In Norway it's forbidden to mow your lawn on Sunday, penalty by being fined. But it's okay to do snow mowing during winter...

Here are some weird laws i found out existed in the state of Alabama!

-Bear wrestling matches are prohibited.

-Boogers may not be flicked into the wind.

-It is legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street if you have a lantern attached to the front of your automobile.

-You may not have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.

-It is illegal to sell peanuts in Lee County after sundown on Wednesday.

-It is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while operating a vehicle.

-Dominoes may not be played on Sunday.

-It is illegal to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church.

-Putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death.

There gotta be a great story about the fake mustache in church.

Not in my country, but I'd thought I'd share anyway

In Singapore, it's illegal to walk around your house naked.

Yea Haha, i could just imagine the police arresting someone for that.
But there are some Really ridiculous laws, like "In Alaska, it is illegal to view a moose from an airplane"

Candy Kappa 06-26-2014 04:04 AM

Norway also have closing times on alcohol. Where I live all sales of alcohol must close 20:00 on week days, 18:00 on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. And no alcohol stronger then 4,7% can be sold in stores (iirc) wine and liquor have to be sold in alcohol stores.

And you can't store alcoholic beverage next to any non-alcoholic beverage, cause apparently people are too dumb to see the difference. Even light beer can't stand next to regular beer.

We also have to keep tobacco out of sight in stores and we have to have a license to own a TV, which we have to pay for twice a year.

My question - Why do those laws exist?

Well, I guess the Blindfolded driver law Kinda makes sense?

I know there's a law in my county that says you can beat the sh*t out of your spouse if you're on the courthouse steps. Weird, but true.

- In New York, the punishment for jumping off a building is death.

- In Hawaii, All residents may be fined as a result of not owning a boat.

Colorado laws

+ One may not mutilate a rock in a state park. (Yeah. Cause someone has a vendetta against a rock. :trolleye: )

+ In Alamosa, Colorado: Throwing missles at cars is illegal. (How heavy are missiles? I imagine pretty heavy.) People may not urinate in public. (well public urination is gross so that makes sense)

+ In Denver, Colorado: It is unlawful to lend your vacuum cleaner to your next-door neighbor. (Pretty much, "Get your own darn Vacuum")

New Hampshire... Live Free or Die. :P

You may not tap your feet, nod your head, or in any way keep time to the music in a tavern, restaurant, or cafe.

It is illegal to pick seaweed up off of the beach.

On Sundays citizens may not relieve themselves while looking up.

White Mountain National Forest
If a person is caught raking the beaches, picking up litter, hauling away trash, building a bench for the park, or many other kind things without a permit, he/she may be fined $150 for ”maintaining the national forest without a permit”.

Any cattle that crosses state roads must be fitted with a device to gather its feces.

And... Lightning Rod Salesman MUST be licensed!

Ninjinister 06-26-2014 09:13 PM

Up until recently, it was apparently legal to boink animals in this state. It took some guy being killed by horse er... "weapon" to get it actually banned. I guess that's a weird law omission, though.

Harassing sasquatch is an offense which results in a fine. It's actually part of an act that protects "undiscovered species", so I guess this makes more sense in context.

Y'also can't shoot a buffalo from a window for some reason.

Church is serious business in this state damnit!

Seriously though....those are some old laws....and blue laws. The peanut one deffinitely is a blue law.

Its also illegal here (Alabama) to have a business open on Sunday unless you sell flowers.

Good thing they don't enforce those dumb laws.

Whatswiththeheadbands? 07-01-2014 04:09 AM

Apparently, it is illegal to eat oranges in your bathtub in California.

I don't get laws like that, I mean, is there just a really creepy guy looking in windows to see if people are walking around their house naked?

Maybe there's some Pants Inspector just going door to door to make sure everyone's fully clothed at all times. What if your bathroom is at the end of the hall, and you walk naked from the shower to your bedroom? Is that breaking the law? Do you have to wear a towel to get around it? I'm intrigued.

Shiro Kame 07-06-2014 06:49 PM

You're not allowed to own pepperspray or certain weapons like shurikens or take scissors with on a plane...even if it's children's scissors....

Candy Kappa 07-06-2014 06:55 PM

Hard Nunchaku is illegal unless you are an MA instructor, but sharp swords are free for all as long as you are older then 16.

Weren't Nunchucks banned altogether at one point?

Wingnut 07-11-2014 01:52 PM

There's a law in Kennesaw, GA requiring every household in the city limits to have a firearm and ammunition.

You can object on religious grounds, if you're poor, or just a conscientious objector in general. It's not actively enforced.

Still weird.

Slade 07-22-2014 08:17 PM

I don't member all, but I used to know a good bit of these. In Louisiana, missionary is the only legal position. Read one that said it is illegal to shoot someone in the back in Texas. Think Alabama you can't sleep on top of a refrigerator outside.

Does that mean it's legal to shoot from the 3rd Story?
