Favorite TMNT Design 2.0
Decided to MAKE A NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION OF THIS THREAD
|
Still 2003. Give me short, buff turtles, or give me death!
|
As much as I loved the originals as a kid, nowadays gonna go with the lil' cuties on Nick.
(If anyone can ever give me my avatar as a real option... my answer will promptly change, with Nick Turtles remaining a close second as the Jr. version.) |
I like the 2003 designs the most.
|
Image turtles, still. Which aren't in the poll, still.
|
Can you really put IDW under one design. Surley with so many different artists giving their own take on the turtles it kinda seems daft to select IDW....
|
Like I said before...even with the added options I still pick 2k3.
Slick, cool and tough looking. |
2003 all the way, though I do like the 2014 movie designs somewhat as well.
|
The 2003 version is still my favorite, the Nick version is a close second.
I also like the "chibi" version from the nick.com game "Super Mini Puzzle Heroes", but that's based on the nick version. |
After I saw the new movie Turtles (which do not look that bad, but ............), I like the old movie Turtles best. However, such views vary with me from time to time.
|
2k12 turtles for me. The different heights are a big plus for me.
|
MIRAGE FOREVER.
Though, again - the 2003 and Nick designs are also basically perfect in their own rights, and the 1990 movie is still easily the best live-action look they've had. And all of them very smartly don't mess with a classic design. |
IDW. It was a tough choice though. I grew up with the 1990 film Turtles, and the nostalgia factor weighs heavy on me. I also love the look from the 2003 show as well as the new show on Nick, but the IDW Turtles just barely succeeds them all. They look classic yet modern, but also somewhat enhanced.

Now I think about, they are about equal with the Early Mirage Turtles designs. |
Here we go again.

I really like the Nick Turtles. They're all different skin colors, heights, body types. That's what helps differentiate them from each other, make them even more unique than their personalities. Not...other dumb stuff.
|
No Image comics, the Imagi movie or Soul's Winter.
|
I find this question tricky to answer because it relies on comparing cartoons with live action with CGI with comics. I love a few of them in equal measure (namely 2003, Nick, IDW and 2014 movie) but for different reasons. I plumped for the 2014 turtles in the end. Since getting a better look at those maquettes recently I am really digging their new look. Just hope they look as good on screen.
|
The IDW TMNT, mainly Dan Duncan, Kevin Eastman and the artist the worked on the Krang War arc. Second are the Nick's, third are the 2k3's and forth are the 2014 movie.
|
Definitely the 2014 versions for me.
|
It's really a tough choice for me but I think the way the standard 2k12 turtle figures look is probably my favourite. They're similar to the nick turtles but more stylised and somewhat grittier looking, almost like all the best aspects of each incarnation rolled into one. I love their proportions too, how they have the limbs that sort of get larger as they go down. Everything about them just looks great, though I do wonder why they look so different from how they do in the show.

Still have to go with the nick turtles in the absence of their out of the shadows realistic reimagining. I like seeing the turtles with different physical characteristics. The 1990 movie had that too but I like like tall slim donnie better than chubby donnie
|
I voted for the 4Kids Turtles, but then I realized that the Nick designs with the 4Kids art style would be da bomb. :tcool: I'd also have to agree with what alpaca witch said about the toys. My 11" Battle Shell Turtles look so badass.
Spoiler:
The proportions are perfect (accessories aside, of course). They're like a cross between parts from Mirage, 4Kids, Nick, and the first movie, and I love it. |

87 Season 1 Turtle designs. I liked the way their snouts where drawn.

Give the OotS designs a realistic render similar to the movie and THAT is your perfect CG live action Ninja Turtle. |
This one is a toughy. It's easier to say which turtle design I like least.
It's a toss up between the first live action movie...and the Nick versions. I'm going to have to give it to the Nick turtles. I love the drastic and subtle diversity. |
I'd have to say IDW since they can stay open to interpretation. Personally, David Peterson's art style is great for the turtles. Especially Splinter because, you know, the man is known for drawing rodents.
Too bad it isn't likely he'll ever do interior art for the Turtles. |
I chose the 2014 design.:D
I know there are MANY people who don´t like them, but after watching the new trailer I can´t stop looking at them. ( watched the trailer over 20times allready) |
Live action, the first movie. Animated, the 2K3 art style. I guess the first movie's my favorite overall. Whenever I draw them it comes out somewhere in between the two.
|
Mostly the comics drawings (Mirage, IMAGE, IDW etc.) but I really appreciate how detailed the 1990 Turtles looked. Those costumes were amazing!
|
It's a tie between the 2012 turtles and 2003 ones :D
Though the 90s flicks did them pretty good too. |

Nick. They look perfect.

Still coveting my avatar, Puddin?
http://www.awesomelyluvvie.com/wp-co...Mine-gulls.gif I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready to change mine so you can inherit its awesome. :) |
I chose the1987 design :tsmile::tcool::tmad:
|
I voted the 2K3 ones, though it was really a toss-up between that and the original movie versions. Both are beautiful and perfectly fit the characters, IMHO. Oddly, I also agree about the season 1 OT turtles. I'd love to see something that incorporates the best of all three.
