Bebop and Rocksteady

After seeing the latest IDW micro featuring Bebop and Rocksteay (Which Rocked) Who would be stoked if they made it to the Show

Allio 11-16-2013 10:32 AM

we already have Bradford and Xever; though if we had to have Bebop and Rocksteady then they should be purple dragons only

n-zero 11-16-2013 10:32 AM

They were on the leaked list of Nickelodeon series toys, so they'll either show up during the crossover with the classic cartoon or they'll be getting new versions this season.

Utromshredderhater 11-16-2013 10:34 AM

Hopefully new versions. Besides I never understood two against 4. Why not even it up

NinjaMan 11-16-2013 10:35 AM

There's a Walmart toy listing for them. Probably will be Fong and one of his dragons. Especially after seeing how they introduced another well known character today.

Uh, no. Bebop and Rocksteady's human designs look nothing like them.

and your point is....?

Dr. Falco wasn't exactly a muscular blonde.... nor was Timothy a nerdy delivery boy... nor was Rahzar ever human...

Either way I'm sure Bebop and Rocksteady are reffering to those over-sized re-done classic characters toyline.

Bebop/Rocksteady were major characters, Rat King never had a real human origin before Nick (his Mirage one was too brief and odd), and Mutagen Man is a minor character.

There's a reason why IDW kept their human designs looking almost the same.

However, Rat King always looked like a muscular blonde dude, not a skinny black hair guy.

What would you do if the show DID turn Fong and them into Bebop and Rocksteady? Learn that it's the way THEY want to run the show, not the way YOU want it.

Well in 4kids he was a clone of Bishop, so not really. Rat King's origin was always changing based on continuity.

I think it would be horrible. People love Bebop and Rocksteady's human designs, I wouldn't see Fong as them because that's not how I view them as humans.

I meant his appearance, since you're talking about Bebop and Rocksteady's human forms. I mean you're so hung up on their human appearance, Rat King could have been some blonde guy that would later turn into the Rat King,

Ironically enough, OT Rat King design-wise was basically Mirage Rat King with a more child-friendly appearance. Every other version, including the more Mirage-ish 2K3 series decided to change his appearance.

There were prices attached to them, and those suggest they're in the Nickelodeon line. The Classics are much more expensive.

LeotheLateBloomer 11-16-2013 12:47 PM

I think it is safe to say that Dogpund and Xever are the Rocksteady and Bebop of this cartoon. Not saying that I prefer them over the former but I appreciate them giving Shredder different henchmen.

Drose18 11-16-2013 05:55 PM

I'm betting the two purple dragon guys not the leader will get mutated.

Coola Yagami 11-16-2013 08:24 PM

I say it's a good way to get a mutant army. Kinda want Karai to accidentally get mutated too to learn her lesson.

CyberCubed 11-16-2013 09:43 PM

I can't believe people keep thinking those throwaway purple dragon characters are going to be Bebop and Rocksteady. They're throwaway characters who were just part of Xever's gang, I doubt we'll ever see them again now.

If Bebop/Rocksteady are in this show we simply haven't seen their human forms yet. Be on the look out for a black guy with a purple mohawk and shades, and a short white guy with blonde hair in army pants.

THAT is who Bebop and Rocksteady are.

Maybe the Leader Fong will become Hun by using Mutagen to give him a powerup.

Turtle-X 11-17-2013 12:47 AM

i hope they show up. they've been pretty awesome thus far in the IDW comics.

Not to mention the Classics are Toys Я Us exclusive for retail.

I can't believe you keep thinking everything is going to be exactly the way it was in past media. I don't remember Rahzar being a ninja master in the movie. Nor was Traag a Golem.

drgon78 11-17-2013 07:04 AM

I do hope Bebop and Rocksteady's human designs are similar enough to be familiar like that Russian guy would make a good Rhino hint, hint, hint.:) That is if they appear in this show's universe.

