Episode Opinion: Follow the Leader

Most of us by now know what the summary for the next episode "Follow the Leader" is with Leonardo getting captured by Karai, which makes it possible that she will possibly talk about her past when he is captive.

Which leads to this question and what everyone thinks will happen in this episode.

Do you think Leonardo will find out who Karai is in "Follow the Leader"?

Powder 10-31-2013 02:30 PM

I think it's too soon, so no.

snake 10-31-2013 02:36 PM

probably not. Maybe in the S2 finale.

Leofan26 10-31-2013 03:13 PM

I'd say, in the season final hey'll find out leading to an ultimate showdown between Leo and Shredder out of revenge for Karai :D

This one one will just push the envelop for Leo / Karai's rivalry, they said Karai will play a major part in season two, I'd say prepare yourselves for more Leo V.S Karai fights for the time being :D

Wish they'd show a flippin promo for this already, it airs this weekend right? Why no promos or clips for this?:(

BubblyShell22 10-31-2013 03:14 PM

I doubt it since Karai won't share the information with him herself. She denied the name when Splinter called her Miwa, so she doesn't believe what Splinter knows. If anyone is going to tell Leo, it'll be Splinter himself, but I don't know if he'll tell them in this episode or later.

Aaronardo 10-31-2013 03:22 PM

Karai doesn't know she's Miwa. Unless Shredder came in and mocked him about it (which I highly doubt), it won't happen. Leo may suspect it, however...

BabyTurtles 10-31-2013 04:26 PM

I don't think so....he will probably either suspect or not find out anything at all.

Shark_Blade 10-31-2013 05:05 PM

Nope.

Too early I reckon.

Refractive Reflections 10-31-2013 10:48 PM

I'm going along with most of the people here saying its too early. I mean it took a whole season for Splinter/Hamato Yoshi to find out that his daughter was still alive. The revelation of Leonardo knowing would be too quick of a development, but I'm sure it will spark Leonardo's suspicions of Splinter telling the truth when Karai tells Leo that the Shredder is still alive or about Shredder's revenge, etc. (Remember when Splinter was telling the Turtles he defeated the Shredder? From what I remember last...:ohwell:)

The episode could probably be the small shadow of doubt creeping into Leo's mind to question the full truthfulness of Splinter's character.

blindturtle02 11-01-2013 07:44 AM

Nah, too early. Although I'm wondering if he'll start suspecting... something. Splinter could also unintentionally drop a few clues. We know Leo has feelings for Karai so he might talk to Splinter about this at the end of tomorrow's episode and that in turn could lead to pretty much anything. Or he may not. It's driving me crazy because I'm very curious as to where the writers are going with Karai.

This actually answers my question regarding my brother's questioning of why Splinter chose not to tell Karai the truth in my latest topic. http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=45153 Thanks!:)

On the subject, though it's possible he might speculate, I think Leo will be more concerned about why she's siding with the Kraang despite the Shredder's commands.

Splinter warned them in the first episode of this season that the Shredder may be down but not out. I'm sure they won't be that shocked if they show up again.

I hope we do get to see Leo becoming suspicious of Splinter during season 2. Maybe Leo will get a few scenes where he's attempting to do some detective work in order to discover what Splinter is hiding. He's probably going to be rather unhappy once he discovers Splinter omitting what he found out about Karai at the end of season 1. I'm not sure why Splinter is deciding to keep this information to himself. Family members are supposed to be able to tell each other everything. I would imagine his boys would do their best to support him and to attempt to get Karai to switch sides. But I guess stuff like this is just too painful to discuss right away. Splinter also undoubtedly has allot of thinking to do about his next course of action. The turtles also have quite allot on their plate with the mutagen hunt going on and all.

bridgegrn 11-01-2013 10:21 AM

Well it is a pretty sensitive situation. He found out his daughter, who he thought was killed, is brainwashed by The Shredder into a ninja assasin who wants him and his son's dead. Splinter obviously doesn't even know how to even attempt to straighten that out. In a way it puts them at a disadvantage. They could very well try to tell her but Karai has so much hate for them that she could use that against them. They're still potentially at war. There's so many variables, so many things they could lose, I think Splinter is smart for wanting to think this through instead of telling the turtles who will undoubtedly go after her and probably bite off more than they can chew.

Thanks for informing me again. I knew it was some "form" of defeat because I remember how the Turtles were wishing they were there to see Splinter fight the Shredder. What was strange to me was that, in my eyes, the implicit tone seemed that Splinter didn't want the Turtles to concern themselves too much with Shredder (and consequentially, toward distancing the Turtles in fighting with Karai), unlike Splinter did in the past (i.e. the "we're at war" scene in Season 1).

**shrug** It's all speculation of course, and I'm merely basing this on a summary of this weekend's episode, so we'll see. :P

Bauer536 11-01-2013 12:56 PM

Why do I get the feeling that since there hasn't been any previews to this episode that not many are going to watch it?

Donatello19 11-01-2013 12:57 PM

Not only is it too soon, but Karai doesn't even know she's Miwa, so...

Honestly, I don't see how that would matter. If you when a show airs, you would tend to watch it regardless of whether it's hyped or not.

That said, Turtles does air at 8:30 tonight, so no doubt we'll get one there.

I'm beginning to think this is Casey's first episode, and they don't want to give it away.

BubblyShell22 11-01-2013 02:09 PM

I don't think Casey's in this episode. I think it's all about Karai and Leo here. I'm going to watch it because I know it's on and it's Leo-centered, so there you go.

bridgegrn 11-01-2013 09:36 PM

Didn't Ciro say that there would be a reference to the Leonardo micro series this season? I feel like this episode may be it.

