Do you think Raph will get a love interest?
 

So far we have DonXApiral, LeoxKarai(ish), and with Renet is appearing soon, possibly MikeyxRenet which would leave Raph as the only turtle in the group without love interest.

Do you think Raph will ever love interest and if so who do you think it'll be?

I don't think he necessarily needs one, but it'd be interesting to see. Though I'd prefer he didn't. It would only work if it was similar to what Leo and Karai had going: a tease. Not taken too far like Donnie and April.

Who knows at this point, but I'm hoping he doesn't. I like his reactions to his brothers. lol

Hard to say, good chance maybe it would happen eventually, seeing as how Mikey will next be getting a lady to crush on.


If he does, I'd really love for it to be Mona Lisa. In terms of franchise, would be adorable to see her turn up in his life again after all these years.

They don't even need to have him crushing on her if they don't want, I'd be just fine if they left it to her having affections for him and poking at him sometimes and trying to cozy up to him because of it... then watch him try to tolerate her affections. lol I know it makes her just another girl marked as a love interest, but at least doing it like that would be from her angle, being the chaser rather than seeing it from the Turtle side.

How about just a female friend? Since Casey is bonding with Donnie, Raph needs a new person to go all vigilante with.

I chose no one, but if one was to show up I hope it's Mona Lisa.

I always loved the idea, that only the "cool but rude" Raph gets a real girlfriend (in TMNTA)...

I would like something similar in the series too: all turtles have crushes, but only Raph has a girlfriend... (and perhaps with the portraying, that he shows publicly very little how much he loves her)

That could build up to a lot of confrontations between the turtles, wich would be interesting.

But' just IMHO.

As for Nick Raphael getting a potential love interest, I commented that it seems a likely possibility on another thread:
If it was any other TMNT show or universe, I would be more welcome to the idea, but this Nick series has handled crushes and romantic interests poorly that never seem to go anywhere (i.e. the Donnie-April-Casey love triangle), then again it is a kids' show, so not much romantic depth is expected here, or is frankly just creepy at times (i.e. the bizarre incestuous crush between Leo and Karai, plus Donnie's "stalker"ish behavior toward April at times).

I think if all the other guys are going to have love interests or female friends then it's only fair that Raph have one too.

April is warming up to Donnie, though I still stand by her being more endeared to him when he's acting as himself as her friend. Not when he's trying to impress her.

Karai and Leo...I don't see that relationship going very far. I mean yeah they are technically not related. But I don't see them going beyond love interests.

Mikey and Renette might be cute. I see that more as a loved doomed from the start, they love each other but due to her being a guardian of time and Mikey being a Ninja turtle, they can never truly be together. But at the same time she can always return to the moments of time where they existed and still be with them. So in a way they are also together for eternity.

Mona Lisa I would like to see return as a love interest for Raph, but with this story it would make sense for her to be April's mother. I mean yeah one of the reasons is the original voice of Mona Lisa was April's mother in a very literal sense. And it would be awesome to have Pat Musick reprise her role.
We know April's mother is supposedly out there somewhere. And it would make sense that April's mother hasn't been seen yet because she is a yet to be seen mutant.

Ninjara and Mezcaal have only been Archie Comic book Characters so far and the producers do look to the Mirage, Archie Comics, and OT series more then the 2k3 series and IDW.

But April, Karai, and Renet are human and humanish (Human in appearance only) characters. So yes it makes sense that Joi joins the team, after all we don't know Joi long enough for her to have much development in the 2k3 so she's blank slate enough to be an all new character.

With her I can see her being similar to Donnie's crush on April, however it's Joi who has feelings for Raph (i.e. She likes him and wants to be with him. But Raph just thinks of her as a friend who happens to be female), and much like Leo and Karai both Joi and Raph have a flirtatious way of fighting each other. And like Mikey it's a relationship that is more or less doomed from the start. Because after all she's a girl and he's a mutant turtle. What sort of life can they possibly have together.

