I hope they give them a less stupid name.

TonySiegel 10-31-2014 05:03 PM

should those unfamiliar with the mighty mutanimals be excited?

Heh, I'm with you on that. I wont knock it if they wanna keep the namesake, if only for nostalgia or it being recognizable (which to those outside of these forums, it may not be), but they could definitely use a new title. Especially when you consider that it's virtually all new members.

Absolutely! Honestly, this book will probably be nothing like the original one, which was sometimes goofy & very eco-conscious & anti-establishment. I imagine this will be very much in the vein of their appearances in the main book, which would be rad. They're like the TMNT but with ambiguous morals, which should make for a lot of mischievous fun!

CyberCubed 10-31-2014 05:15 PM

We need:

- Leatherhead (but he's likely being added soon)
- Man Ray
- Wingnut/Screwloose

I could do without Jaguar or Dreadmon.

Plus it will probably be a different roster, On that Promo image, You can see Mondo Gecko, Slash, Pigeon Pete, Old Hob and some new mutant

Though I would like to see Leatherhead, Ray Filet, Dreadmon, Jaguar, Wingnut & Screwloose in it as well.

Maybe even add Alopex.

Tazi 10-31-2014 05:22 PM

Holy ****:

Spoiler:
NULL! :teek::teek:

And I'm still a fan of Kuhn's art, so I can't wait! :)

Joey Kamikaze 10-31-2014 05:23 PM

Holy ****! Null! Welp, this is officially the best TMNT universe. :D

I don't care if they literally call them the Mutanimals either, it is kind of a goofy name, but the concept (mutant outcasts trying to halt human destruction of earth) was always a sound one, especially if you make them a team of antiheroes as IDW has. And look who they get to fight. That tickles me pink.

So... Leatherhead has already been hinted at and will probably show up eventually. The other classic team members I still would like to see are Wingnut and Screwloose; I could take or leave the others... Either way, again, holy ****!

That new mutant is Herman the Hermit Crab, who showed up alongside Mondo in the most recent TMNT arc. His design is spectacular.

They should make them like an Avengers type thing, But with different mutants teaming up.

boywonder26 10-31-2014 05:33 PM

I want ace duck..I know he hasn't been hinted at and it'll probably never happen, but it would be cool, especially since shredder has koya

Tazi 10-31-2014 05:44 PM

I predict that they gonna meet Leatherhead in the Attack on Technodrome storyarc. I also think he somehow ended up in Dimension X, and now hangs out with the Neutrinos, or the Triceratons or something.
If that's right, I'm not seeing him joining Hob's gang.

So-CoAddict 10-31-2014 06:13 PM

Ohhh yeah! Looking forward to this. Definitely love the art style.

zodiac brave 10-31-2014 06:56 PM

this looks DEEEEEWWWWWPPPPP!!!

CyberCubed 10-31-2014 06:56 PM

Wingnut/Screwloose can easily appear since they'll probably be escaping the war from Dimension X. In Archie I'm pretty sure Krang destroyed Wingnut/Screwloose homeworld so it might be the same here.

We just need Man Ray. Feels really weird without him since he was the unofficial leader of the team in the Archie series.

CharmedSerenity 10-31-2014 07:03 PM

ZOMG, cannot wait (partly because Hob's become my favorite IDW character), :tgrin:

TigerClaw 10-31-2014 07:03 PM

Since Mondo Gecky is part of the team, I wonder which route they are going with him, He obviously has the skateboard on that pic, But will he be human turned mutant gecko, like in the comics, or gecko turned mutant gecko.

ChosenOne 10-31-2014 07:22 PM

Oh man, what a birthday present from IDW! It's past midnight where I am already, but what the heck! :D

Mutant Ninja Anole 10-31-2014 07:26 PM

Sweet, so happy they're getting their own spin off.

Not that familiar with Archie, so I had to look up Null. Seems logical to think he may turn out to have a connection to the circle of entities that include Kitsune and the Rat King.

Have you been reading the IDW comics? He, and all of the other characters pictured, have been introduced, and they are animal mutants.

He's just a gecko. See TMNT #38-39.

And yeah, Cubed, in TMNTA Krang destroyed Wingnut and Screwloose's home world in Dimension X. I could see IDW making them mutants too though and it would work. Either way I'd love to see those plankton chips again.

