Post 3 random facts about yourself

Thought this would be a fun little thread to swap info and in some cases, get to know one another better! So the deal is, you post 3 random facts about yourself that people on the board might not know about you (at least, of course, until you've posted it... then people will know it about you!) - they can be as funny or as serious, as trivial or personal as you want.

I'll kick off with:

1. Reading Jackie Collins novels is my guilty pleasure (I know, so trashy!), and I'm not even sorry. :P
2. My thumbs are double-jointed; I can actually bend them both backwards a full 90 degrees.
3. I used to pose as a model for art classes.

Your turn! :D

plastroncafe 07-14-2014 11:54 PM

1) I have three tattoos, only one of which was intentional. The other two are from the times I inadvertently stabbed myself with the sharp end of a pencil.

2) I'm trained to handle alligators.

3) My favorite book is "Good Omens," by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

pennydreadful 07-15-2014 12:06 AM

You're trained to handle alligators? That's awesome! How did you learn that particular skill?

Lethal Lullaby 07-15-2014 12:23 AM

Ooh this looks interesting
  1. I tend to make cat noises a lot. I'm not sure why I do though.
  2. Dark humor is my guilty pleasure.
  3. I love pretty much any red candy.

Netkeeper 07-15-2014 12:26 AM

  1. My fingers and thumb are hypermobile. For some reason people think it's gross? Always seemed normal to me, but it's a thing.
  2. I was born with acute light sensitivity in my eyes, but I don't experience the "red glare" or headaches associated with photophobia [the medical condition]. So that's a thing too.
  3. I've never broken a bone or had stitches or sprained/dislocated/anything okay I don't get hurt I am invincible also I never go outside

pennydreadful 07-15-2014 03:57 AM

Heh, Lethal - I do the same thing, sort of. Every time I walk into the same room as my partner, we start doing the "Meow MEOW!" from the Detective Mittens videos.

Net, my headcanon now is that you're a vampire. Light sensitivity, staying in your fortress, invulnerable to human injuries... it all makes sense! :P

Powder 07-15-2014 04:46 AM

1. I've done songs with many notable rappers & producers, such as Young Buck of G-unit fame, Canibus, Wu-tang Clan affiliates, & more.

2. Sometimes I think I'm invincible. I've had more near death experiences than I can count on 2 hands.

3. I can compose symphonic arrangements but I can't read sheet music nor play any of the instruments.

Fun little thread:

1. I have never gotten seriously injured or broken anything intentionally. (I did have two broken bones in my feet, but that was because of bunion surgery and the doctor had to do it.)

2. I'm blind in one eye. Many of you know this already, but it's still something that many wouldn't know about unless they asked me straight up or I told them.

3. I'm not a very social person and enjoy being by myself.

Volunteered at a zoo for three years. Along with gators, I also got the chance to 'pill' a bobcat. A whole lot of fun, I miss it.

Slade 07-15-2014 10:41 AM

1. I'm not allowed in my local Dairy Queen.

2. I love to draw

3. I have a lot of native american blood in me, but can't get a check :D

Lou 500 07-15-2014 02:43 PM

1. I have a birthmark on the inside of my eye
2. I have a tattoo on my right shoulderblade
3. I'm a hayfever sufferer.

Candy Kappa 07-15-2014 03:01 PM

My Scottish ancestor had a part in the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

I'm a happy owner of two Red-Eared Slider girls, a Yellow-bellied Slider boy and a girl.

I did a short running web comic based off me and my roomies that I lived with called Geek Floor.

Icebot 07-15-2014 04:20 PM

I've worked every consecutive Tuesday for 6 years in a row once.

I'm sensitive to loud noise and big crowds.

I'm afraid to drive.

MsMarvelDuckie 07-15-2014 06:24 PM

Ooh, fun thread! Here are mine:

1. I've never had a hangover. Ever. Which is odd, considering that I have been so drunk on several different occasions that I could barely stand, let alone walk! (And I'm no light-weight, either.)

2. My Bacon Number is 3. Yes, I have a (Kevin) Bacon Number. Thank you Mr. Duckie!! (His is 2!!)

3. My daughter is named for a Celtic goddess, but most people who hear her name think she is named for a Fleetwood Mac song. Can you guess which one?

