GrapeSoda 04-25-2014 04:02 PM

HOLY F*****G S**T!! If THAT was the martial arts fighting in TMNT 2014 I'd eat my Sideshow Zartan with Texas Pete's Hot Sauce!

*eep! edited for 2014 clarity

discordiatookie 04-25-2014 04:18 PM

That was magnificent! Not only mad skills, I could actually see the turtles' personalities during the fight. Brilliant!!

electric_sheep 04-25-2014 04:22 PM

That was crazy good, the sad thing is we won't get anything even close to this in the movie.
Though annoying music, overuse of slow-mo and mismatched soundefects kinda took me out...

raphmike 04-25-2014 05:15 PM

wow all of them doing well cool.

Refractive Reflections 04-25-2014 06:20 PM

What's funny is that in this era of YouTube, there is almost no excuse not being able to find talented individuals who can excel in martial arts as a TMNT film would demand, as this clip proves. AND who would gladly accept a fraction of the income most "big time" performance actors or Hollywood actors demand. But...

But as usual **sigh**, Bay and the staff believes that having 'roided big ol' Turtles (with Raph and Leo), superfluous "cool" apparel, and many, many explosions are all what the public wants.

Who knows, maybe the production staff did find a somewhat decent team of martial arts stunt actors, but it doesn't seem to be a big priority if these Turtles are going to be so huge and hulkish (as we fear). I mean, it almost makes learning martial arts obsolete in a way, if they are so big/strong that they can easily swat these Foot Soldiers like flies.

turtlefanforever 04-25-2014 06:41 PM

damn

that was awesome

Bry 04-25-2014 07:27 PM

This is the BEST.

Seriously - imagine a TMNT movie teaser that was basically just this, but mo-capped? I would be in line right now.

Puddinpop 04-25-2014 07:53 PM

The video was Awesome and id love to see something like that in this TMNT film. Maybe we will : )

Hopefully it'll put your mind at ease, it certainly did for me:

...this is the BIG 3 - a nickname this trio has earned over the past several years for dominating the Martial Arts Tricking scene - TWO of them are listed as stunt doubles for the Turtles:

- Daniel Graham, and Jeremy Marinas

the great thing to me about the CGI Turles is that one can be used for the acting, emoting, voice...but a talented martial artist can be brought in for the movesets (acrobatics, hand to hand combat, weapon use, etc.)

Cure 04-25-2014 08:22 PM

I wasn't feeling it. Dude with the nunchucks swinging at whole lotta nothin'.

from what i have heard the fights wont be done by stunt men, they just thought the actors how to pose

i could only dream that the turtles would move like these 4 in some future form

snake 04-25-2014 08:45 PM

That was awesome. If only the new movie had turtles who fought like that..Or maybe it will, but I highly doubt it.

Raven 04-25-2014 08:55 PM

I was just going to post this! I love Rivens work, check out his naruto and street fighter videos as well!

Seriously Some one else gets it Ive posted on several occasions all of the great stunt men and women involved posting videos and stunt demos and they do pretty much the EXACT same style and form,

dont give up hope fellas - i know we havent seen THAT much yet, but check out the vid in my previous post - I can't imagine they would hire these caliber stuntmen to just stand around.

SwiftNinjaFox 04-25-2014 09:08 PM

Very nicely done. I'm seeing a few complaints on here, but c'mon, for a YouTube video? Pretty damn sweet.

As someone else noted, I liked that they put in a bit of their representative turtle's personality into it.

Sure, I'm not doubting that at all. It was just boring. Gotta have some flair and pizzazz to keep me interested.

Allio 04-25-2014 09:09 PM

The major thing is, would these guys be able to move in the turtles motion capture suits as they do here (going by what we see from the behind the scenes) no not really, has any of these guys done any suit acting at all

Sure, the video is great, but can they replicate that while wearing the turtle suits

and while I do love the fight scenes, I think the fight scene between Gokai Red and Gavan Bootleg from Gokaiger vs Gavan would work a bit better with the inclusion of the giant motion capture suits

The suits, absolutely no reason they couldn't with a Mo-Cap suit.

The SHELL, on the other hand..... ;)

Where did you here that? Bc I don't see why they would pay all that money for talented stunt doubles for nothing.

leotardo 04-26-2014 12:14 AM

I think they should just go to china and recruit wushu athletes from beijing wushu team. I mean this is live and not done in multiple takes or so.

Heres the link if the video wont play here. Trust me its worth looking at.

When you put a giant shell on someone's back and a tight skinsuit there's no way they can move like this alsothe best stuntman in the world can't make a movie good if the director is crap. I can give you a milion expamples but you wouldn't listen.

The whole point of mo cap is to be free moving Spandex isn't restrictive now the Shell is a different thing but we haven't seen the stunt actors they might have smaller shells

The guys in the first second and third film wore bulky rubber suits and they seemed to do just fine.

These are solid, big shells.
Can`t imagine someone making a backflip with these things on. :ohwell:
(thinking of the second movie where Leo and Raph have to do some)

Ive heard that they are almost foam like inside and that the skin is the important material. The old ones had Fiberglass shells and sometimes thick rubber so id think it would be more difficult to do flips in the old ones no? I also saw a few doubles on set in Mo-cap suits without shells. Either they were other mutants or they were turtle doubles. But I think flips aside, that we will see some good fight scenes.

chrisdude 04-26-2014 08:10 AM

1. We haven't seen set pictures or videos of fight scenes, so why are we assuming what the stunt actors would wear in those scenes?

2. Why the heck would you think they wouldn't take off the shells if they needed to? Do think think they can't record motion without wearing the shell? The shell is probably there for spacing and contact between people and objects. Surely, they can record some flips or spins without the prop, and add the shell later.

Other than the shell, the suit is just spandex. They should be completely uninhibited.

C'mon.

They did good, but not this level

heck the only time Live Turtles suits had anywhere close to the flexibility/speed of the TMNT Style was the Next Mutation and Space crossover (that one trick Mikey did was awesome)

Rooish 04-26-2014 11:00 AM

That was very cool.

Nunchaku seriously don't seem like they'd be effective against long-range weapons, except to maybe catch them on the chain... what can you do with a nunchaku in a fight against a bo? Or a katana? Or even a sai?

Xav 04-26-2014 11:29 AM

Or a gun? Which is what the bad guys will have in the new film.

you'd be surprised,

So come cops can become masters of certain weapons(mastery) and there is a cop who specializes in Nunchaku, it, there was a video I havent been able to find again about a "ninjustu master" who specializes in nunchaku he has so much control he might as well be swinging a sword and it wielded correctly can have more then enough reach to be on par with a katana. In the video they test his aim and he hits an 100 mph base ball with enough force of a person swinging a bat

Edit so i found it kind of. It was from an ep of Stan lees super human his name is Hiroki,

The Fifth Turtle 04-26-2014 01:48 PM

That was ****ing epic. First YouTube video I've watched to the end in a long time. So cool. Motion capture suits? f*** it just paint the guys green.
