Mr._Mutant_Man 12-22-2013 10:35 PM

It's beautiful. :o

Maybe if I had won the lottery.

Cipher 12-22-2013 10:38 PM

Not to diminish it as a piece of art, but that auction price is insane. Unless it were molded from scratch or something, but it isn't; it's all paint and decals.

CyberCubed 12-22-2013 10:39 PM

I'd give them maybe $20 tops.

Still six days left. It'll be interesting to see where the price is once that bidding war is over.

Bakushan 12-23-2013 12:23 AM

I am subscribed. I will admit, I made several bids... but $1275... man... im out.

I built my TMNT Arcade from scratch for less than $1000 in parts.

Yeah. But the guy DID rebuild it inside and out, new pin connectors and stuff. He also made the custom plexiglass window which is pretty sweet... lots of work in there. Guy told me there is 8 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear for each color. Many hours of time and attention. There is also 4 custom controllers. :)

Some more pics. :)

zkarlette 12-23-2013 12:49 AM

Man this is cool! But rather expensive.

Eiko 12-23-2013 12:49 AM

Would love that if I had that kind of money to throw around.

Why in the world would he waste his time with 3 coats of clear for each color? It makes no sense as it does nothing for the final product. Unless its a very special paint which requires clear for each color but I doubt it is and it doesn't look to be.

I wonder if the controllers are painted to. I can't see the finish on this holding up at all if played with. They would have been much better of with hydro dipping.

pannoni1 12-23-2013 08:05 AM

Well this is fine art, so its up to the public to decide and in a now "good days" economy, people have more money to spend. I like the design, but would rather fork that much on a worn first print of Volume 1. The only way I would consider is if I could sell all my other games, but I'd be better off trying to create one myself if I had the patience to do so. I'm still the $100-$200 range is my favorite kind of collectible items; affordable but room to appreciate; that's what I would have paid on this.

sdp 12-23-2013 09:14 AM

It's definitely a cool mod, however it's not worth more than a few hundred dollars at most. I have no idea how this got to more than $400.

Well, when I started bidding it was at $200 or so. Then me and a guy got into it, and went back and forth all the way to $1250.

At $400 or so it stopped being worth it to me... but I hate... hate... hate being beaten. So... as a matter of principle... I bid... and bid... and bid.

Finally I told myself "$1250 is it, if someone wants it more than that, I just dont care anymore!". Sure enough, $1275.

No matter how much money you got someone else has more. Oh well.

sgtfbomb 12-23-2013 11:09 AM

Whoever buys it probably won't even use it. It'll be sitting on a shelf in a one bedroom apartment, housing a family of three, who is sleeping in the living room, because the bedroom is housing nothing but "collectible" junk. (Think I'm over-exaggerating, see the documentary Jedi Junkies. It's on Netflix.)

Bit of a generalization...

Had I won it... I would certainly had played it... or even given it away as a prize at a party of on facebook.

I have a 4 bedroom house, a wife, 2 dogs... and a lot of toys. :)

$1275... man... I could not pull the trigger. I appreciate the art and hard work in it though.

Nameless 12-23-2013 11:59 AM

crazy thing is it started at a 0.99 price point. very cool though

Stingray69 12-24-2013 01:07 PM

I think I'm going to have to make one. Just don't know how to make the lighted window decal things. Anyone got any ideas.

dremel out some squares and then use thin lexan for the window. then you can just print clear pictures and stick under (or on top) of the lexan.

Stingray69 12-24-2013 02:02 PM

How do I print a clear pic?

Bmaga123 12-24-2013 02:02 PM

Awesome but way overpriced at 1,275 OMG this thing should of ended less then 500.00. The seller is really lucky probably made 1,200 profit on this thing. :ohwell:

I hate ebay people like you. You bid with another person to completely overblow the price on an item.

Powder 12-24-2013 08:33 PM

Man, this guy is a cancer to the community in more ways than one, eh?

If he is willing to pay the overblown price if he accidently wins it then that's acceptable if not then he should probably delete his account.

SparkyMarky644 12-25-2013 03:40 PM

Wow! That is amazing, I just feel its very expensive and I would buy it in a heart beat if it was anywhere from £100 or less.

Zarana-X 12-26-2013 01:05 PM

This is a beautiful homage to the most rage-inducing game I've ever played on the NES:x

That console is a work of art, though.

If not me than someone else. What's the difference? Obviously someone out there with more money than I have wants it more than me. No matter that the number... that dude was going to win. Right?

More money for the artist... more attention for TMNT... whats the negative here? Am I missing it? :ohwell:

You think I was bidding for fun? I was bidding because I wanted to win. Its beautiful... its amazing... its TMNT... I love it. I really wanted it.. and was prepared to purchase. I set a mental limit... and someone went over that... so I am going to stick to my guns and let him have it then.

I dont see what the negative here is?

If you were willing to pay the $1200 and simply just got outbid, then no issue. If you were not willing to pay, and simply bid the price up in order to spite the other bidder (as your earlier post sort of implied...) then that would not be cool.

Cipher 12-26-2013 11:15 PM

I think he's made it clear that he was bidding up to $1200 with the intention of actually paying were the auction to end on his bid (why else would you go that high?). I don't see what the big D is, although I'll stand by my earlier comment that anything over a few hundred for that is vastly, vastly overpriced.

Sorry about that. YES, I did want to WIN... but not out of SPITE... I had ever intention to PAY that much money had I won. Sure, I agree that it's only worth $400 max, but like I said, I hate to lose. When I bid it up, it was because I was willing to SPEND to WIN if need be.. and I am not scared to blow money on stupid stuff (hello, we are adults collecting children's toys, lol) but even I have to draw a line. I just got outbid.

Agreed, and thank you for seeing my point of view on it and being reasonable. This forum is not that inviting or friendly overall. I have been a lifelong TMNT fan, and was so excited to hang out with others that share my love and obsession with the turtles... I finally got here... and was like... oh... :tsad: lol

This forum has the weirdest chip on its shoulder. It's not just you.

Although I'll point out that we're not all adults collecting children's toys. (Some of us are just adults reading comic books and occasionally watching children's cartoons.)

:) Point taken. :D

The comics rock. Love the original series. As far as TMNT goes much past 1993 and it begins to get blurry.... at least for me anyways. :)

If that's the case, then no worries! Sucks that you lost, it does seem pretty sweet. And welcome to the Drome! :)

Thanks dude. Nice to see a welcoming member. :) :tcool:

discordiatookie 12-28-2013 03:20 PM

It's bloody awesome, and I want one. Not for that price though!

Stingray69 12-29-2013 12:32 PM

What in the world happened that the price dropped all the way down to $620.00 now?
