Should Hun be Casey's father in this show?
In the 4kids cartoon Hun's backstory was that he killed Casey's father and burned down their home after he refused to pay their protection racket from gangs. Casey and Hun were bitter rivals in the show.
In the IDW comic, we find out Casey's Dad actually *is* Hun, or rather was Hun 20 years ago. After being rejuvenated by Utrom ooze, he once again became Hun. Therefore Hun destroying Casey's Dad came true once again. In the Nick show Casey talked about protecting his family and a little sister. Should we find out that Hun is Casey's Dad in this show and is in a life of crime? **** Hun 4 Nick campaign **** I hope to god he appears in Season 3. Hun has become such a notable TMNT character he is: - The most recognizable and popular of all the 4kids created characters - Debuted in Mirage comics, which was previously taboo for a cartoon created character - Debuted in the IDW comics, allowing him to be in another series Hun has now appeared in 3 TMNT universes, its time for a fourth. |
The way things are in this show, I would not be surprised that the man and little girl from Slash and Destroy are Casey's dad and little sister. And it would explain why she wasn't so shocked to see a giant turtle in her room, probably because she has seen the drawings Casey made of Raphael in his room.

IMO I'm kinda not in the rush to see Hun in this series. Let him stay in the 2K3 series. I mean, leave something in there to make that series unique, you know?
Besides, with human villains turning into mutants several episode later... there really isn't room for him in this series unless he mutates later. Mutants sell toys. The only humans they have left (since we know Steranko and Anton will mutate) are the Purple Dragons, but they're just random cannonfodder and I doubt there will be any toys made out of them anyway. |
I don't see the need tbh. Casey can stand on his own.
And Shredder doesn't need Hun in this show, he already has Tiger Claw. Not to mention loads of henchmen: Xaver, Bradford, Baxter, Bebop and Rocksteady (?). What's more, Hun was not interesting in 2k3 imo. |
I kinda like the idea of Hun coming back and being Casey's dad ^_^ more story for Casey~

As cool as that would be, I don't think Hun will be Casey's dad since Casey wants to protect him and I think in IDW didn't Casey's dad abuse him? Yeah, I can't see Casey wanting to protect a guy who knocks him around. I'd rather Hun stay where he's at for now, but I would like to see Casey's dad and sister.
|
Well, they could do both in one. Have Hun like he is in IDW and for a mutation just have him take the mutagen and grow huge like he was in 2k3 with some serious strength. That way he would be an interesting looking character and still be just human and mutated all at the same time. Then we could have a serious leader for the Purple Dragons and I think it would rock to see the Dragons competing with Shredder instead of serving him with the Turtles caught in the middle. That would make Hun awesome and the story amazing.
|
Nah I don't think he should be.
I honestly wish that Steranko was Hun and that Hun got turned into Rocksteady. |
Hun would be cool to see, but I found him boring in 2k3.

What we really need is Shredder to mutate. Either out of desperation or accident. Into Super Shredder.

you can seriously count all the important humans in the show with your hands...and you'd still have extra fingers XD |

It would a good way to introduce Hun into this series for sure.
|
Have Shredder mutate in such a way that combines him with a Kraang. His appearance would become more alien looking, and he'd have a Kraang in his forehead...
|
I wouldn't mind Hun being on the show as long as he isn't another mutant or another one of Shredder's henchman. There's too many of both already.
|
I personally don't like Hun as a character at all so I hope he doesn't show up in this version.
|
What's with all this dislike of Hun? The character was critically acclaimed.
|
Yeah, I feel Hun should crop up sooner or later.

I don't care for Hun all that much either. If he shows, I'd rather him not be Casey's father. It was different in the IDW comic, but, I'm not a fan of it either. |
I like him in the IDW comic but didn't like him at all throughout the show until he was mutated for comedy value in the Forever film. That was the most interesting he had been since he appeared.
But for the purpose of the thread, I would be happy to see him appear as long as it was for a better purpose than to mutate him into Komodo or something random like that. |
Ugh, please no. We have enough of Nick deriving from other depictions in the TMNT franchise (particularly with the OT). It needs to create its own villains, characters, and plot twists; otherwise, it would be like viewing a blended version of the OT, 4Kids, etc. without any unique taste of its own.
As a few have stated, even if Hun is introduced in this show, it's getting too predictable and formulaic with this series that whenever there's a new human introduced, 90% of the time, he/she eventually gets mutated. |
The only time I found Hun to be his most entertaining was in Turtles Forever. Other than that, I've never cared much for him as a character.
|
I wouldn't mind Hun appearing in the show since there are hardly any 2003 villains. However, the real reason I want to see him appear is because he later appeared in an issue of the Tales of TMNT comic. I would love to see how Nick would handle an adaption of that issue. However, I wouldn't like the idea of him being Casey's father. It sounds too farfetch'd for me and it would be a drastic change for the sake of just changing.
|
Hun was okay in 03, but they went and mutated him into Slash in Turtles Forever anyway, what's the betting that Hun would last maybe two episodes here before being hit with mutagen?
|
If Shredder would die off, I think it'd be cool to see a take on Lord Dregg. For at least one season. And a H.A.V.O.C. type team. Or Bishop.
However, I think a new character would be the best route to go. And regarding Hun, I'd like to see him appear (since this show has hardly ANY 2003 influences), but I'm not sure Id want to have him as Casey's father. Spoiler:
|
I'm not so sure Hun should be Casey's father in the show. It works in the comics because it gives the character a few shades grey but the way it's presented in the comics might be a little too depressing for children.
It might actually be better to present him as a bit more well rounded version of the cartoon character. |
If Hun will be introduced to this series, based on the treatment of the other human characters, except Shredder (e.g. April, Karai, Irma, Casey), he will likely be some bully from Casey's school who's a few years older than him, or the kid of some mobster. (They wouldn't have the balls, to go with the father-killer Hun anyway)
I don't understand how adding Hun would take uniqueness away from 4Kids. It's like saying, the only difference between the two shows are the inclusion of Hun. |
