Turtles Redesign

Here is the original

here is an edit

so onto the topic at hand, what would you do differently to tweek the turtles

pihb 07-11-2014 09:00 AM

You're changes are so minimal....

the only thing i would change is some in the face and less clothes. In the end the new designs have grown on me the more i see them.

Shark_Blade 07-11-2014 09:15 AM

I barely see any changes..

Yeah I gotta go with the original design.

xChri5x 07-11-2014 09:21 AM

I'm so tired of this

you are not alone, but unless new footage releases daily, what more do we all have to talk about?

Whatswiththeheadbands? 07-11-2014 09:53 AM

What have you changed?

But... Leo's boots are one of the things I did like... :goof: (The hell, the first pic doesn't even have him in boots, I'm so confused... lol)

UGHShellshocked 07-11-2014 10:09 AM

Everyone has similar shoes, redesigned faces and Mikey is wearing Hawaiian shorts.

Say weren't you the one who saw a screener Allio? Was the Turtles that bad?

Allio didn't see a screening, it was just bull and the thread got deleted by a mod.
And these "re-designs"... particularly Mikey just look way worse, in my opinion.

We're of differing opinions there. I hate Leo's sneakers. They don't look like boots, they just look like sneakers, complete with mesh.

I was actually digging him in this pic then hated the shoes when I realized they're basically sneakers. I just don't like them wearing shoes more than them wearing anything else, me no likey the shoes!

How many pieces of TMNT fan art are out there?

How is this any different?

Just perfume on a pig.

As I said I'm confused now... are the figures movie accurate or not. I can't recall if we've seen enough of his feet in the trailers to even tell. (Although I'd like to know where'd they manage to get big enough footwear in the first place... clearly they don't carry a size for Raph. lol)

Really good point.

Could tone down the steroid use a little, otherwise I can deal body-wise; am fine with wearing stuff.

Neck up however... If I was on the design team... More beak-like, less ape-like in the nose area... convert semi-traditional beak into a tighter/sharper more realistic beak/nose...area... bit of an overbite to the beak/upper jaw and more ridged, doesn't flex too much (they're Turtles after all), thin lip and flexible on lower for better visual appearance of speaking, discreetly add small nostril slits appropriately placed rather than ape-like flared ones.

Maybe someday someone will do it...

id bring the heights down to like 5'6 or5'7 5'8 or 5'9 for donnie. Make them leaner in build and not as beefy looking, flatten out the snouts a little more and remove something like 15 to 20% for the stuff they have on.

They do. Just look at Andre the Giant and Paul Wight. It's just a real pain to get them ordered and shipped to a location they can get them picked up, so Raph gave up bothering. :D

LOL They probably just got stolen and pawned every time he told them where to drop them off. They really do need an April in their life in this one, at least for her mailing address. lol :)

I'd get a good laugh if the second/third movie, or the comics, did a gag of the turtles having a bunch of stuff delivered to April from Amazon since they don't have an address!

Leo656 07-11-2014 12:43 PM

I always kind of figured (mostly just based on impressions I got from the OT) that that's exactly what they did, just pick up their mail at her place. I mean, why wouldn't they? Seems pretty convenient to me.

It makes sense, yeah, but with the current comics and now the movie there's nothing established for that to be happening.

So think of it from this perspective: bunch of teenagers who have never been able to get things other than scavenging can suddenly order from the Internet. One of them having an eBay hobby....or habit. ;)

Honestly, eBay would be a way for them to make money too. Some of the stuff they've scavenged and Don fixing up would sell, I know!

I just think it makes a good comical opportunity that suddenly they can BUY THINGS and GET THEM DELIVERED!

I always thought they should be a little less samurai and a bit more ninja and have no qualms of taking money from thieves and criminals' pockets to fund their necessities.

Leo656 07-11-2014 12:53 PM

Actually them stealing money from people they beat up is the ONLY logical way to explain how they always have money for pizza, especially in versions of the story like the first film, where they've been getting it delivered long before they were "exposed".

lol I can see it now... "Dude! Did you see this?! I HAVE to own this!"
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O4t6vz3eKx...c/untitled.png

And eBay! Why didn't I think of eBay before, explains so much... lol

Also it's a good place for getting leather, I've bought a couple sizable rolls off it before, explains where the leather bits of gear comes from. ;)

TMNT is cooler than MOTU 07-11-2014 02:01 PM

The shoes for the turtles are so bizarre. Did they sew two shoes together to make one shoe?

Allio 07-11-2014 02:09 PM

I never said the changes had to be major, though I suppose naming the thread "Redesign" wasn't the best choice for the topic. maybe Design fixer-uppers.

It was just some rumors that was floating around at the time that I decided to post - I thought it would be more to say "Pre-screening" instead of rumors. The only real major thing that was confirmed from those rumors that indeed the turtles were test experiments. Though one of the rumors is still buzzing around that Splinter was watching kung-fu movies while still a rat (which I hope is total bull)

Candy Kappa 07-11-2014 03:01 PM

Playing along with the thread. Personally, I'd give the faces a few tweaks, but the way they look in the recent trailers, it isn't as bad as I feared seeing the earlier stuff, especially the lack of Raph's gorilla nose.

But, I'd overhaul their bodies, body build, size and fix the shell. Get rid of the costumes and do some personalized belts and wraps instead. Change some design chooses on Raph's Sai and find a better way for Don to defy physics then using a mechanical pogo stick.

thats what i thought. leo's specifically.

i think, i'd just scale down their sizes a bit and take off some of the stuff they're adorned with. it's funny, because i think their size actually lends itself to all the stuff they're wearing, but i feel that if they were smaller, it would just clutter them up (moreso than they already are, but like i said, its jibes with their sizes just fine, imo.)

other than that, i'd just re-do mikey's face. i honestly don't mind/am starting to like the other's faces, but mikey's is just too fat and puggish.

:ohwell:

I actually love that idea. Mikey scouring the bay of e for his comic books, Donnie selling stuff he's rebuilt... it'd be a great way of explaining how they do have the funds for stuff, and a nice little character touch as well.

I always thought of had my own headcanon along those lines, as I never could figure out how they paid for pizza either! Besides, they stole that van in the first couple of eps of the 2k3 series and turned it into their Turtle Van, so I just built upon that as a precedent!

Now that I've looked again I can tell in a couple shots that Leo's wearing the black sneakers. So either the figures are really not accurate in that regard or the guy makes a footwear change at some point... (Honestly I find the sneakers a little amusing on someone expected, and appears to, aim more for a "samurai" look. Street samurai...)
