If the film leaked early...would you watch it?

I'm curious...I'll be honest, and say I would, simply because I'm so hyped to see a new incarnation of the Turtles.

Would I still see it opening day in theaters? Yes.

But seeing as I'm the type of person who loves seeing things I enjoy over and over again, I know seeing a leaked copy early, wont ruin my enjoyment of seeing it in theaters.

You?

MajorViolence 05-20-2014 11:24 PM

I totally would.

samxsteal 05-20-2014 11:27 PM

Nope i would not

pennydreadful 05-20-2014 11:31 PM

Based on my current feelings about the movie, yes, if I had the chance to save $$ by watching a leaked copy, I absolutely would. If it was good, I'd then happily pay to see it at the cinema.

Let's be brutally honest here, there are probably going to be cam copies out there well before it gets released outside of the US (not wanting to derail this into a fratching session about illegal downloads... I'm just pointing it out is all.)

Puddinpop 05-20-2014 11:40 PM

Uh... good question lol. I really honestly don't know.. I would try not to.. but if the torrent was sitting right in front of me? God.. honestly it would be unbelievably difficult to not download it and at least watch a little. Nothing will stop be from seeing this in 3D and 2D a few times.. I've been waiting since 09, technically since the 90's lol. I'm gonna go with no. I wouldn't want to ruin it for myself. I want to experience it on the big screen first. I've waited to long. I've never been so stoked for a film in my life.

electric_sheep 05-20-2014 11:40 PM

Of course, i'll torrent it as soon as it's online...

The Boston Ninja Turtle 05-20-2014 11:43 PM

of course...wont admit ive done it before....and it still see it in theaters at some point

What makes you think that? That cam torrents will show up early before its release? And how early do you think they will pop up? I heard that GOTG had a prescreening. I wonder when TMNT will have one. I've been to a few and they wont even let you have a cell phone in there.

Wildcat 05-20-2014 11:49 PM

If it was a good quality version, yes. Most likely won't be though. It wouldn't be DVD rip quality.

bmxbandit 05-20-2014 11:56 PM

i would definitely try and get a copy of it but wouldn't actually watch it until i saw it on the big screen. i wouldn't want to ruin that opportunity. then after seeing it for the first time in theaters then i'd watch the heck out of it. :)

TMNT is cooler than MOTU 05-21-2014 12:14 AM

It depends on the quality. If it was from some dude's cellphone, no. But if it was a screener of some kind, sure. And if I ended up liking it, I'd gladly shell out the money to see it in a theater.

You and me both bro; my excitement for this film is bordering obsessive, it's kinda strange, lol.

Same. I can't afford to see it multiple times in theaters, but I'll definitely do myself a favor and see it once. Then the copy would be a mainstay on my phone until iTunes released it properly.

CyberCubed 05-21-2014 12:15 AM

Yes so I can post spoilers and an angry rant about it online.

Sorry Puddin, just to clarify - I meant before the release in countries outside the US. I'm in Australia and it's pretty common to have cam copies of major films on the torrents before they're out over here.

Sewer Sirens Podcast 05-21-2014 12:20 AM

Noooooooo.

I don't even watch TRAILERS (made an exception for TMNT, but didn't watch any trailers for arguably my most/second most anticipated movie of the year, ASM2, and the pay off was great), because when I see the movie, I want to have the full cinematic experience. The quality of the footage, the sound, and I definitely don't want to know what happens.

If people see the movie before me? Oh well. Will I have to avoid this forum? Sadly, yes. Oh well. But seeing the movie as it's meant to be seen is something I highly value.

I'm surprised because the whole point of a trailer is to get you excited for the film...now granted, trailers lately have been giving practically everything, so I can understand where you are coming from, but I could never go so far as to avoid ALL trailers, but that's just me.

Sewer Sirens Podcast 05-21-2014 12:30 AM

Usually if I'm already pumped for the movie, and I KNOW I'm going to end up seeing it, I avoid trailers. I started this only a year ago, and have been doing it hardcore ever since, so it's still sorta new to me. And trust me, there is a HUGE temptation to watch them, because something I used to do is sit down and watch a whole bunch of trailers. And rewatching and rewatching. To the point where it took some enjoyment out of the film.

The big reason I'm watching these TMNT trailers is because it's so controversial, I've been waiting for this movie forever, and I have to review them on our podcast. That's why I'm glad we have seen minimal things from this movie, unlike all those ASM2 trailers that gave away the whole movie.

As to how people manage it, I have no idea - but there's already cam copies of Godzilla out there, and it only came out in Oz last week. It seems that most cam copies come from the States, and a lot of the clean telesync/webrips are coming from Korea at the moment (though they have hardcoded subs). Most dvd-quality screeners come from the US as well.