Cybercubed just wants the show to be "Fan-pandering" the series

martinitolove 11-17-2013 10:03 AM

Maby those figures at toys'r'us are the IDW-versions of Bebop & Rocksteady. For sure there would be a big market for these versions of those beloved characters...

Nah those figures are for the nick show they were listed with the Rahzar figure who debuted in yesterday's episode.

n-zero 11-17-2013 09:14 PM

It might be interesting to see takes on Bebop and Rocksteady that are based around the music styles that they're named after, rather than the 80's punk motif - Bebop could have 1940's zoot suit design while Rocksteady would have a more Jamaican-inspired wardrobe.

Do they even make IDW figures of the turtles? I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm not that into collecting figures though.

The figures were listed at $8.99, along with these other figures:

Battle Shell & Larp variants of the turtles
Kirby Bat
Casey Jones
Tiger Claw
Rahzar
Slash
Mutagen Man

The price means that they can't be the classics line, as those retail for $19.99. The lineup of characters are all from the Nick series, and this line of figures has never featured characters outside of this series.

CyberCubed 11-18-2013 12:52 PM

I'm pretty confident if Bebop/Rocksteady show up their designs will be similar to the OT, rather than more "monster" like such as the other Nick mutant designs, and their human forms will be recognizable.

1. Dogpound/Fishface were human prior to mutation, and are obviously a new mutant henchmen team inspired by the originals. Also with Dogpound being Rahzar now its even more obvious.

2. IDW kept Bebop/Rocksteady's human designs looking as similar as they could.

3. Bebop's purple mohawk and shades will not make sense if his human form doesn't have them.

Who says he'll have a Mohawk. Who says it'll be purple. Could be a black dude with random blonde hair. Who says bebop will even have a human form. It's all up in nicks hands and they keep surprising us at every turn. Did you for a moment expect Rahzar to be a super form of dogpound who used to be an all new character named Chris Bradford. Just wait and see. I see little reason for them to suddenly bring in new gang members anyways. They could even be the last remaining human foot members. Who's to say one of em doesn't have a purple Mohawk under the mask.

Because it's like changing Baxter to white again, there's no reason to alter their human forms.

Because there's some kind of precedent for that...?

Spoiler:
As I typed this, I realized that, because of his fate in Turtles Forever, HUN might be Tokka in the Nick series! Well, it IS just an idea. Since Ciro Neili kinda hinted at Hun coming into the series.

Anyway, Bebop and Rocksteady MIGHT happen. I wouldn't see any reason in bringing them in since we already have Rahzar and Fishface running around and (hopefully, eventually) Tokka. It just wouldn't make sense. Now, having them as a throwaway joke would be pretty cool, but nothing more. Like Raph's "turtle in a trenchcoat" joke.

Especially since they rip open a portal to the OT, this MIGHT happen. Would be so awesome.

However black Baxter never turned into a fly in the comics or 2k3 version, the white one did. I don't see you complaining. No one cares. If you want the OT with a more modern and adult tone go read IDW and leave Cito alone to do what he wants.

NinjaPug 11-18-2013 06:20 PM

I've never understood why people use the IDW comic as a basis for anything related to this show.

CyberCubed 11-18-2013 06:28 PM

The point is everyone recognizes Bebop and Rocksteady's human forms. They will look slightly different than their OT selves, so did the IDW ones...but they will still be the same.

I will be very angry if Bebop is not black and doesn't have a purple mohawk and shades before mutation. Rocksteady's design is a bit more generic, but as long as he has light hair and army pants I'm fine.

???

People can't rewatch episodes or DVDs? Does it matter how long ago it aired when Season 1 is the most rewatched season of the OT?

Avatar Yuffie 11-18-2013 07:04 PM

No need. Bradford and Xever are already their stand in.

It sounds like they are coming in though. They have toy listings just like Rahzar did (and that was before we knew Rahzar was even going to be in the show), and Ciro has dropped hints about them and mentioned them a few times.
