Season 1 Box set Coming to UK In November!

Yes! I'm SOOOO glad I didn't buy those single DVDS. We're getting a complete box set in November! The 18th, to be exact. It's called "First Mutations". I'm so happy about this!

Well...I did see the information from YOUR post in the other thread, so I'll credi you in the first post :D Sorry about that though, I'm pretty quick :P

It is great news. And to think that I was gonna get involved in all those single releases....so glad I resisted the urge to buy them!

TheSkeletonMan939 09-29-2013 02:12 PM

I'm not seeing a US version anywhere...

Well seeing as how the U.S. and UK have gotten all the exact same single releases (just with different covers) it's safe to assume that this will be the same kind of situation.

JH24 09-29-2013 02:23 PM

Great news, great news! That's one box set I definitely would love to have, and I know someone else who may like it.

I was initially planning to try getting the single DVD's, but this is so much better. Would be a great gift for "Sinterklaas". (Dutch Holiday at December 5th) I probably have to order it online.

Um, there's a big difference. In UK, there's four, US three. I'm betting this is only UK.

No. There's four DVDS in all, and both the U.S. and UK have them all...it's just that the U.S. has 3 and 4 in ONE set, while the UK spread them across two sets. We both got the same things, just in different ways.

Ramboraph4life aka Matt 09-29-2013 02:52 PM

Shouldn't the thread be sort of changed to "The UK box set is Coming in November?" Because it is kind of misleading, since there is no word of a US release of a boxset.

And, I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but just because something is released in the UK, doesn't meant it'll also get a release in the US.

oldmanwinters 09-29-2013 02:56 PM

Looks to me like it might just be a box set collection of the previous single disc releases.

Personally I don't think there's any need for worry. There's no way Nick is going to skip the release of the box set in the USA itself. It will be their largest market, and the release would be timed perfectly right before December/Christmas.

snake 09-29-2013 03:00 PM

Awesome! Cant wait to get this!

Exactly what I've been trying to say. It wouldn't make any sense for it to be UK exclusive...

Heather Breckel 09-29-2013 03:04 PM

Still got my fingers crossed that we'll get a BD version, but I'll buy the DVD if there isn't.

Well, considering the UK got the Uncut Version DVD release of Turtles Forever and US never did, I'll just say I wouldn't hold your breath.

UK's Turtles Forever release was made by a company OUTSIDE of Viacom, Nickelodeon, and Mirage. So, technically, that doesn't count.

Just the more reason to not hold your breath expecting something. ;)

While I so agree, I just don't see it happening. I mean, we'd be given some PRETTY fancy treatment if that were the case (even though we kinda are getting some fancy treatment already :trolleye: )

Powder 09-29-2013 03:35 PM

There's already 2 threads about this UK release.

Well, not two threads exactly dedicated towards it. I know one about the third volume, and another about speculating the release (it was made before info was even provided). And, like we've said, if it's UK, the big chance is that it will be released for the U.S. I mean, isn't the U.S where most of its market COMES from? It would be absolutely absurd not to release it in the U.S.

Coola Yagami 09-29-2013 04:27 PM

Yeah.... let's wait and see. We may not be getting this til December, if at all.

Yeah, I've been thinking that, too. We're certainly not getting it the same date the UK is. If we do, it'll be a real treat, but I doubt it. But it would be dumb if we didn't get this set anyway.

Ramboraph4life aka Matt 09-29-2013 04:39 PM

Although, come to think of it, wouldn't a boxset of Season 1 be around $30?

So if you get the first 2 which are $10 a piece brand new on Amazon, and wait a little for the third one's (released I think October 1st) price to go down...would it not be about the same price?

That's not including getting these things used, so maybe even cheaper. I found the first 2 volumes used for $10 total (that includes shipping).

JH24 09-29-2013 04:45 PM

^

You make a good point, but many people would (also) want the box set for their collection, or because they prefer a complete package over separate volume's.

If the third volume "Ultimate Showdown" was scheduled to be released in the USA on October 1st, then it could make sense why Nick hasn't announced the box set just yet.

They maybe want to wait a little longer for an announcement in order to sell enough copies of the third volume. If it was announced now people might decide to wait longer instead.

The box set for the USA might not be released on November 18th, but (like other members/posters have said) Nick would miss a huge opportunity if they don't release one before the holidays.

NinjaMan 09-29-2013 04:45 PM

Maybe a mod should change the title to say UK is getting a season 1 box set?

I'm going to love it when it's announced that it will be released for U.S as well, and you guys are gonna be all "Oops, should've thought about that". Honestly, U.K gets something, U.S will, too. End of story.

Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. The UK has a whole bunch of exclusive merchandise, including a monthly magazine. & I think the Australian Back To The Sewer DVD set, German version of film 1 (the one that includes deleted scenes and director commentary), the EU Glen Fabry comic covers from vol. 2, UK Fast Forward blind bags, and tons of other non-US items would like a word with you.

....

The U.S. got all the single DVDs. So did the U.K. The U.K. is getting the box set, and the U.S. will most likely get it as well. I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure, but it's very likely.

Everything you mentioned except the magazine and the German version of Film 1 is NOT OFFICIAL the boxset, however, IS. Plus, like Donatello19 said, everything that had to do with DVDs that the UK got that WAS OFFICIAL, the US got.

I have no problem being wrong, especially if it benefits others who are waiting for a set in NA. No biggie :)

Leo656 09-29-2013 07:06 PM

Yeah, like Powder said, not *everything* that comes out overseas always comes out here. Not to mention that the Rainbow Brite complete series on DVD was only available in Region 2 for like, ever.

I mean, not that *I* give a sh*t about that, just reinforcing Powder's point. And that's all.

Jester 09-29-2013 07:28 PM

Come on guys, of course we'll get it. Just like we got a Region 1 release of Turtles Forever Uncut, just like the Brits did.

Oh, wait.....

Oh, wait.....

We also got the 3 Disc Release of Season 1 & 2 of the 87' Cartoon so we finally have Season 2 of the show without 13 episodes cram packed on 1 disc.

Wait...no, didn't get that either...

Leo656 09-29-2013 07:34 PM

BttS on Region 1 DVD :ohwell::x:cry:

Aaronardo 09-29-2013 08:12 PM

Across three posters, you guys just mentioned my whole arguement. They. Are. Not. OFFICIAL. THIS is. Turtles Forever uncut was made by a UK studio that had nothing to do with TMNT beforehand. The OT got the special treatment with UK because of that whole "Hero Turtles" crap (I don't even think the DVDs were actually made with someone with the TMNT, either), and the BttS DVD is the SAME thing. THIS is official. THIS will most likely be released into the U.S, which, last I checked, has the biggest sales in merchindising!

Zany Orange Dude 09-29-2013 09:33 PM

Well hoping this does come to the US (which I believe it will) I can't wait to get my hands on this since I love this show!:tgrin:

drgon78 09-30-2013 06:33 AM

Darn it's a UK release, I thought was too good to be true.:-?
