Positivity Thread

I dunno if it's just me or if I'm too optimistic or whatever, but I have been seeing a lot of negativity around here in terms of well, everything. It's not exclusive to this forum just everywhere.
I feel like every once in a while a dose of positivity is needed to help the urge of becoming a negative nancy or a cynical jerk. Or more importantly, becoming a terribly unhappy person that merely focuses on the negative and is unable to find happiness in much of anything.
Everyone has had a time in their life when they just needed something positive to look forward to during a difficult or hard time. Music, meditation and prayer helped me out a lot during an extremely tough breakup a few years back and during my "Everything sucks I just wanna punch everything phase" when I was 15.
Now please no religion, or belief bashing, we're all adults here (most of us anyway:P) so have at it.
What is something, or some things that help you be a stay and or be positive?
anyway here's a ridiculous video that at the very least makes me laugh when I've had a long day.

There you go.

It's not too hard for me to stay positive and optimistic. Just play some gamez and I'm good. Even if the game sucks it's like "Well, at least I can appreciate so and so even more".

Leo656 09-17-2014 09:57 PM

Being in the gym makes me feel positive. No matter how lousy a day I'm having otherwise, that all stops at the door. I just seriously feed off of other people's hard work and energy.

Video games and loud music helps, too. Those are great things.

snake 09-17-2014 10:22 PM

I'm pretty positive. I pretty much surround myself with things that make me happy (Books, Star Wars stuff, games, ect.)

The fact that this was the first response.

I've already seen both of these a million times and they still manage to make me laugh more than anything. "What are you, GAY?" "Yeh. :)"

Here's another:

That was the video the topic creator tried to post but embedded it incorrectly so I did it for him.

Ah. Still hilarious, though.

Haha. My BF had showed me that video. XD I enjoy the Oney Cartoons.
Listening to Vocaloid keeps me happy. (Especially the Synchronicity Story.)

:tanime: And also hanging around those I love. That, too, makes me happy.

Thanks for that. I'm liking the variety of responses. The epitome of different strokes for different folks.

Talking to one of my brothers or my mother helps me out a lot. I also have a collection of images on my desktop that exist just to make me laugh. I'll post a few, though I rotate them every once in a while:

Talking to my sisters helps me think positively.

I also learn a lot on positive thinking in the old toon TMNT episode Doomquest. One of the turtles is told to learn positive thinking and that helps teach me not to let bad events get the better of me.

XERO 09-18-2014 11:31 AM

Listening to music, making music, great friends, WWE, videogames, and just trying to help others when I can motivate me the most.

I've learn over the years to not take the small things for granted, either. I can find happiness in almost essentially anything.

Heck, bubble wrap is an universal example.

DarkFell 09-18-2014 01:13 PM

The usual videogames, music, and hanging with good friends combo also works well for me. And like leo656's comment, being around positive people that want to do their best and put their own creative energies to work is also tops for me because it also allows me to fine tune myself to do some cool work. Pets are also good to have around.

BubblyShell22 09-18-2014 01:55 PM

Reading a good book, listening to music, watching my favorite TV shows, writing fan fiction, and talking with fellow TMNT fans are ways I do my best to stay positive. I'm not negative all of the time for sure, though I think we all get in ruts at the best of times.

blindturtle02 09-18-2014 03:52 PM

I love reading. That helps. Videogames do too as well as going through the dvd/video on demand library I've accumulated over the years. Quality time with family also helps. I'm usually positive though.

Machias Banshee 09-18-2014 10:22 PM

Pandaderek, shuriken and Netkeeper, none of that here. Seriously. Everything does not have to devolve into sex discussions.

Let's keep this thread clean.

XERO 09-18-2014 10:43 PM

That's gotta be a record.

Still... that bubble wrap, though. Good times.

I have fun with that stuff every now and then too. Still have to go with ceramic clay though; you can really make all sorts of cool with ceramic clay. Heck any other clay will also work if you don't over bake it or let it dry out -not unless you're though building up your form-.

BubblyShell22 09-19-2014 07:51 AM

Chocolate helps me stay positive too.

woops. :ohwell:
Sometimes I like to see how my life would be if it were not for certain people. When I've had a rough day it would just reaffirm that aside from some things my life is pretty good, especially for the people in my life that care about me. It's a nice feeling.

Give me chocolate combined with cream cheese and I'm flying.

BubblyShell22 09-20-2014 10:03 AM

Never had chocolate with cream cheese unless you're talking about cheesecake. I have had one of those before.

XERO 09-20-2014 11:11 AM

You haven't experienced true happiness unless you've had Oreos Reese's flavored.

shuriken 09-22-2014 05:31 PM

That sounds delicious actually. Anybody ever try Doritos (Nacho cheese) with Ice cream? I use either Breyer's or Dean's but I suppose anything will work.
It's surprisingly good, the saltiness mixed with the sweet creaminess is weird, but it works.

Lethal Lullaby 09-22-2014 10:59 PM

Comedians keep me happy. Ones such as Kevin Hart, Daniel Tosh, Jeff Dunham, Brian Regan, Dane Cook, and Key and Peele. Of course they're the only ones I know of so far. Hehe.

Oh and cat gifs. hehe here's some I really enjoy. (I put these in spoiler tags so y'all don't have to scroll down much or whatnot. Depending on if you look at 'em or not. ^//-//^ hehe)

BubblyShell22 09-23-2014 08:34 AM

Those gifs are cute, LL. Thanks for sharing. And, yeah, sometimes comedians can help you forget your troubles.

Jephael 10-06-2014 07:01 PM

Playing with my nephew makes me happy. He's only 4 and already loved video games.

I love spending time with my little cousin. He's 9, kids can be great fun.

I saw your post in the other thread - I know it can be very frustrating when you're trying to debate in a civil manner yet the other person keeps screaming and getting angry. Your sister sounds highly-strung.

PangolinFeets 10-06-2014 09:23 PM

Anything with big monsters, making costumes, Final Fantasy 9, Link's Awakening, eating cheesecake, and watching Treasure Planet or The Land Before Time.
Those are things that are super uplifting for me. I get a total high. :) I like this thread. Let's keep it happy.

I almost forgot my furbabies: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps7be5c49b.jpg

I'm the same with white chocolate. There's a white chocolate raspberry truffle swirl ice cream flavor from Hagendaaz that is a guaranteed good night.

BubblyShell22 10-07-2014 08:01 AM

That's awesome. I love regular chocolate and dark chocolate the best.

Candy Kappa 10-07-2014 08:08 AM

dang, now I want some chocolate...

blindturtle02 10-07-2014 01:31 PM

Rob Paulsen's podcasts always cheer me up. That guy's often hilarious. Seems like a great person both on and off the mic. I get the sense that most vas are like that.

BubblyShell22 10-07-2014 05:20 PM

Yeah, I agree that a lot of VAs are probably pretty awesome people for sure. Watching TMNT and waiting for the next episode always cheers me up too.

I've been working out and doing weight lifting for a fitness challenge for the past month, and I have so far lost 5% of my total body fat. :tparty:

I'm getting back into clothes I haven't been in for ages. THAT makes me happy...

That's awesome, Machi. Good for you.

pandaderek 10-29-2014 01:00 PM

I brought life back to my old shoes, for practice. I'm learning to do this as a side-hobby to make some extra disposable cash for my other hobbies. I got a few clients that want me to customize their new shoes.

Machi: Radical. Now cap it off with some yoga and you're all set. :)

I'm trying to start a petition to make yoga mandatory by U.S. law. but I don't think the administration cares. Figures.
