A List of Every Mad Scientist from the OT?

Considering the original cartoon had dozens, if not hundreds, of random mad scientists, I wonder why nobody's bothered to list them all?

Dozens, defiantly just dozens. Actually might just be about a dozen total.

CyberCubed 11-19-2013 07:27 PM

Off the top of my head:

Prof. Sopho (the only one to get two episodes)
Prof. Von Bolt (Aunt Augie episode)
Prof. Von Shrink (Mr. Nice Guy)
Dr. Polydorious (Ray episode)
Prof. Lloyd Cycloyd (Donatello makes time)
Captain Finch (Mona Lisa episode)
Maestro (Leonardo's personality changes episode)
Barney Stockman
Prof. Weasel (Michaelangelo toys around)

There's also a few I forgot their names, like the fat guy who shrunk ships and put them into bottles, the egyptian guy who wanted to harness the power of haley's comet, and the scientists from, "Combat Land."

so about a dozen then :D

The Fifth Turtle 11-19-2013 08:39 PM

Pretty obvious but: Baxters another one.

CyberCubed 11-19-2013 09:45 PM

The "filler" badguys in the show generally ranged from:

1. Mad Scientists

2. Gangsters/Mob Bosses

3. Robots/Computers

Anytime it wasn't Shredder/Krang or a notable mutant character or alien...it was one of those 3.

Von sure seem to be a comman name in the Turtles world for some odd reason.

I think it's a play at Von Frankenstein and Von Doom.
Also the guy from Funny They Shrunk Michelangelo was Talbot Breech, and Prof. Percival Pifflecoot was the guy in Michaelangelo, The Sacred Turtle. (Thanks TMNT Wiki!)

Icebot 11-20-2013 09:37 AM

Also Wally Airhead from Leonardo Cuts Loose.

And Professor Willy Vanilli (forgot how to say it) who got upset for a lilly not being named after him in Raphael vs. The Volcano.

That mutant snake scientist from Snakes Alive.

ryukenden 11-20-2013 12:29 PM

Never really cared too much for these mad scientists as I found them quite boring and their motives were so pitiful. I did remember that one guy who was obsessed with Turtle memorabilia, had a lot of sevens in his address and had robots under his wax statues.

Jephael 11-20-2013 03:32 PM

How bout Talbot Breech, the short dude who created the miniaturizing ray to get back at the navy for not recruiting him? I always loved that episode.

pannoni1 11-20-2013 03:40 PM

We also had:

Professor Willard W. Willard (Turtles of the Jungle)- Notable since Shredder made an appearance.

Maurice (Michelangelo Toys Around)- He did have a wacky ping-pong sniper and kidnapped the toy company's CEO.

Flem (The "Turtlemaniac" from the eponymous episode). He may not have a degree, but had some crazy inventions.

G. Clef (Leonardo Lightens Up)- His enoromous stereo had some deafening potential.

Talbot Breech (Funny, they Shrunk Michelangelo)- The man behind the shrinking.

J. Gordon Hungerdunger (Rhinoman)- His Zombie Serum was so effective an antidote was needed. Once again, Shredder appears in this episode.

Dr. Dome (Michelangelo Meets Bugman)
Dr. Lesseau (What's Michelangelo Good For?)
The two Musclebound Scientists (Donatello's Degree)
Dr. Davens (Unidentified Flying Leonardo)
Wally Airhead (Leonardo Cuts Loose)- Too bad this wasn't a Mega Man crossover
Casbah (Michelangelo, the Sacred Turtle)
Crazy Eddie (Nightmare in the Lair)
Willie Wombat (Phantom of the Sewers)
Rudolph Corbato (Snakes Alive)

That said, there we'rent really any big non-Baxter mad scientists until Season 4. I guess CBS felt that such foes along with random nooks and robots are essential to any SatAM show.

CyberCubed 11-20-2013 03:54 PM

Damn so there were probably close to 20 mad scientists.

He was just one of Wilbur Weasell's henchman...if anyone was the Mad in that...it's Weasell.

Mentioned...
Quote:

Dr. Dome (Michelangelo Meets Bugman)
Only appears in the short Bugman comic sequence...hardly counts.
Quote:

Casbah (Michelangelo, the Sacred Turtle)
How is he a scientist?
Quote:

Crazy Eddie (Nightmare in the Lair)
Ditto him...
Quote:

Willie Wombat (Phantom of the Sewers)
Wasn't Flywheel the scientist?

Prowler 11-20-2013 05:08 PM

Woah, never realized there were that many. And most of the were pretty lame and the episodes involving them were also pretty average at best.

Some of the mad scientist episodes were great. Especially ones in episodes with cool concepts.

I liked Don's Degree and Raphael vs. the Volcano.

snake 11-20-2013 08:47 PM

That's a lot of scientists :teek: I never realized that there were that many!

cammy85 11-20-2013 09:44 PM

Not all of them were a Doctor or Professor. Season 4 was notorious for them. Here goes. :)

Wilbur Weazell - Michaelangelo Toys Around
Barney Stockman (more of a sidekick but whatev): Raphael Knocks 'Em Dead
Captain Filch as considered a scientist - Raphael Meets His Match
Talbot Breech, possibly - Funny, They Shrunk Michaelangelo
Professor Lloyd Cycloyd (used to HATE this guy) - Donatello Makes Time
Professor Polidorius (hilarious/annoying) - Rebel Without A Fin
Dr. Lesseau - What's Michaelangelo Good For?
Professor Filo Sopho (another favorite!!) - Donatello's Degree and Too Hot To Handle
Doctor Davins (hillbilly scientist?? WHY????) - Unidentified Flying Leonardo

Season 5

Wally Airhead (awesome!!) - Leonardo Cuts Loose
Professor Willy Fanilli - Raphael vs. the Volcano (only scientist they never encountered head on)
Professor Mindbender - Leonardo, Renaissance Turtle
Professor Pifflecoot - Michaelangelo, Sacred Turtle

Season 6

Slash - Donatello Trashes Slash (why not??)
Doctor Otto von Shrink (hilarious) - Mr. Nice Guy
Professor von Volt (most dangerous one yet) - Sleuth on the Loose

Season 7

A. J. Howard - Dirk Savage, Mutant Hunter
I can't remeber, but he was part of Stressbar's gang in Combat Land

CyberCubed 11-20-2013 09:54 PM

Crazy. Does the guy from Season 10 who invented the protein computer count?

