Renet

So Renet is coming to Nick TMNT

I know she's a time traveler...but I don't know much else about Renet...so I have 2 questions

1) What was Renet like before in other incarnations (her story...her personality)
2) What do you think Renet will be like now?

Didn't you say you watched the 4kids series? She's in several episodes there that are directly based on the Mirage comics.

snake 10-15-2014 07:44 PM

I think she'll be pretty cool. Eh about her being Mikey's love interest.

totally missed those episodes XD or completely forgot....I guess she wasn't that memorable to me.....(I was only 10-11)

TurtleTitan97 10-15-2014 07:56 PM

The best way I can describe Renet is that she's kind of a bubbly airhead in past versions. It's hard to say how she'll be written in this show, but I look forward to the scenes with her and Mikey.

This is how I feel. I love Renet but I hate that she is being brought in as a love interest for Mikey.

I'll be shock if they don't make any changes to Renet, seeing how they do with most characters they bring in this show.

I looked up some comic pages on google...she does seem like an airhead with big boobs...:ohwell:

I don't wanna make any conclusions or be harsh...but she seems like a bimbo....(maybe I should look up more on her XD...I'm sure she's cool...)

travelingcat 10-15-2014 08:06 PM

2K3 Renet was so boring and useless. Valley girl airhead who plays into villians hands and sets off time travel shenanigans just to get out of dusting. Couldn't get the time scepter to work right and often damsel in distress. 'Like, oops?' 'I don't know what happened.'

Reeeeaaaaally hoping Nick gives her a lot more. Mikey's crush with her doesn't sound that bad. Might actually be really cute and make her likeable.

IndigoErth 10-15-2014 08:26 PM

Repeating myself, but hope they do a cooler version of her, found her in the 2003 series (my only knowledge of her) to be kind of annoying. Girl, seriously, just leave those poor Turtles alone and go do the chores you were given...

JonesyKitty 10-15-2014 08:53 PM

You know I may be one of the few that really loves the character, I loved the Mirage version and the 2k3 wasn't too bad. The idw look is pretty cute in the Turtles in Time arc as well. What really excited me the most when I heard that she's gonna be in the Nick series is that we may finally get a figure of her!:tgrin: and personally I think the Mikey crush will be adorable...hopefully haha

PangolinFeets 10-15-2014 09:00 PM

I only know her from Mirage and the new TiT comic. While she's written to be kind of annoying, she's also really cute and bubbly. To me, she is just as silly as Mikey so them together seems kinda perfect.
However, while I think the pairing is a cute idea, I'm not a fan of the show saying, 'Here's Mikey's girlfriend!' Instead of, 'We're bringing back Renet!'

Ugh, she was an annoying dipstick in the 4kids show. This is one character I hope Nick makes considerably different, in a good way. So far though, when Nick TMNT has brought in females characters, they've never been airheads, yet. I hope they don't break that streak with this one.

XD....that sounds bad...but I think Nick will do okay with her.
but I'm going in with low expectations...

Same here. If there was ever going to be a love interest for Mikey, I'm still a big fan of Mikey and the Neutrino Kala.

I just hope she won't be as empty as April. I want understand her motivations, her inner conflicts and her desires. Let Renet be rememberable for who she is and not let her be defined alone by whom she's with.

I hope she doesn't last one episode ...but I feel like she will....

I just want permanent girls on the show...

And as I've asked many times before, why? Why is it so pertinent that there be more female characters or a perm female character?

I guess for me, I just don't care one way or the other. I'm more into the Turtles themselves than most of the human characters that pop up...'cept tea time girl.

Yeah but making sets is a budget issue with this show. At the very least, we can get a two parter episode or maybe a bottle episode like Girl in the Fire place from doctor who.

Why is it when people want more girls on the show, it bugs you so much? I personally like it when there are girls on the show, because when the Turtles are interacting with them, it's quite entertaining! April, Karai and tea time girl, all three had some very entertaining moments with one if not all of the Turtles. I hope Casey's sister ends up being someone later on, and then I hope to see Mona Lisa, Kala, and maybe even Radical to spice things up! Not all of the time, but maybe 2 episodes a season.

