good. I've been looking forward to this plot thread for a while now. And good stuff on that opening page with Leo and Tang Shen. Now that we have a universe where the Turtles actually HAD a mother, I'd like to see their relationship with her explored a bit more. Good chapter. |
I thought this was one of the better issues of City Fall so far.
Everything I've seen of Mike Henderson so far has been great! He definitely has a style that is reminiscent of the old Mirage tmnt. The hat on Raphael really gives him a sweet look. Tom, poke his eye out. |
Old Hob 'pussyfootin' around with mutagen makes me wonder if we'll see a 4-part Mutanimals (or equivalent) mini-series in 2014...
Anyone think Woody might get mutated at some point, or will they keep him as a human ally? I'm on the fence as to which I'd prefer, the everyone-turns-into-a-mutant-at-some-point schtick can get old fast and is more campy cartoon territory, but on the other hand I could see him as a new spin on a mondo fan favorite... |

good issue. i really liked how shredder has taken leo under his wing. that's a side of shredder i dont believe we've seen before. it's the first character i can ever remember shredder "respecting". cpwiii's into flash back art was very cool too :)
|
They keep killing it on this arc! I really hope that they bring Santolouco back for more after City Fall. So many food plot threads running, my favorite has to be what Karai has up her sleeve. I cant wait to see B & R and also the larger role Hun plays in all of it. Great stuff as always.

:trazz: Thanks for the fantastic support, DONATELLO DUZMACHINES! Talk soon... Tom W. |
A bit less intense issue this time, but still nice, it was great to see less known characters returning from earlier IDW.

Yeah, I thought Victor went down easily too.
Is that... is that it? For the Savate? I'm worried someone's gonna die, maybe Alopex, and she didn't get developed enough yet. The reason why I said Mike's and Don's appearances are being "butchered" is that the appearances are such caricatures. They remind me of the Nick cartoon which is obviously meant for kids who can't handle subtlety and nuances. Yes we know Don is smart, does he have to be lanky and big-headed and skinny? We know Raph is tough, does he have to be twice the width of the others? We know Mike is youngest, does he have to have buck teeth? I mean what is that? |
Tazi,if you want a pun worse than that, "Baxter, you should have stopped while you were still ahead"-Shredder to Baxter Stockman about wanting to be free of being unders Shredder's thumb.
I agree with all about the Savate. I chalked it down to space issues so it was wrapped up quicker than it would have liked to have gone on. Victor did ask for his hand to be chopped off shooting at Shredder and Leonardo. If he not and stayed down he would have been just defeated not maimed and defeated. Not something new as referenced with Baxter Stockman above. So the ooze vs mutagen. Ooze has always been an alternative term for mutagen so how is the ooze different? It looks exactly the same. |
In this comic series, Mutagen turns you into a mutant, ooze powers you up and/or heals you. Ooze made Casey's old out of shape dad into larger-than-life Hun. I could assume, had Shredder wanted, Victor could regrow his hand with ooze, though I doubt he'd be that merciful.
Shredder loves to surround himself with potential back-stabbers. It wouldn't surprise me if he mutates Victor and forces him to work for him. |

Good call with Victor's hand. So Savate are put down by Shredder and are under his control, the street gangs are under his control and hei s tricking Arnold Sr. into runnig them for him. The mob was put down by the Savate before Shredder got to them. Hob was left alone for delivering the turtles to Shredder. Is that everyone? |
Haven't read much of the thread, but I am sure this has already been brought up.....
Spoiler:
Loved this issue! so much action and I love how the story jumped back and forth between characters!!! |

Been too busy to put down my thoughts, but I really did love seeing Woody and Howard brought back into the story. I know we don't know much about Woody, but it's enough to know he's Mikey's friend for now. Maybe someday they'll expand on how they met.
Here are my thoughts on the issue.... http://markandpaigerodriguez.blogspo...ll-part-5.html but here's my main complaint about the Savate Ninas 'I think the problem is the Savate were never given the chance to develop or be made interesting in this weird world of mutant turtles and revived 16th century ninjas. The Foot has a bad-ass like Shredder as their leader, as well as Karai, Alopex, Dark Leo and Kitsune. What do the Savate have? Victor looks bad-ass I must admit, but where are some equally bad-ass second in commands? Where are his mutant or otherwise weird ninjas? Maybe some cyborg ninjas? A dude with tons of different kinds of swords... a really big muscular dude.. maybe some disco dude with a large fro... I don't know... SOMETHING that stands out besides Victor and a bunch of bland boring characters noone cares about. Hell, take a page from Mortal Kombat and have a ninja that freeze things. I don't know. Those Naruto headbands aren't enough to make them stand out. Either way, the Savate is a boring and bland nameless gang that will quickly be flushed out by the Foot and their freaks. The only thing interesting about them is the unanswered question of why there was a second gang of ninjas in the city to begin with.' |
