Jason Biggs recast as Leonardo. Seth Green to replace him
So for those who watched the Pizzaface episode knows that Leonardo has been recasted for the episode. What we don't know if this is only a one-episode thing or if this is a permanent replacement.
The original cartoon series sometimes replaced Donatello or Shredder for an episode with a different VA when their actors were too busy in real life. But I can't think of any modern cartoon that replaces a VA just for one episode, its usually a permanent replacement. Keep in mind voice work for shows are usually recorded months in advance. Today's episode was probably recorded back in January. So this could have been a long time coming as a reaction to Jason Biggs controversial comments months ago, (as the episodes he already recorded would have been done while that was going on). Discuss. |

I haven't seen this episode yet. How did the substitute actor sound? |
As I said on tumblr, maybe they recorded that episode during his wife's pregnancy and he had to be there for an appointment.
It was one of the episodes they showed a clip of at a comic con, as was the Manhattan clip of Splinter of Shredder. Which I find odd, seeing as both episodes have screened mid season, you'd have thought they would've shown an earlier episode for a preview. I don't know if that indicates when they did actual voice recording though. I don't think Dominic Catrambone (the 'new' guy) sounded that bad. He did one of the games too, which featured pretty much everyone else from the current cast. |

And, personally, I thought his overall performance was pretty good. It just sounded like Jason Biggs had a cold or something, just a little off to me. |

I can't remember it happening more then once though. |
Funny how Leo only had like 5 lines in the Pizzaface episode. Good thing he wasn't recasted in an ep he had a major role in.

I'll be really disappointed if they recast Biggs due to the whole twitter incident. That shouldn't be something that's held over his head because of an oversight on the Nick Promotional team. Anyone with two brain-cells to rub together knew that Biggs' personal Twitter Feed wasn't meant for children, and it was really crap planning on Nick's part to link to it.
Having said that, Biggs often "phoned in" his recording sessions, as he lives in New York and Nick Studios is in California. That they've actually used someone else's voice is far more damning than him not being in studio pictures. If it's true that he has been fully recast, that'll be one more nail in the coffin for this show for me. |

Jason's a busy guy with his acting but he's also controversial. He just did a video which was produced by PETA, begins with Biggs cheerfully saying, “When I have kids I can’t wait to take them to SeaWorld,” followed by him muttering, “maybe they’ll get lucky and see one of the trainers get their legs ripped off.”

Or he just did it for a paycheck.

Also note that you never see Jason Biggs with the rest of the cast, when there at a Con like Comic Con and such.
Is he really that busy that, he can't find a time to join the rest of his cast mates for an appearance at a comic book convention? |

This cartoon was so solid, and now it's less so. It's disheartening. Quote:

Here's the video he shot dissing SeaWorld.

In his defense, Sea World is pretty effing horrifying.
Animals as intelligent as Orca really shouldn't be enclosed and on display like that. But that's neither here nor there. |
So will his Seaworld rant cost him his role as Leo?
I won't lose any sleep. |
I saw the credits for the new episode and Dominic's role is in the secondary list of characters and isn't listed alongside Rob, Greg, and Sean.
Needless to say personally if it was official, they would have put his name with the rest of the main voice actors to give him recognition. They didn't list him as a main actor, so I'm going to believe that he's still not and this was a one off thing. Being this episode was SO filler, I wouldn't say Biggs was held with a gun to his head and made to show up. |

I didn't even notice the change.

I also fully expect the Karai/Miwa plot to be resolved at the seasons end as well as the Kraang to retreat to Dimension X. |

In short: I disagree with you. If you like this season, congratulations! You like a thing! This season isn't living up to my expectations. That doesn't make my opinion wrong. |
I bet it's entirely due to the way April is handled. Isn't it?

Because you clearly didn't read it the first time:

So according to some new tweets it seems Leonardo might be replaced permanently.
I wonder why they decided to fire Jason Biggs? |
Major bummer. I actually thought he was a pretty great Leonardo. Oh well.:(

Credit where credit is due, the replacement is quite good.
Any sources for this Twitter kerfluffle? Because I'm not seeing it. |

But I'm certainly glad Dominic is doing a good job from what we've heard. He definitely has Jason's way of speaking right, some lines were a little too soft but when he gets more into his role it should be fine. His voice is a little bit rougher (for lack of a better word) but I'm sure we can get used to it. |
Hmm, I thought he was replaced because he was busy. Dominic posted on Twitter yesterday, and I have the feeling he may be a temp.

You know as much as I love this show I do have to agree with this, it is a little disappointing how they handle they main, most engaging storylines and characters. I hate how they use Mikey and how they flip flop between filler episode, karai episode, kraang episode, filler, filler, kraang, etc... Although my mileage varies in that in doesn't lower my love of the show any, just makes me a tad disappointed. I think perhaps some of us are still used to the structure of the 2k3 show, which is what I would prefer. |
