Official Episode Discussion: S2 #8 "The Good, The Bad, and Casey Jones"

Well, after a (way too long) hiatus, we're finally getting to see some new episodes.

Casey Jones is going to transform into the hockey-masked vigilante that everyone knows and loves, and apparently the Rat King will be making a reappearance for this season. Better hope they know how to deal with the mind-control issue with Splinter... then again, there's something about a giant killer mushroom in a future episode, so maybe it's all a hallucination or something?

I really don't get WHY they're putting the show on Sunday morning at 11am... if they think the ratings will be better, more power to them. I won't be available to view it live, but the thread will be open in time for post-show comments. :)

I'm curious if this is a permanent change or not (I looked at my DVR and it has TMNT at 11am on Next Sat and Sun.)

But it occurs to me that this week's episode seems to be all about Casey Jones, who is very sports themed and today is superbowl sunday...

MrTMNT2012 02-02-2014 08:45 AM

This Episode was absolutely FANTASTIC! :)

Epic fight scenes, great character development and one hell of an introduction to one of the greatest characters in TMNT.

Oh, and one of the best homages in the series yet. I won't spoil it, but great visual reference to the original Ninja Turtles Movie! :D

Vicky82 02-02-2014 08:50 AM

Wow I can't believe I already watched the new episode already, It was a great episode but I'll discuss the episode later when everyone else has seen it.

Yup, this is permanent.

Ok, how did Raph "Accidentally" hit Leo's ribcage? Also this episode seems eerily familiar to Casey Jones' first appearance in the 2k3 show.

snake 02-02-2014 09:08 AM

Excellent episode so far, I love Casey in this series.

Same.

And cool, Casey said "GOONGALAAA!"

Probably because both are based on Raph's one shot that introduced Casey Jones

RaphAndDonnie 02-02-2014 09:15 AM

Watching it right now and loving it. I've got to agree that it is sort of similar to how Raph and Casey met in 2k3. I like Irma and Casey and April's dialogue.

DarkLightDragon 02-02-2014 09:17 AM

Mikey's kind of being more of a unintentional jerk than usual in this episode.

-Burps in Don's face.
-Splashes popcorn in Don's face.
-Teases Raph about giving 10 seconds before flaring up again.

ObiWanFan4life 02-02-2014 09:18 AM

Nice reference to the original comic.

DarkLightDragon 02-02-2014 09:21 AM

Heh, Casey fainted at the sight of Splinter. The fear of rats is new.

What else is new is that earlier in the episode, Casey mentioned a sister. Maybe his nickname for her could be Shadow?

NinjaMan 02-02-2014 09:22 AM

One of the best episodes ever! Even has movie 1 references! Casey is awesome!!!! Him and Raph had an awesome fight scene.

kelligrafie 02-02-2014 09:23 AM

Splinter and April fighting ALONGSIDE the turtles!

Are we not even going to discuss how incredible this was?

I only saw 3/4 of the episode so I'm looking forward to getting the rest of it.

More like Angel.;)

Luckyday 02-02-2014 09:24 AM

Ok. I don't care what anybody say about my theory. I know April has some kind of electroreception. I mean come on! The girl can sense robots.

ObiWanFan4life 02-02-2014 09:32 AM

Aside from Mikey being flandarized in this episode, overall it was an effective way to introduce Casey Jones.

That was awesome!

Great episode! I can't wait for next week! I wish Irma had a bigger part though

NinjaPug 02-02-2014 09:34 AM

Really liked it. Good intro for Casey.

- Liked the homage to the Raphael one shot

- Loved the references to the 90 film esp Casey seeing Raph on the rooftop

- Great action sequence with Raph/Casey on the train and at the train station

- Good to see Splinter get in on the action

- I hope Casey's sister is Angel

- anyone else think Irma wasn't going to talk at first?

NinjaMan 02-02-2014 09:35 AM

Casey has become my favorite supporting hero. He is totally wicked in this version. What a great episode.