Haha. Well a few years ago I went through the drive through and a kid(probably 18 or 19, I was 20) in there smarted off to me. Well, I got out of the car, went inside and shoved him into the cake cooler. Broke the glass. I was related to an employee at the time, so luckily all I got was a permant ban from being inside.

What's with all of the members being impossible to kill/difficult to injure here? Do we have a secret contingent of posters who were part of the Weapon X project?! :P

That sounds AWESOME! Though I hope that bobcat was a lot easier to pill than my housecats... I've even got one of those pill-popper thingies and I still end up picking soggy pill remnants out of my eye afterwards.

Also Discogod, I've gotta know how you came to be bitten by otters twice...

MrPliggins 07-16-2014 12:39 AM

1. I've moved 13 times in my life, so far.

- I've been inside the cargo area of a plane. I walk underneath planes docked at the airport all day. I've loaded cargo onto planes, operated machinery, and driven on the tarmac. Working at the airport is not as glamorous as it sounds.

- I won $400 worth of basketball tickets one day, and then sold them on NBAtickets.com because I don't go to basketball games. I'd rather the cash.

- I've seen Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragonball, in real life.

- I've worked 7 days a week on at least 3 different occassions.

arkangel 07-16-2014 02:01 AM

1) I shared a ferry ride to Vancouver Island with Robin Williams.

2) The last thing I ever won was an Atari game console and a Mork and Mindy board game at the local mall's Easter egg hunt when I was 9.

3) I sleep with a psychotic looking stuffed wolf named Rodney since my divorce. Fine...while I was married too.

Metroid 07-16-2014 02:28 AM

Ok here i go

1. I know how to build a car from the ground up

2. I will laugh at anything... it doesn't even have to be funny. In fact, the dumber it is, the more I'll laugh

3. All of my fingers/toes are double jointed, except for my Right Index Finger

- I've met 2 famous football players from my country before.

- I've been to the Millenium Dome in London.

- I've been interviewed by a couple of reporters from a big newspaper before. Didn't make the front cover or anything though.

tmnt transformer 07-16-2014 09:37 PM

1. I'm a sucker for collecting things.

2. I hate dumb art work.

3. I have very strange thoughts for being a guy...

Edit: 600th post!!!

Leo656 07-16-2014 09:37 PM

Hrm, tough one. I'll just pick 3 at random and come back with more later.

1. My sentimental favorite movie(s) of all time is Young Guns I and II. They really shouldn't be watched separately.

2. She's not the hottest chick I've ever seen, but I have a HUGE crush on Julia Louis-Dreyfus for some reason. She always catches my eye, and she's only gotten better with age. Doesn't hurt that I'm pretty hot for older chicks to start with. Chicks in general, really. But yeah, she's hot.

3. My tag team partner and I once got saved by Kevin Nash when we were getting beat down by Gene Snitsky.

There's a million other random factoids about me that nobody knows, those are just the first three that came to mind.

Electric 07-16-2014 09:48 PM

This is tough actually, first 3 I can think of

1. I love roller coasters, and ride them so much, it's probably not healthy. I go quite a bit to a couple parks in my state, but have gone to different roller coasters parks in atleast 6 different states in the US, and one in Canada, and am planning on going to more

2. I have 2 pet rats. Their both trained and are just as much a part of the family as my dog is

3. I'm a total Batman nerd. I've seen every batman related tv show, every movie, cartoon and live action, multiple times. I've played every batman video game there is, and the arkham series is my favorite game series of all time. I have read through every comic I can get my hands on, and the ones I can't, I google and read summaries of them

Leo656 07-16-2014 10:04 PM

I too enjoy Batman quite a bunch. Also, your post gave me an excuse to do 3 more.

1. Not counting Annuals, one-shots, and mini-series issues, I have every "mainstream" Superman comic released from 1986 (starting with "Man of Steel issue #1) through 2010. That's the main books - Superman, Action Comics, Adventures of Superman, Superman: Man of Steel, Superman/Batman, and Superman: Man Of Tomorrow - and by itself adds up to almost one thousand. Adding in the specials and mini-series and issues from the 60s/70s that I do have, and it's probably about 1500. That doesn't include "Superman Adventures" based on the cartoon show, or "Action Comics Weekly" from 1988 or so, when it briefly wasn't a Superman-centric book. My goal is to have a complete run from 1986 through the end of the "real" DCU in 2011. Stuff from the 70s and before is getting harder and harder to find, so I don't obsess over collecting Silver Age stuff. I have some, but it's not my main focus.