It doesn't. I'm just genuinely curious as it comes across sometimes as, "Girls are better than boys!" "Nu-uh! Boys are better than girls!" It reminds me of a four-year-old me arguing with my older male cousin over which was better, "She-ra or He-man", which is a bit childish. Maybe if it didn't come across as some kind of important aspect by those who bring it up, I wouldn't question it.

Like I said, for me, I don't care one way or the other. I focus on character, not the gender of said character, so for me, this concept of finding it important to have more male characters or more female characters in a show is foreign to me.

But, you're not coming across as, "WE MUST HAVE FEMALE CHARACTERS!" like some others have.

If they use a female character, "yay". If they don't, "No skin off my nose". I just don't care, but I do agree with the the amusement of seeing the turtles interact with female characters. It is entertaining and amusing. Personally, I'd like to see them interact with kids or as an onrunning gag, always have Leo having to deal with a kid.

Coola Yagami 10-15-2014 09:53 PM

Honestly, Radical would be an interesting addition and would be the first Mirage character that 4Kids didn't get their hands on.

As for Renet.... she's a time traveler. And an airhead. That's really all there is to her. Not really expecting her to have more to her, except the Mikey crush which I hope is two-sided. Especially since her being a time traveler is the biggest part of her character. And as a time traveler.... she is not gonna be a permament character. She kinda can't be in more than an ep or two without accidentaly turning the show into TMNT Fast Foward II.

cause I want more girls...I like to see girls represented. :ohwell:

If the show had no girls I don't think I would watch it....It'd feel like something was missing.

Luckyday 10-15-2014 10:03 PM

I'm curious to see what Kiba will be like when we see her again. Will she still be the well defined character that she was as Karai? God, I hope so. http://www.narutoforums.com/images/s...eries3/ano.gif

PangolinFeets 10-15-2014 10:04 PM

I forgot how damn cute she is in TiT. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps9e6be57f.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps9ea49581.jpg

She's so cuuuute!

Also, I like female characters because I enjoy seeing a nice distribution of gender representation and diversity. I also like seeing different races, species, cultures and orientations.

IndigoErth 10-15-2014 10:06 PM

More girls is always a plus. Do I feel I need more on it? No, not necessarily, and likewise the Turtles are my faves, I've never cared nearly as much for the human characters.

More-so I just love to see the Turtles slowly gaining a list of friends and allies, though it only makes sense that on planet Earth a realistic portion are going to be female.

I do really hope they permanently fill the adult female character void however. Not necessarily present all the time, but there off and on. Good presense for all those motherless(?) teens and another adult for Splinter to interact with for once.

A permanent, sometimes there, gal pal for April would also be nice, one who isn't going to go turn into a robot or get mutated. (Shame she and Karai never got to be actual friends. So far.) If they made Mona Lisa around the same age that could be a fun friendship to see happen.

I have no prob with this either as you're not coming across as, "THERE MUST BE FEMALES IN THE SHOW OR I WON'T WATCH IT!"

That sums up my feelings on it, for the most part.

That's RENET!? She's ADORABLE!!! *_*.....kinda wish the Nick crew made her look like this instead of giving her that horrendous headgear....I mean just why???

Probably because they're basing it on her original design in the Mirage comics.

And I don't believe it's THAT bad.

It's so outta style....I don't think it was ever IN style...@TurtleTitan97: yes it is!! 0_0

point is...if you have a chance to redesign a character take out the bad parts first!! :D

good example IDW's version~

Base on what I had seen, they never take characters straight from the 80's tmnt, and plus this is a children's show so I really doubt that they are going to make her dress something so skimpy.

I liked her headgear in the Mirage Comic...sort of. I don't mind her having headgear, but maybe they could tone it down some. Besides, she's a time traveler. Maybe in "our time" it's out of style, but in her time, it's not.

This is also Ross Campbell, who creates the best female character designs ever in the history of anything and just draws them the best ever ever ever.

I love everything he touches.
