Reading these threads is depressing me right now...
...which is unfortunate because I enjoyed the f**k out of this movie. And that's coming from someone who also watched "Guardian of the Galaxy" less than 12 hours before the Turtles.
So, carry on guys. I won't be back here for a while. TURTLE POWER! |
You liked a movie that some people don't like. That's all there is to it. You need to rethink things if differing opinions are leaving you depressed.
|
It Is Really Up setting The Amount of Pressure Put on people Is ridiculous Heck alot of it is from people who haven't even seen the movie against people who have.
But that Just how these Forum Work You know. |

I loved the movie and half the comments I've been reading are from people who DIDN'T watch the movie...but are being spurned by others who have and didn't like it as much as I did. These same people are like "Yeah, yeah, see? I KNEW it was sh**ty! Glad I didn't waste MY ten bucks." |
People will have differing opinions. And this is the internet, so those differing opinions will be especially aggressive.
As someone that objects to the movie and despises it, I'd just like to tell you to not let opinions like mine get to you. I don't let opinions I disagree with upset me. We're not out to make YOU upset personally for liking the movie. If you like it, that's legitimately great and on some level I envy you for that. |

Yeah, I honestly haven't gone to see it -- I've just spent a lot of time lurking. After all, my post used the specific phrase "I object to the movie" for that reason -- I do object to it, but that doesn't mean I won't see it eventually anyway.

What I find funny is that a lot of people actively watch the Nickelodeon children's cartoon then attack the movie for being unrealistic and cartoonish. How are some able to enjoy children's programming yet tear the new movie apart?

Why be depressed bout what others think? I thought it's a fun movie. That's all that matters
|
The cartoon is marketed towards children. We expect childishness.
The movie is rated PG-13. |

Better direction and writing? Its a kids cartoon made to sell toys... |

Just because something's made for children doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by adults, or that it can't be written well from objective storytelling standards. Not all children's stories are created equal. Besides, even movies for kids should be well-written. There's no excuses there. |

You're right, though. Their demographic is everybody, kids and adults alike, cartoon-watching or not. And they've managed to appeal to them all very well with a quality product they can all enjoy. And they do that by taking care to write and produce them really really well. |

Too much to ask for the folks involved in this production. |

It's kind of all bumming me out too. I don't like the Nick cartoon at all--in fact I'd say it's very sloppily written with little care for its ongoing plots. It does seem weird to me that everyone loves it and not the movie. I haven't seen the movie yet though so we'll see.
|
Actually, I think people are responding pretty well. Sure there's a lot of people who don't like it and a lot who do....but there aren't a ton of flame posts raging against it for unreasonable things.
I've mostly just seen people argue their points to each other rather calmly. How is that depressing? |
This message board is depressing me . The whole lot of you is way too oversensitive and overemotional to have any real discussion. Feel like I'd like to leave.

Just ignore the haters and carry on loving what you love. |
Seriously if I hear one more person say that I'm expecting too much from a movie with 4 talking turtles I'm going to lose my mind. Do you really like TMNT? Because honestly, dismissing the turtles like that makes me think that you don't care what they do with them. You should look back at all the incredible art, stories, etc. that has been done with them.
|
And the point of this thread is...?
Why do ppl insist on starting a whole new thread to express one damn thought that easily fits into already existing threads? While I agree with the OP that this place has become a bit depressing with all the fighting, if you really wanted to step back from it all, there wasn't a need to draw so much attention to yourself as you walked away. |

Ha! I've seen it three times already and loving it! :tlove:
|
Hearing all the mixed reviews, I still wondering if I'll enjoy this movie or not. It's pretty much the same problems I had with GOTG, but then again I really love the nick show for the turtles, because I find the plots on the show poorly written.
|
i'm hopefully seeing it today and i'm proooobably going to have big issues with it based on the early responses... i'm not pre-judging it but, i am usually right about this feeling.
my biggest fear? that i end up strongly disliking the film and yet it makes TONS of money (so lots of 'bad' sequels) |
I don't care if other people don't like the movie. I know some of my friends will hate it too but I enjoyed the hell out of it and so did my friend that I went with and in the end that's all that really matters.