2. Between my wife and I, we have about 700 DVDs.

3. I got my first tattoo when I was 15.

Leo, I want to see your Superman collection. Have no idea how many I have, can't be close to that since I'd have nowhere to put it all.

Oh, and guess I'll do 3 more:

1. My son is named Alexander after Alexander the Great, and Lex Luthor.

2. I love Assassin's Creed, like a lot.

3. My initials are KLM (sing your ABC's)

Have you ever looked at my signature spoiler image? If you have, you have only cracked open the door to my mind.... I REALLY LIKE SOME FANFICS OF THE STORY AFTER SOME ZELDA GAMES(gosh that was hard to admit)... Escpecally this onehttp://ask-sky-family.tumblr.com/(read the stories) I really like afterstories like that...

Candy Kappa 07-17-2014 01:46 AM

Round 2?

1. Not only am I related to rebels and "traitors", I'm also related to one of Norway's richest salve traders from the Norway-Denmark union slave trade period, she is also one of the richest women to live in Norway. Her wealth was spent by her son or grandson (don't quite recall who) by drinking it all up on alcohol.

2. The first time I was introduced to Dungeons and Dragons was the year Gary Gygax died, so 4th edition was my first edition, and. After playing AD&D 2nd edition, read D&DO, AD&D 1st edition, 3.5 and play tested Next since the first play package. I do find a lot of people's complaints about 4th edition completely silly.

3. I am a ginger, so I have no soul and my skin easily burn to crisp.

Leo656 07-17-2014 02:45 AM

That's JUST my Superman collection, though... which is large but less than half of my TOTAL comic collection. Next largest chunk would probably be Batman, then TMNT, then Sonic, then "Misc." of all different DC stuff. Altogether, it's somewhere between 8 and 10 thousand books. Most of it's been in storage for a couple years but I have it all catalogued, I just haven't bothered to count them all in a while, plus I inherited my Dad's collection when he died and I haven't counted those yet. It's a couple hundred books, though, mostly 80s and 90s Spider-Man (Yay! :)) and Spawn (Um... yay.).

I'll do a few more:

1. I was AIM chat buddies with two Olympic gymnasts back in 2003 or so, Dominique Moceanu (1996 team) and Jamie Dantzscher (2000 team). We'd also send each other real letters and gifts and stuff. I really miss that. I still have it all in a box. We fell out of touch during one of the times I had no internet for a couple years. :ohwell: Dom and I re-connected on Facebook the last couple years, but it's not exactly the same. Although when I went to her book signing a couple years ago, when she saw me she exclaimed "Hey! Rikki Roxx!" and gave me a big hug. That was awesome.

2. My mother used to give me Lauenbrau beer as a baby to keep me quiet. This has been verified by several family members. It definitely explains why I already had a taste for beer at age 5.

3. I'm terrific at impressions. I can do pretty much anyone if I hear them talk for a couple minutes.

BubblyShell22 07-17-2014 08:52 AM

1. I'm an avid reader and have been since I first learned how to read.

2. I learned some French from watching the Canadian version of Sesame Street. I can count to twelve in French, know the words for "moon" "hello" "goodbye" and "Good night." When I was little, Dad and I would say good night to each other in French. I told him about that one day, and he said he remembered that, so one night before bed, he said good night to me in French, and I said it back. Ah, memories.

3. My sis, bro, and I used to record ourselves on our old tape recorder. We would sing songs and we even made up a song of our own once. I even remember us singing the original TMNT theme song together.

Lethal Lullaby 07-17-2014 09:14 AM

Well since some of us are adding a few more facts I'll add some as well.
  1. Apparently when I was 2 (mom told me this) I took a paper clip that was opened and stuck it's in my right ear, so it's kinda sensitive. It hurts when a fly buzzes by it or when I hear a low vibrating noise (not sure how to describe it)
  2. I also learned some French, and I think I can easily learn German and Italian. Like I can recognize what some German/Italian phrases mean in English.
  3. I can play tetris for hours. The game is just so addicting to me.

Prowler 07-17-2014 11:49 AM

- I've been to the Sahara desert.

- My skin can't handle the sun. I get sunburned very easily. Good thing I never go to the beach.

- I can eat a lot and not gain a single kilo.
