Would You Consider Kraang Prime Female?

Since Kraang Prime is voiced by Roseanne. Of course I know the VA of a cartoon character is sometimes irrelavant(i.e. Bart Simpson), but, anyway if KP is female wouldn't that make her/him/it an extremely powerful entity, considering she/he/it rules and entire dimension? Again I'm not entirely serious the thought just popped into my head.

Luckyday 10-08-2014 09:59 AM

It would just make them more like a insect colony. I would end up wondering more about their biology and maybe gender roles.

IndigoErth 10-08-2014 10:48 AM

I've only ever read it mentioned as male, and the Turtlepedia site lists it as male (although I can't say I have any clue where they get their info from), but personally I can't not hear Rosanne so I kind of automatically view it as female.

Not quite sure I want to know how all that works where the Kraang are concerned. "I feel scared."

MaximeLoonatic 10-08-2014 11:10 AM

Kraang Prime it's a dude?!
And I thought that it was like the queen be of the Kraang...

Coola Yagami 10-08-2014 11:19 AM

This thread needs to be locked... Before cybercubed posts and brings on the shitstorm.

But for the record I think she's female. They have the hive mind goin on and KP is the queen bee.

travelingcat 10-08-2014 11:21 AM

People think it's female? KP struck me as male. Though it would make a bit of sense since the Kraang have a hivemind thinking.

evan2000 10-08-2014 11:30 AM

I assumed all Kraangs are genderless. Heck, we don't even know how they reproduce. Do they lay eggs, or they just split-multiply like an amoeba? :teek:

Luckyday 10-08-2014 11:37 AM

I like to think that they reproduce in a similar manner à la Ridley Scott's Alien.

Yea, if the physics of their dimension are that different from ours I can only imagine their biology is too. They appear to be gastropod-y, yet they have bones. *shrug*

Mellie 10-08-2014 12:06 PM

I don't really think of gender when it comes to the Krang.

I thought they are closer to squids, with tentacles and all, although squids do have gender and do lay eggs.

That's why I said they should be genderless. And if the mutagen-infected Squirrelanoids are any indication, creatures from Dimension-X probably multiply by splitting.

And then there's the Kraathatrogons who feed "milk" (mutagen actually) to their young, like mammals do. I give up :tanime:

Metalhead 2.0 10-08-2014 12:24 PM

kraangs ain't got wangs.

ShelleyQuick 10-08-2014 12:40 PM

 some of these responses had me chuckling out loud at work, I'm glad people took it as light hearted as it was intended. :)

IndigoErth 10-08-2014 12:45 PM

Maybe that's what this whole mutation thing is about... they're just jealous of earth creatures.:tlol:

Look, slug people. The new in-show cartoon that attacked the slug people in the first episode is a euphemism for ending mutagen addiction.

ObiWanFan4life 10-08-2014 01:11 PM

It's a question best left unanswered. :teek:

pannoni1 10-08-2014 01:17 PM

Since it is unknown based on what we know so far, I assume that the Kraang Prime are genderless. The regular Kraang don't have a specific clue as to what they are since all are. I wasn't sure if the original Krang from the OT was male or female until many years later. My opinion leans toward the amoeba theory despite the assumption of being all-male.

BubblyShell22 10-08-2014 01:21 PM

I remember watching a behind the scenes clip on Nickelodeon where two kids were with Ciro talking about what was going to happen on TMNT before the finale aired. Ciro showed them Kraang Prime and confirmed that KP was male, so that's how I've always taken it. Though I do agree that it's hard not to hear Roseanne and automatically assume it's a female.

CyberCubed 10-08-2014 01:32 PM

Ciro already confirmed Kraang Prime was male. I'm baffled this is even being discussed. Anyone who thought Kraang Prime was female was out of their minds.

..........................

BubblyShell22 10-08-2014 01:43 PM

And here we go. No, we weren't out of our minds because I thought it was stated somewhere at first that KP would be a queen bee type of leader, so we assumed that she was going to be female. We know now KP is male, but to imply that we're all out of our minds for thinking differently is dumb on your part. Oh, wait, I forget who I'm talking to.

evan2000 10-08-2014 01:55 PM

I wouldn't consider anything as "confirmed" unless it is specifically mentioned in the show itself. Not even if Ciro said it. I mean, he did say that the leaked storyboards were NOT TRUE, no?

