Insight Of Turtles Origin

Drome user Slash32 got a hold of a set of movie figures in advance, and apparently they include an insert that features upcoming movie toys- The boys as pre-mutated turtles, and young (mutant) kids as well. Based on this, it would seem the film will show us the turtles when they were younger, training with Splinter, maybe even playing together (as they seem to have skateboarding helmets). The dots of paint on the turtles' shell suggest that whoever owned the turtles marked them so as to tell them apart. Kids commonly do this, so perhaps they're petshop turtles from the get-go.

At any rate, here's a crop of the original photo-

At this time there is no picture of Mikey & Donny but I believe the 4 will all be made.

METALHEAD 06-05-2014 07:42 PM

holy ****. that means those turtles are not teenage, they're adult-man turtles!

Sabacooza 06-05-2014 07:43 PM

Wasn't there some rumor about them being humans first that mutate into turtles? Looks like this puts that to bed.

Not too sure about them being "adult-man turtles". Kind of makes the whole teenage thing in the title seem pointless. Not a big deal though, really. With so much that's wrong with this movie, what's one more nail in the coffin?

TheJ-manTurtleMan 06-05-2014 07:44 PM

That's interesting! So are they not going to be teenagers throughout the whole movie?

Xiewin 06-05-2014 07:45 PM

Very interesting find, i cant wait to see how this plays out in the movie. thanks for sharing with us

that was an april fools joke

so are these special editions or special box sets..i will admit if they make all 4 like this then these i may have to grab them for the tiny turtles

i wouldnt mind them being "adult" turtles and "teenage" in name only ive said it before and ill say it again aside from the current toon, the turtles have always acted more mature than your average teen

i mean usually they dont surface till 15 years after mutation, so mutant body wise they are teens

They're special 3-packs where you get each stage of life for the turtles. I wouldn't read too much into the teen aspect though, they probably just felt it sounded better than kid/child/pre-teen.

Candy Kappa 06-05-2014 07:51 PM

This is interesting, it would be nice to see some growing up moments for the turtles.

Agreed. This is one of the few things I am genuinely interested in. We've never had a childhood flashback in the films before. Would be really cool to see teachings from Splinter or how they chose their weapons or something to that effect.

DevilSpooky 06-05-2014 07:59 PM

About the Teen thing, like what I've said on the other thread: "It's like how the Gohan from Dragon Ball Z that fought Cell is called "Teen" in all media when he's only 9 years old at the time and the "Adult" one from The Buu arc is 16 years old. Don't think much of that little detail."

Jester 06-05-2014 08:00 PM

I can get behind a flash back scene...but the designs..man.

EDIT: Is Raphie wearing not-so-tightie whities?

Candy Kappa 06-05-2014 08:02 PM

At least "stage 1" looks good

TMNT is cooler than MOTU 06-05-2014 08:03 PM

Is Raph wearing galoshes and tighty whities?:teek:

I'm interested in seeing a flashback scene, but good lord, I thought their outfits couldn't get any worse. I guess I was wrong.

And so does this been they're Adult Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Wow! Cool find, We all have seen the Turtles as 5 year olds in the Cartoons before, But never in the movies, So this is great, That we will see them being trained by Splinter when they were kids.

MastahShredder 06-05-2014 08:06 PM

I like it. Showing them being young and bonding with Splinter will make you emotionally invested in the conflict between Shredder.

Yeah, the tighty whiteys is kind of funny/lame but maybe it'll translate well on screen.

Sighphi 06-05-2014 08:09 PM

These turtles sure love wearing clothing. They are even wearing shoes when they are kids.

I probably will get those instead of the big figures.

Edit- oh crap... i just read the stuff on the top right. Evolution packs... so they are going to make me get those big turtles. I guess im going to ebay the kids.

NinjaPug 06-05-2014 08:18 PM

Like the idea, hate the execution. They look just as bad as the fully grown Turtles.

Sewer Sirens Podcast 06-05-2014 08:23 PM

I've always loved the concept of younger turtles! Can't wait to see it played out in this film, even if Raph's playing underwear.

EDIT: Not sure how I wrote 'playing' down ... I meant wearing. Must of been AutoCorrect.

TigerClaw 06-05-2014 08:25 PM

I posted that image all over Twitter. :)

TurtleTitan97 06-05-2014 08:44 PM

So, they're not gonna be teenagers in this movie?

If that's the case, why call this movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Why couldn't they just stick to the original title? That's kinda like false advertising.

AquaParade 06-05-2014 08:48 PM

Love it!

Is Raph using undies for a belt/loincloth? If so, this film is brilliant.

If only you can fix the rotation.

samxsteal 06-05-2014 09:14 PM

They talked with a marine biologist turtles reach maturity much later so they are still teenagers

Hell ya!:D So for the first time in a movie we might see them at different ages training and playing as kids.. a more in depth back story possibly? Suddenly the chalk drawings kinda make sense. Damn I can't wait to see that!!!

Thanks for posting Powder

Sighphi 06-05-2014 09:22 PM

No evolution pack for Don? That's messed up.

So i guess the title for this flick should be...

In Their Twenties Hero Formula Hulk Turtles?

chrisdude 06-05-2014 09:26 PM

Aw, they're cute. I wanna see kid Mikey!

Adult turtles are cool to me.

MAYBE THEY HAD A REASON TO NAME IT 'NINJA TURTLES.'

It would also explain the young April casting on IMDB.

Meaning that the Turtles were probably her pets as a kid.

Thus making the universe they inhabit that much smaller and making it revolve around Megan O'Neil.

Yay.

Bry 06-05-2014 09:30 PM

Leo's two-toed Ugg boots are never gonna stop cracking me up.

TheJ-manTurtleMan 06-05-2014 09:33 PM

Man, Leonardo looks really depressed as a child.

And do these figures have pupils, While the other basic ones don't?

Yay.

Or, they could've just met as kids. Like the current cartoon.

Oh, snap. Didn't realize that. You mean teenagers like the toy packaging says?

Yeah, about that. They don't look like teens. They look more like little kids.

But hell, don't even half to base it off the toys. Here's young April.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5844090/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t16

Clearly not a teenager.

OMG, I've seen the girl. I've also seen the cartoon. My point was that they may just be doing something closer to what kids know, instead of hitting kids with adult reporter April, right off the bat.

Okay. But they clearly won't be teenagers, like in the current cartoon. Which is what you originally implied.

And my whole problem is that April Fox would meet them/know them BEFORE she meets/knows them as Mutant Ninja Turtles.

For example, if, in the current cartoon, the Turtles were April's pet Turtles instead of Yoshi's(or a random kid's). And then years and years later she meets them as the mutant ninja turtles.

It's just poor writing, trying to connect all the aspects of the universe together or to one character.