Prowler 11-20-2013 10:01 PM

And let's not forget, Krang and Baxter Stockman were mad scientists as well. :P

Coola Yagami 11-20-2013 10:24 PM

Another thing is that they were also one-shot characters. I think Sopho earned extra brownie points cause he actually came back. They also needed more exposure and mixing up with the other characters. Like.. Pinkie McFingers even dealt with the Rat King in an ep.

CyberCubed 11-20-2013 10:26 PM

But they did. Some of these mad scientists were in episodes with other mutants like Mona Lisa or Ray.

Which were also one-shots.... though at least Mona Lisa got a toy. I meant bigger characters like Rat King, Slash, I don't know. Anyone. Or at least have more appearances. Or team up with one another. Anything.

cammy85 11-21-2013 10:38 AM

Hmm... I only listed the evil ones. I don't think I can remember all the good ones.

ryukenden 11-22-2013 10:28 AM

There was Professor Willard P. Willard if that name is correct whom Don idolized and got laughed off a scientific demonstration whom had a monkey. That same episode when Don and the Monkey had a Godzilla-esque battle in the middle of NYC.

I really wished they took it easy on these mad scientists that went to the Dr. Insano Institute of Science.

blindturtle02 11-22-2013 11:56 AM

I loved Cycloyd. Does anyone remember the entire laser cuts the derideum song? Yes, I'm too lazy to dig out the dvd. That guy should have been featured in another episode. Having trouble finding out which actor voiced him but he was brilliant.

The laser cuts the Deridium,
The laser cuts the Deridium,
Hi, ho, the merry-o!!
The laser cuts the Deridium!!

The deridium makes the helmet,
The helmet protects my brain,
Protects my brain from the effects of the Cycloyd satellite!!

OK, so it doesn't rhyme!! I'm a scientist, not a poet!! *insane laughter*

BTW, it was Hamilton Camp, AKA the ice of Fenton Crackshell/Gizmoduck on Ducktales and Darkwing Duck who voiced Professor Cycloyd.

Hamilton "GIZMODUCK!!!" Camp was the voice of Dr. Cycloid.

DOH! Beaten to the punch.

cammy85 11-22-2013 08:34 PM

LOL, it took me awhile to find out his name, any longer ant it would've been you. :) I hated Cycloyd's episode back in te day but it's good now. :)

Shiro Kame 11-28-2013 09:34 AM

I made a list of every character from the OT series (thanks to the complete series van set and my laptop), therefore it is sort of a "mad scientist list". Here's what I got:
  1. Warlord Krang
  2. Baxter Stockman/Baxter the Fly
  3. Professor Willard W. Willard (he was a nutjob)
  4. Wilbur Weasel (toy designer that created dangerous toys)
  5. Herman J. Mellish
  6. Barney Stockman
  7. Captain Phineas Filch
  8. Maestro G. Cleff
  9. Talbot Breech
  10. Professor Lloyd Cycloid
  11. Dr. Polidorious
  12. Dr. Dome
  13. Dr. Lesseau
  14. Professor Philo Sopho
  15. Donatello Clone
  16. Dr. Davens
  17. Herman the Horrible/Bork and Dwork (the did make the robot and the weapons to attack Shell-Ri-La
  18. Wally Airhead
  19. Professor Wilhelm “Willy” Vanilli
  20. Professor Ignatz Mindbender
  21. Sir Percival Pifflecoot
  22. Professor Vilmont Von Volt
  23. Dr. Otto Von Shrink
  24. Rudolf Cobrato
  25. Eric the Red-Eye
  26. Professor Moriarty
  27. Denton Nulcet
  28. Krangazoids
  29. Berzerko/Drakus
  30. Titanus
  31. Chronos
  32. Mung

That's basically what I got. Think I got them all? :D

CyberCubed 11-28-2013 10:39 AM

There's so damn many of them. Although I don't count Krang/Baxter or other aliens/mutants as mad scientists, like Mung.

I just count all those generic human crackpots as Mad Scientists.

This is an excellent list and makes me want to see the list of every classic TMNT cartoon character that you made. Could you upload it?

Shiro Kame 12-02-2013 11:45 AM

It would overload the character limit. I could try uploading it on my dA account to see if you want. I originally made it to help in my fanfic, TMNT 2nd Ren since I wanted to intefrate elements from various TMNT universes, so there are alot of notes implemented on it.

lol thanks! That always slays me. It's the combination of that demented voice and the insane cackling, I think.

LOL! I think I just had an idea for a new game down in the forum games section- "Six Degrees of TMNT"! So Fenton/Gizmoduck was voiced by an OT VA? Or is it the other way around? Whatever, it would make for some interesting connections to hunt for!

John Pannozzi 12-02-2013 09:29 PM

Is Dr. Dome also the name of the Justice Force's nemesis from the Mirage comics and the 2K3 cartoon? Guess the OT was making a reference to the comics.