As for the question if Kraang Prime is male or female, it could be neither (or both, like snails) - ie. genderless. The same could also be true for Krang in the OT, as I don't recall any episodes ever mentioning Krang's gender.

Candy Kappa 10-08-2014 01:58 PM

For all we know the Kraang could be sexless, more then two sex or hermaphrodites. They might not even have a concept of gender until they where exposed to human society.

IndigoErth 10-08-2014 01:58 PM

Life in it's entirety is baffling, isn't it...

Since when is any aspect of the franchise not open for discussion. And why would it be so preposterous that anyone who's unsure might ask and lean toward assuming it's female because it in fact sounds like Roseanne Barr, who sounds like a woman, rough as her voice may be.

More baffling Turtles discussions have certainly been had. (Like nostrils... but that's for another forum.)

I think you've pin-pointed the question we should really be asking: Is Roseanne Barr actually female?

Do we have any brave volunteers to find out the answer to that question?

Ciro refered to Kraang Prime as a, "he" when the kids were asking him about it before the Season 1 finale aired.

Since Kraang Prime is essentially Krang from the OT reimagined, it would make sense he was male.

As I said, even Krang's gender in the OT is questionable, as it was never mentioned in the show itself (not that I remember). It could well be genderless as well.

Referring someone with unknown gender as a "he" is very common too. Even within this forum itself, many times we referred each other as "he" although the forum member could be either gender. So take it with a grain of salt, I don't think Ciro really "confirm" anything.

Coola Yagami 10-08-2014 04:20 PM

Plus kraang prime is not it krang reimagined. It's an all new character. We've been through this already.

Krang was male in the OT. Krang's refered to as "he" and "him" several times by other characters.

I know you're saying this just because I'm in this thread, but you know good and well Kraang Prime is intended to be Krang. That's why its the leader and that's why it has an android body that resembles the original, lived in the Technodrome, has stone warriors in Dimension X, and was making deals with Shredder.

He's a little different because EVERY old character who has returned was changed in Nick. Just like Bebop and Rocksteady aren't street punks anymore, Traag can't talk, Rat King was Falco, and Rahzar is now Dogpound.

Metalhead 2.0 10-08-2014 04:26 PM

Are we REALLY questioning whether or not a cartoon alien brain with tentacles has a penis?
Is it relevant to the story in any way or are some of you just trying to justify the thoughts you've been having?

THGhost 10-08-2014 04:49 PM

KP sounds female to me cos, y'know, they're voiced by Roseanne Barr. :P

As for KP being a re-imagined Krang, I really can't see it.

IndigoErth 10-08-2014 05:32 PM

Unisex species with multipurpose tentacles. That is all.

He's probably saying it because a former writer on the show said Kraang Prime isn't the Nick version of Krang.

He'd say that about any character though, because all the characters are so different than the past they're basically the same in name-only.

If Rahzar was named, "Wolf-man" I doubt anyone would have made the connection.

Coola Yagami 10-08-2014 06:00 PM

I'm just not seeing it. The character is just too different. Plus krang never led an army of his own race in other versions. And krang never had a second in command sub prime either.

IndigoErth 10-08-2014 06:04 PM

Kraang, we need more Kraang to further invasion of Kraang. Kraang is instructed to make sweet Kraang to Kraang to take over Earth for Kraang.

I'll... uh, just see myself out..

FWIW, I'm of the opinion that you can be male without having a penis. They're aliens, I don't really imagine that they have a strict gender binary like most of the humanoids on Earth. ;)

Since I don't watch the Nick TMNT religiously, I have no real theory concerning Kraang Prime. However, I did read a few decent theories in this thread.

blindturtle02 10-08-2014 09:42 PM

I can't stop thinking of KP as female but that's because Rosanne is voicing the character. Does anyone know if they've addressed this in the show? I do remember Leo in the season one finale saying,"I can't hold it back any longer!" So Idk. Choose one or both, I guess.
