The scroll on Eric Sachs' wall...

So I was scanning the trailer frame by frame, searching for things to speculate about...and a closer inspection of the scroll on Eric Sachs' wall yielded the following find...

http://i.imgur.com/VLq6hab.jpg?1

If it is what I suspect they are...then this all feels very familiar...Kappa from TMNT III anybody?

I know that the BLUE DOOR script was heading in this direction, and they've since written and shot another script entirely, SO this could just be a scroll used for background artwork they have NO intention on focusing on, or ...

- this could be the turtles ancestors? I don't hate the idea...but its not my first choice.

Already a thread. And yes, those look like turtles.

xChri5x 04-11-2014 09:24 PM

and Utroms are in there as well. This is all covered in the "Utroms" thread.

TrickOrTreater 04-11-2014 09:26 PM

As well as what look like little men about the same size as Splinter is said to be in this movie fighting with/against the Turtle beings.

EDIT: I just noticed one of the Utroms in the red square is holding a sword.

SwiftNinjaFox 04-11-2014 09:26 PM

Already a thread, but danged if that's not the best enlarged image I've seen of it yet.

Any chance of getting other areas of it to the same size/quality?

snake 04-11-2014 09:28 PM

Where are the utroms? I see one, but I cant find any others.

There's a guy on here whose friend actually owns the damn thing. A physical copy.

Wish he'd take some hi res shots of it.

MajorViolence 04-11-2014 09:29 PM

It's possible this scroll depicts a prophesy instead of an actual event. I think it's more likely depicting a previous attack on earth by Krang, but I'm not ruling out a prophesy just yet.

a couple of months ago, Someone in this forum posted an image of the Scroll from the Production, And you can tell that they altered it.

my apologies, did not do my due diligence - any admin please feel free to lock the thread or delete it altogether.

as the original poster, can I delete it? if so, how?

I could try to enhance other sections...but this one came out blurry as it is, the only reason it was worth it was because the green characters with shells were so prominent, Im sorry about that.

Only mods can delete threads. I really don't see the purpose of this one being deleted though.

The scroll makes me nervous.

It could be a prophecy....

It could be a history....

Either way, it still smells like blue paint on a door.

Ancient Turtle warriors, Utroms, little men around the same size Splinter is supposed to be...

"I see a red door and I want to paint it blue..."

I've been excited for this film, until I saw these myself...and now others are pointing out the Krang as well...and like you, its making me...

...nervous. even if it is history, its alludes to the fact that other Turtles exist or have existed. either way, I've always enjoy the Ninja Turtles, as 4 unique individuals, and the product of an accident. mess with anything else, but NOT that. please not that.

TMNT 3 was not a good movie. Not the wisest idea going around citing ideas from it that might be included in this new movie.

So...what're you trying to say?

That the Turtles and Splinter in this movie are the descendants of ancient Japanese mythological monsters?

TRICK...i dont often agree with you, but yes, a bummer indeed. A race of turtles...race of rats...basically an entire race of anthropomorphic animals - the one thing I always disliked about the Turtles over the years was the flux of other mutant individuals, and alien races...

...it detracted from the uniqueness of the Turtles, and all the sci-fi overshadowed their nature as shinobi.

man, im getting more bummed by the second.

Which, if true, just calls back even more to Blue Door.

Race of Turtle-like and rat-like beings from Dimension X.

And since the Utroms are clearly there, that just lends even more credence.

SwiftNinjaFox 04-11-2014 10:18 PM

I know it's not in the realm of possibility, being different IPs and all, but....

Just one...just ONE white headed figure with some long ears among all that. C'mon, man.... :3

I will say this. All the negativity, all the nervousness, all the "dammit, they are going to really screw this up" feelings....

They're actually good. They're good for the film, believe it or not. Because if you go into a movie with ZERO positive expectations, the movie can exceed those and you can walk out going "Y'know....it wasn't great or what I hoped, but it was actually a lot better than I expected it to be."

Look at GI Joe. Rise of Cobra, you go in with nostalgia for the movies and how awesome the DDP comics had gotten only to be really let down by Halo suits and a lot of nonsense. That first movie battered expectations so low that Retaliation wasn't half bad compared to what was expected. :D

Ha, gotta admit, that would have been pretty neat.

We are both prop collectors over at the rpf.com I messaged him asking if he would mind giving me a closer look at it and he said he's been asked not to put up any high res/detailed images of the piece until the movie comes out.
He didn't buy the piece, it was gifted to him by a friends girlfriend, I think.

Being that there are two versions of the poster It makes me wonder A: how much of the story has been changed and reshot, and B: Is there an element of time travel in the film?

bridgegrn 04-12-2014 04:49 AM

I'm guessing Shredder is trying to create his own army like in the picture and creates Splinter and the turtles (complete with martial arts knowledge) only to find them a success but uncontrollable. Hilarity ensues.

BubblyShell22 04-12-2014 08:35 AM

You know, it's one thing to just have Utroms in there, but this is making it look like the Turtles actually are aliens or descended from an alien race as Michael Bay first talked about. Not liking this at all.

TheMexicanStaringFrog 04-12-2014 08:50 AM

If you look closer you will notice that all of the turtles on the painting have their corresponding weapons, except the one that is suppose to be Mikey because it's back is turned.

BODYCOUNT 04-12-2014 08:56 AM

turtles time traveled in an attempt to stop krang make the foot in feudal japan. so those are the 4 turtles and splinter. sachs scroll initially left out the turtles but after his failed experiments or the ooze feel in the sewer the scroll changed. because the future has changed. the turtles were created and traced the badness back to ancient japan and went back. sachs is tripping because the scroll changed with the same mutants appearing he has confronted and knows he is responsible. hi jinx ensues.

and i havnt even cheifed yet

SwiftNinjaFox 04-12-2014 09:08 AM

Ohhh no no! I got it!

The big surprise is this isn't a reboot at all! It's a continuation from the original trilogy.

Oroku Saki has already been defeated in TMNT 2

The turtles time traveled in TMNT 3

Eric Sachs is a new guy taking up the Shredder persona from Saki and has militarized the top members of the foot clan since their martial arts weren't enough under Saki.

It all builds on the original trilogy, though some liberties with details have been taken.

 :D

Ssshhhhh, don't think about the details, just let my insanity guide you.

Go on and point out inconsistencies, my madness can explain them, I'm sure ;)

They are not teenagers anymore, they are man now. And this April is the daughter of original April who became a drunk and went insane after Casey baled when she told him she's pregnant. Vernon is actually Danny from the first movie.

Hmmm...no, no. Casey wouldn't be involved in re-creating the Ooze.

Perhaps this is April's niece. ;)

"Just keep your expectations so low that by the time the movie comes out you no longer care that it's terrible because it could maybe have been worse."

Also both GI Joe movies were awful. If that's the minimum standard then what's the point?

I also went into X-Men: First Class with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised, despite still having issues with that film too.

But yep, you've pretty much got the gist of it.
