Your opinion on Megan Fox being cast as April?
 

So as the title says how do you all feel about Megan being April?

From what I've seen on other Websites it has caused a lot of controversy.

At this point I honestly have no real opinion on her yet. Though I do have to question, WHY exactly she got picked for the role....?

I have nothing against her but she just doesn't really scream "April O' Neil" to me for some reason.....

Is it just me?

She got picked because of Michael Bay tbh.

She was cast a year ago, so there's already been a lot of discussion in this and other threads.

Totally miscast, she looks nothing like how April should.

Also I just don't think Megan Fox is that attractive anymore, she's not really the sex symbol she was a couple years ago.

well it's a good thing April isn't known as a sex symbol :)

As in previous thread, I'm not glad that Megan Fox is cast as April. I find her acting abilities extremely lacking in what I've seen her in, but I could be pleasantly surprised.

May I ask how "should" April look? Seeing how there have been so many different incarnations of her.

She wasnt my first choice, but I don't think that she is a terrible choice. Ive seen worse acting, so basically I dont really mind her as April.

Megan Fox as April doesn't bother me at all, I think people are taking this too personal.

I don't really have one. I thought Fox was good in the last 2 movies I saw with her in them (This is 40, Friends with Benefits). I'll judge her performance as April after I see it.

Not a fan, but considering all I've read about the movie so far, she doesn't seem like the worst part of it at this point.

Can't say I like it. There are honestly much better actresses out there than her. But, whatcha gonna do?

Honestly she suck as an actress unless she'd cast in the right role
 

She can play the "whore" like no other but I don't think she has that type of acting needed to play April or play a different range of character I believe. Plus all the other live action Aprils ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE APRIL. She's just her usual self. The one good thin is will arenett looks almost exactly like Vernon. Although I don't like his new brave persona I can deal with it.

I'm more disappointed with Fox agreeing to work with Bay again, than I am with her being April.

I quite like Fox, and with a decent director and script I think she'll be fantastic.

Now we just need a decent director and script...

Although I have yet to see her range. Every roll I've seen is the same type of role. She's the "whore" or the sex symbol like the chick everyone wants to get with. She's excellent in that but I just can't see it.

Can't see what? Her as April? You will soon. Though I would appreciate it if you wouldn't use the word whore. Unless of course, you are referring to a project in which she actually plays a sex worker.

Megan Fox never got any roles for her acting skills. She only gets them for her sex symbol status.

Although as I said, i don't think she's even that attractive anymore. She seems well past her prime. I don't even think she's pretty at all.

I guess it depends what the role calls for her doing. If her role is more-or-less limited to retreading the character of Fred Wolf April; known mostly for being self-important, getting captured, and having big boobs, she should be fine. Yet that's not what I hope April is limited to; I'd like her at least to have the emotional depth of the first movie's April, and prefer to have her learn to fight at least a bit--and I'm not convinced Fox can pull it off.

So it's to be or not to be; whether tis worse to play a lame role perfectly or a good role badly.

Quite happy, looking forward to seeing how she gets on and keeping an open mind (novel idea!) on the whole film until I've seen it.

Your use of "scare quotes" does not change the fact that you cannot provide proof that Megan Fox has played a sex worker, and as such has never been a whore/prostitute. Your reliance on that word leads me to believe you are partaking in the act of slut shaming, and that is offensive. Please stop.

If I'm wrong forgive my ignorance. I didn't see the movie, but the commercials led me to believe she was from a brothel.

I don't hate Megan Fox. I actually enjoyed JENNIFER'S BODY quite a bit (even though most people didn't).

Is she my first pic as April? Heck no! But I guess we'll all have to wait and see... the movie might be entertaining...might be a train wreck!!?? ;)

I really dug "Jennifer's Body" as well. Really clever movie that, and Fox was great in it. Proof that with the right director and a good script she's fine actress.

But...HA! I didn't know that about "Jonah Hex." If you're talking about turtlefanforever I concede the point.

That's the same thing as a prostitute, and somebody already referenced Jonah hex, and I forget the name of the movie but she's a slut in it who sleeps with everyone and then gets sacrificed by some underground band and becomes a blood thirsty monster.