However Joi in a way can become Ninjara or Alopex or maybe Venus (Not counting on it). I mean all three female love interests are not human or not currently human. April is a half human/half Kraang mutant. Karai is a mutant currently and will eventually be restored to human. Renet is a teenage girl from another dimension. So perhaps Joi much like Karai is mutated but she is more secure with herself in that form.

I hope not. I don't watch TMNT for romance. I watch it for fascinating characters and butt-kicking martial arts. Please.... no more love interests......

You forgot to add Casey to that list.:lol:But seriously I wouldn't mind if he did, at least he would go through what Leo and Donnie have and maybe become less judgmental about other turtles' relationships.

My fanfic comic is Raph x Casey so :tlol: it sort of just happened by itself.

But yeah I'm down with that, though Raph seems kinda cold towards him in the show. Who could blame him, Casey mainly just goes and smother April all the time.

Please no more, the love triangle and Leo/Karai should have been enough romance for a show that doesn't (shouldn't) focus on that...
Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that nowadays love seems to be a MUST in almost every show and I'm fine with that, but we have more than enough of this. And with Renet coming...

I have no problem with the turtles having love interests. It's a normal part of life and being a teenager. So, why not?

I have to admit though, it would be sorta fun to see him wrestle with feelings that he might fear would make his brothers and others think he's loosing his 'tough guy' edge. lol

I'll be honest, I was gonna vote Mona Lisa, but then I thought it might be nice to see him intertwined with an original character. It'd be a neat way to set him apart from his bros who've all been smitten with characters that already exist in older incarnations.

I liked Joi, but love Mona Lisa. But guess what. Why not have the best of both worlds. Joi shows up and over time, like Bradord, Karai and Baxter, she gets mutated into Mona Lisa!:D

And like others have said though, the chick in his life doesn't neccessarily have to be a love interest, just a strong gal pal for him to hang out with.

I'm afraid the massive equal forces of outrage vs. utter euphoria that drives the creation of 100k more fan arts in a single night would cause the universe to tear apart.

I'm indifferent. I've like the Leo/Karai interaction, but the Donnie/April/Casey triangle is loathsome.

If I were to have to choose it'd be Mona Lisa, and it'd be HER doing the crushing on HIM. It'd be keeping along with the 87 show while also differing itself from the other romances.

That said, I'd want it to be subtle. Have her more of a friend to Raph who occasionally drops the rare hint (flirty dialogue, intruding on personal space, small stuff) and leave the relationship to be either resolved at the end of the series or teased.

I'm more wondering how they'd characterize Mona Lisa though. Her 87 version is definitely too soft for the Nick Raph. I'd imagine they'd make her a tad more fiery.

..one part of me would like to see, how he'd react to it, the other part just say spare him all the trouble. We have already enough love in this show, alright.

I think the only way to make it work is to have a character that has a lot things going for her other then being a romantic love interest. Like she would have personal motivations and conflicts like Karai.

That also might be reason why April is in my opinion....not such a well written character. She has personal goals but most of the time, it's Donnie that actually pursuing it for April.

Then again, I suppose the personal conflict for her was breaking off from the Turtles but...but it didn't feel like a problem for her to figure it out or anything.
It just feels weak to me.

Well, I read a funny fanfic where the Turtles, April, Casey, Karai, Splinter and Kirby all get transported to a magical world where the fantastical exists, and they get approached by horsemen, and Mikey get excited when he realizes the riders aren't riding horses, but unicorns, and everyone could see the unicorns except for Splinter, Kirby, Donnie and April. It was kind of cute when Mikey kept on asking Donnie and April why they couldn't see the unicorns!:lol:

I think the best approach would have Mona Lisa be part of the Newtralizer's race, and she goes against her people to save Earth, and comes to Earth to try and warn them about danger, and in turn, she gets outcast and hunted down by The Newtralizer for her efforts, and Raph gives her the support she needs.

April? How old is she?

But on a serious note: with the way Nick's TMNT handles relationships and characters, I doubt anything really good will come out of it. More like it will be used for a few aesops which would be promptly forgotten by the next episode, and some cheap laughs.

Actually Leo and Karai's relationship is pretty good. Not in your face, just teasing and currently it ends/put on hold rather tragically (in a good way).