CyberCubed 02-02-2014 09:35 AM

Anyone notice they copied the scene from the first movie with Casey watching Raphael on the rooftop exactly?

Electric 02-02-2014 09:35 AM

the casey raph fight scenes were great. and seeing april and splinter fight with the turtles was awesome.

i also really liked how they introduced irma too, as just another character. no episode devoted to her introduction, or scene for it. after seeing her on aprils phone, and in the hall way earlier this season, i like how adding her was nothing out of the ordinary

Even better.

TigerClaw 02-02-2014 09:36 AM

Just finished watching this episode, I thought it was really good. :)

snake 02-02-2014 09:36 AM

Yeah, I thought Irma was going to be silent. She sounds sort of like April.

CyberCubed 02-02-2014 09:36 AM

I can't believe nobody mentioned that Splinter finally explained the Turtles names came from a Renassaince art book. They never explained this in Season 1.

FINALLY. Kids of today know where the Turtles names came from!

I think they knew that already. A simple google search would've told them.

FANTASTIC debut for Casey! :tgrin:

Casey taking out the purple dragons was great!

Really liked his notebook Mirage sketch. :tlol:

It was great to see a fight involving April and Splinter! And April using her abilities with ease.

I liked seeing the subway tunnel set again... brought back some good memories. :twink:

Anybody else notice the "Users are Losers" poster in the modern subway station? :tlol:

I like Irma! I hope we get to see her again soon! :tsmile:

I loved Casey's attempt to jump scare the guys with his face paint. :tlol:

Was this April's first time calling them all by full names?

Glad to have new episodes back! :tgrin:

Vicky82 02-02-2014 09:38 AM

Brilliant and intence Episode.

Purple Dragons are back
Casey taking out the Purple dragons was great
Raph vs Casey fight scene was epic and intence.
Casey spotting Raph on the roof was a reference to the original movie
April and Splinter fighting alongside the Turtles was wicked
Raph and Casey fighting the Foot Bot on the train was also epic
Eastman name on Casey's hockey stick
Irma in the episode and talking
Casey thought the Turtles were Italian
We know why Raph hid into his shell, he saw a cockroach that Mikey was holding.

I think Donny should start thinking about putting up some security in the Lair.

Welcome back LH, haven't seen you in awhile.

I love how Casey and Raph bonded at the end. What a great episode. This season has been awesome. Gonna watch this one at least 10 more times lol.

Maybe it just me but doesn't she seems more of an alpha friend of the two? Hmm...interesting.

Donatello19 02-02-2014 09:40 AM

Best season 2 episode yet (I say that every week, don't I?) Casey was just amazing, I can't wait to see more of him. I really like his relationship with Raph. Splinter and April fighting the Foot at the end was great, and for a second I did actually think that their location would be given away. It was interesting to hear that Casey has a sister and a Dad in this incarnation. Irma was pretty cool too, I like her voice and design. There were a lot of references! The whol "anger plot" and the introduction to Casey felt just like 2K3, the introduction of each turtle and why their names are like that, and Casey's drawing in his notebook was a mirage comics style turtle! Sweet! I could keep rambling, but let's just say I loved it and won't rest until I find the Casey Jones action figure.

Also, in the promo for the next episode, you can see April in all white clothing at the end. Brace yourselves...April Derp is coming...

Electric 02-02-2014 09:40 AM

i also really liked mikey in this episode, even though he didnt do too much. He had his typical obnoxious little brother attitude, with the counting down and the cockroach, but it seemed less, immature? and then when raph and casey and leo were sitting there arguing when the foot came in the lair, mikey just ran straight through them and started fighting. i definitley think hes maturing and i love it

NinjaMan 02-02-2014 09:42 AM

This episode was best animated version of introducing Casey to me. Enjoyed it so much. Ranks up there with the Gauntlet for me.

It seemed the turtles were escaping with her. Maybe the clone looks like her until it goes bad and turns into that ugly thing.