Null was one of the best things about TMNTA. And yeah, I've been hoping they'd introduce him as part of the "family" because that fits perfectly with his character. Null gets off on destroying nature and abusing women, and he becomes more physically demonic with every scheme he pulls. He's also a super rich businessman and a long term schemer, and victories over him are often fairly pyrrhic.

He's also the man who sold the world to Maligna, another unique TMNTA villain it would be fun to see down the line, and the central antagonist of #14-19, the Mutanimals series, United We Stand Divided We Fall, and Terracide. IDW will have a lot to pull from bringing Null into the story.

Interesting, Just saw this panel.

It looks like Old Hob will be the leader of this new Mighty Mutanimals.

Ninjinister 10-31-2014 08:06 PM

At least (so far) they're all actually mutants. The original Mutanimals had only two.

Yeah, Dreadmon and Jaguar were the only ones who weren't Mutants.

But I wouldn't be surprise if they bring them into the IDW universe as Mutants.

Actually Wingnut and Screwloose were aliens and Archie Leatherhead was a magically cursed human.

Given that this is a different universe that borrows from all versions of TMNT. I wouldn't be surprise if they turn up in this series as Mutants.

Even though I haven't read the IDW comics.

Raph's Girl 10-31-2014 08:22 PM

So Old Hob's team is officially the new Mutanimals eh?? Hopefully they'll last for a while and not have a depressing ending like the original group.

Ahem... NULL!!!!!! EEEEE!!!!!!!!! :o

Yeah, I really hope it will last way longer.

Though I never the Comics, But it seems Old Hobs is now a good guy? And hes setting up a team of mutants?

I wonder if they are doing an Avengers for Mutants? Old Hob has an Eye Patch, So hes like the TMNT version of Nick Fury?

MikeandRaph87 10-31-2014 08:31 PM

Spoiler tags just in case...
Spoiler:
So after Shredder and/or Krang are given a rest Null takes center stage. I never thought the character would ever be expored again. I would be happy to trade in Pidgeon Pete for Ace Duck or another familar face. He seems like a wasted slot.

The questions now are 1.what direction will this take? 2. Will this be a mini-series? Perhaps following the January conclusion of TMNT/Ghostbusters it will star in February.

CyberCubed 10-31-2014 08:39 PM

Given the Archie influence, anyone get the feeling Old Hob will become Verminator-X? They look practically identical he just needs the cyborg implants.

And yeah, I know his name was "Manx" when he was a normal cat mutant in Archie, but that doesn't matter.

corvus 10-31-2014 08:42 PM

This isn't a huge surprise. Please read the main comic!!!! There's no new characters in the pic.

I wouldn't be surprise if they had stories that were set in the future, and Old Hob becomes Verminator-X.

It'd be a stretch to call him a good guy, as he's a kidnapper & terrorist, among other things, but he & his team have become allies to the turtles, at least.

Somewhat ironic & surprising that Null is being rebooted though, considering he pretty much represents Viacom. I mean, after all, he's supposed to be the personification of big business & greed.

And he's practically The Devil. Surprised Nick is approving of them using religious stuff in this series, especially since on the Mirage reprints the disclaimer is they have nothing to do with the few religious overtones in Mirage.

If Old Hob goes back to being the bad guy, What would happen with the Mutanimals? They have to pick sides, and they always been good.

Eh, horns being a sign of evil may be rooted in the image of Satan, but in 2014, it isn't necessarily synonymous with him. Without a sneak peak of Null, for all we know, the guy could be the spitting image of Richard Simmons. :tlol: I think it'd be cool if he looked like Stan Lee, personally.

Well, Slash is Mikey's buddy, so I could see him remaining an ally. We don't know much of Mondo as of yet, but I imagine he'll go down the same path as he has in the past. Mr. Krabs seems blindly loyal, so he might become a baddie, & Pete is a moron so he'd likely remain under Hob's thumb, too. But I doubt that'll happen.

Yeah I was saying Mondo and Ray were the only mutants. Even if you count Slash, he's an alien in that continuity.

Hob is more of an antihero existing in the grey area on the moral scale. The turtles are currently working with more more out of necessity than desire. Hob hates humans and wants to create a world for mutants. Think Magneto.

(And seriously, read the comic, it's spectacular.)