AlZarkovski 11-02-2013 12:27 AM

"Go, ninja, go!":D

saber16 11-02-2013 05:20 AM

... I could see Karai getting personal with Leo in a one on one fight and insult Splinter to get to Leo,

"Drop that noble act, Leo. You say you're all about what's right, fighting with honer and whatever nonsense your freak dad feeds you. "Master Splinter thinks this," "Master Splinter said that," "Master Splinter can do no wrong..." If he's so perfect, why's my mother dead?"

I could see Leo dropping his guard completely

*Sarcasm,*
"O----h? He NEVER told you what he did to her?"

*Her eyes narrow into a piercing glare, her jaw locks her teeth into a clench, and her playful voice turns into a harsh whisper*

"Why doesn't that surprise me...?"

The battle heats up, Leo is keeping up with an enraged Karai, while trying to defend himself and defend his father.

"You freaks are all the same. You preach about making peace, fighting with honor... and the moment someone eats it up, you stab them in the back and spew out more lies to hide just how sickening you all are! He took my mother from me... YOU tried to take my father from me... So, has he included you four inside his warped little fantasy that he'll make me a part of your little family yet?"

I'd have it so Leo doesn't know exactly what she meant, but get him in the loop. Maybe have him keep it to himself for a little bit before confronting Splinter.

That one foot soldier with the mace

zaktheneutrino 11-02-2013 09:34 AM

I don't know if this would be considered the official episode thread but is anybody else disappointed in the fact that the robot foot soldiers appearance was virtually the same as a regular foot? I was hoping for a new image, mainly so we could get a figure, perhaps something resembling the foot tech ninjas would have been cooler. Good episode aside from that. The ending was great! I am curious as to how Leo will react knowing that Karai is Splinter's daughter.

oldmanwinters 11-02-2013 09:36 AM

"Our crazy has become NORMAL!"

:tlol:

JTH 11-02-2013 09:39 AM

Mikey forgot again to say "See ya next fall!" during an elevator shaft fight. :P

pannoni1 11-02-2013 09:40 AM

While some may not like the identical design of the robotic foot, it does provide some confusion against the Turtles. However, the Movie I/Mirage Foot design seems to be more iconic than the OT's, despite being used in more video games.

That said, it does have similarities to the OT's "Take Me To Your Leader", but with the classic Leo vs. Karai action. Sure there was the cliche "use the heroes as bait" device, but the Foot battle was pretty good, especially the elevator shaft and escape across the clothesline banners. The Vanilla Ice shout-out was also clever. One thing is how did the Turtles disappear at the end with the purple cloud, and weren't you going to think that they were going to show the Kraang as the camera panned toward the moon only to see the "4UP" from the pinball machine? Its also nice to see Splinter reveal Karai's pedigree.

Overall: 8/10

bridgegrn 11-02-2013 09:41 AM

Awesome reference to the iffy trench coat disguise

ObiWanFan4life 11-02-2013 09:56 AM

Another solid episode as to be expected. Loved the refrences to the movies. 8.5/10. I do however, have three nitpicks about it.

1.) Why did the turtles carve "Lam-e-ardo" on Leo's sword? That seemed a bit mean-spirited.

2.) How did Leo's sword magically repair itself after it had been shattered by the foot robots?

3.) Why did it never occur to any of the turtles to use water on the robots?

NinjaPug 11-02-2013 10:15 AM

I guess Baxter Stockman became somewhat successful and started his own business based on the Stockman Industries billboard with the mouser on it.

snake 11-02-2013 10:22 AM

Pretty good episode. I wonder when the official discussion is up?

JTH 11-02-2013 10:28 AM

Something got to me though:

This is "Supposed" to be Episode 2, the events triggered made it out like it was episode 2, but Donnie said they had recovered 1 mutagen canister...and a half. Wouldn't that have been the half a canister of mutagen in the Squirrelanoid episode?

Or and I missing a half a canister of mutagen recovered else where.

:So "Follow The Leader" mentions the half a canister in Squirrelanoids
:And "Squirrelanoids" mentions "another" trap in Follow the Leader

So which episode really does come first???

I'm not really complaining, hell it actually gives people actual options of which episode they want to see first.

kelligrafie 11-02-2013 10:34 AM

I AM RAPHAEL.

WHISPERER OF ALL THINGS FEATHERED... AND SHIZZLE.

He's like the turtle Pokemon master of pigeons. Or Pidgeys.

I think they recovered half a canister in Mutation Situation. Don retrieves it after their first skirmish with Kirby. I've only seen it twice so I'm not too sure but I think Don nabs it.

VaughnMichael 11-02-2013 10:44 AM

Quite a bit went down just to move the story along and get to the Leo & Splinter talk about Karai (which most if not all of us already knew).
But still this song went down in my head after.

kelligrafie 11-02-2013 10:46 AM

There's also the fact that Raph tells Donnie not to be too upset about April in Follow The Leader. If the Squirrelanoids came first, why did he not say it then, why has he waited?

I think they merely switched episodes for the sake of Halloween.

Perhaps, but that canister was empty. Does it really count if they're trying to get rid of the actual mutagen?

snake 11-02-2013 10:50 AM

I'm honestly wondering if this was ep 2, because Leo doesn't mention anything about Karai in Squirrielnoids.

Yes, because empty or not it's still a canister that's been accounted for.

BubblyShell22 11-02-2013 04:00 PM

Well, I was wrong. Leo did find out about Karai in this episode, and I loved how Splinter was trusting enough to tell him about it.

As for which episode this is, I'm guessing it's episode two because they mention the part about another trap, and they were trapped when they got one of the mutagen canisters. But it's an awesome ep and one of my favorites.