I'll be honest, while i think that ASM2 gave practically everything away during its marketing phase, if the Turtles did, because I have never been more excited or attached to a property in my life, not only would I watch everything online, but I'd see the film in theaters too. But that's the exception I make for the turtles, my heros since I was lowly immigrant, lol, true story.

Aw, that's sweet, graphic! :) Stories like that warm my cynical old heart - despite all of our differing opinions, the boys in green mean a lot to all of us.

Personally spoilers don't bother me (I've been immune to them since the Star Wars prequels), so if the next trailer was plot-heavy I wouldn't mind. At this stage of the game and until I hear more after the US release, I fully plan on still seeing it at the cinema when it finally comes out, cuz hey - Turtles on the big screen doesn't come along every day.

Candy Kappa 05-21-2014 01:40 AM

Sure, I'd probably watch it.

O I see.. gotchya. Yea I will never ruin this for myself with a crappy cam copy. I've already done that for a few movies that I waited a long time to see and I regret it every time lol.

Zulithe 05-21-2014 03:53 AM

If it leaked in good quality and more than a week from release, most likely.

if we're talking only a few days before it hits theaters then no. I can wait to see it in a superior experience.

RedRocBoy 05-21-2014 07:33 AM

I would be really tempted but I don't think so. Even though I'm bout ready to flip out waiting on this movie. So excited. :tgrin::tgrin::tgrin::tcool::tcool::tcool:

Shark_Blade 05-21-2014 07:54 AM

Nope, I have class compared to lowlife scums who do those things.

Always go to cinemas and buy legit copies.

Coola Yagami 05-21-2014 08:37 AM

Maybe online to save some money... And it'll still be so sucky I'd still want my money back. Remember we have to speak with our wallets here. Let them know we don't want their craptastic tmnt movie. We want someone else to make a better one.

prophecy718 05-21-2014 08:40 AM

If the quality is crap, I won't watch it. If it's 1080p high definition (which is very unlikely to get before a theatrical release), yeah I would watch it.

So in the likely situation, I wouldn't watch the leaked copy :)

Radical Raph 05-21-2014 08:42 AM

I wouldn't watch it, but I'd be willing to hear what people think of it.

I didn't watch the leaked Wolverine movie that came out years ago, but I did cycle through the reviews on it. Especially when it is so close to the release date, I might as well wait for the theatrical version.

TurtleTitan97 05-21-2014 08:56 AM

I probably would watch it if it leaked.

Glados 05-21-2014 10:34 AM

I really, really don't like seeing movies and stuff for the first time in lack-luster quality... so no, probably not. And I'm not even going to be seeing this film in the theaters, I'm waiting for the DVD! (I have my reasons) I'll have to stay away from almost all things Internet and especially this forum for as long time, jeeze...

CowabungaMikey 05-21-2014 10:38 AM

Nope, I'm waiting for the cinemas. That's the plan anyway.

Kanon 05-21-2014 11:03 AM

I will watch it in the cinema.
I will pay the full price, buy popcorn and enjoy it, hopefully on a seat in the last row :D

Just one thing to say:
I want to watch it in 2D cause I hate the 3D glasses and the last movie I watched it 3D was most of the time just "flat". It`s not worth it.

nimajneb 05-21-2014 11:26 AM

As a UK fan i'm waiting till October so i'll be pleased if i haven't managed to spoil it for myself by then.
But i'm strong willed - i'll be first in line at my cinema

Cryomancer 05-21-2014 02:10 PM

No, because I don't want the MPAA on my ass for something that probably isn't even gonna be remotely worth it.

chrisdude 05-21-2014 02:16 PM

Depends on when it happens. If a rough cut leaked tomorrow, absolutely. If it was like the week of release, I'd wait.

Whatswiththeheadbands? 05-21-2014 02:52 PM

No, in short.

I'm totally with you. i avoid watching trailers for films i'm stoked about. for 10 years now.

GeneralTragg 05-21-2014 03:02 PM

I might actually enjoy a low res copy of this movie over an eye blistering HD version, it'll cut down on some of the atrocity that is the turtles, but then my enjoyment would be dependent on the story and I've read the blue door script...

Sumac 05-21-2014 03:31 PM

As I am not cinemagoer, I most likely will wait for the DVD / whatever-this-movie-will-be-released-on-rip. As a rule, I usually don't watch movies recorded from the screen in the cinema, but for this project I am willing to make an exception. Even if it currently looks like it will be a disaster, it's still project related to the Turtles.

Vicky82 05-21-2014 04:12 PM

No, unless the suspense starts to kill me or make me go crazy because I can't watch it till October.
