Does anyone else here never wear jewelery?

I've never worn a ring of any kind (not married), never worn a necklace, never had an earing. Hell I don't even wear a watch because I use my phone to tell the time.

Does anyone else here never wear jewelery?

Gunpowder 11-10-2014 02:17 AM

As of right now, I can say I've never worn jewelry. Though I've been considering (for a long time) to start wearing necklaces, just for the sake of it. I also thought about getting my ears pierced at some point...but quickly realized that was a bad idea.

Mzx10484 11-10-2014 02:22 AM

NEVER !! I Have worn a watch when I was I child for about 2 weeks ... then I lost / forgot it somewhere in the swimming bath. That's it. Never.

Candy Kappa 11-10-2014 02:51 AM

I don't wear watches, but I occasionally wear jewelry. Got an awesome necklace made from a d20 die.

ProactiveMan 11-10-2014 03:05 AM

I don't. I used to wear a watch, but I haven't done so in years.

Although I have been known to wear a phantom ring, but only to slam evil.

I used to wear earrings when I had my ears pierced, but I haven't worn them in a long time. Most of the time I don't wear any jewelery because I just don't like wearing it.

AT-Man 11-10-2014 08:09 AM

I used to wear a watch, but then I suddenly didn't anymore.

Walkabout 11-10-2014 08:21 AM

I've never been comfortable wearing necklaces, rings etc- never had a pierced ear or anything else for that matter either.
It's just not me.

I never wore a watch either until my late Grandfather gave me his.

Davetello 11-10-2014 03:42 PM

In my younger days, I used to wear a lot of silver (don't really like gold). Silver chains, bracelets, hooped and studded earrings, silver rings, seashell necklaces. I really love dog tags as well. But over the last few years I have sort of stopped. I sometimes wear my thick silver chain but that's it. I do like jewellery though, I must admit. I was actually thinking about asking for a ring or two for Xmas.

Icebot 11-10-2014 04:38 PM

I wear a watch but that's about it.

Why do you say that? As long as you got a smaller-gauge piercing, it'd close up again with no problems if you wanted to take it out.

I consistently wear jewelry, though I don't usually like wearing things on my wrists unless they're non-metal. I mean, I've always got my piercing jewelry in (and always have back-up o-rings and spare bars in my wallet in case I ever lose a ball or something while I'm out and about), and I wear a lot of necklaces unless I'm having a day where I'm deliberately trying to look more androgynous.

I don't wear anything really expensive, except for the rings my partner gave me - but I wear those on a chain around my neck rather than on my fingers.

MrPliggins 11-10-2014 06:09 PM

I wear a watch when I dress up for an occasion such as a wedding or a formal event. A girlfriend once bought me a gold chain, which I wore once or twice. Jewelry isn't really my thing. Never had anything pierced.

Peanut 11-10-2014 06:18 PM

I had an earring for a few years, but stopped wearing it and it grew over. I had an eyebrow ring in high school for less than a week and it got torn out in a fight, still have the scar. I also wore rings off and on in high school when I was dating, because there was a fad where couples would share a ring and swap it between classes or whatever. Dumb teenage sh*t, mostly.

Aside from those, my immediate thought was that I don't, but I've actually been wearing a chain for almost 10 years. My fiance gave it to me on our first anniversary and I've never taken it off. It's weird, because I've worn it for so many years that I don't even think about it anymore. It's just a part of me.

Netkeeper 11-10-2014 06:27 PM

Same here, with the chain. My dad gave me a quartz crystal when I was around 7 or 8 and I've worn one ever since -- my original crystal broke some years later, but he gave me a replacement that I've grown really attached to. Everyone in my family wears one, but Dad and I are the only two that never take ours off.

I think people get really attached to the jewelry pieces that they don't take off; I don't usually like having my wolf pendant off for any reason (on the occasions that I do take it off, where I'm doing stuff where it might get broken, I make sure it's within arms' length of me still).

I feel like it's got so much of my... well, energy/aura in a sense? It's such a personal thing. Not in a hippy-dippy kind of way (although that's probably how it's sounding... I dunno, maybe it is), but you know how in the old countries, they had the superstition about burning hair and toenail clippings so nobody could use it to put the evil on you?

Maybe it's just me.

CyberCubed 11-10-2014 07:34 PM

I don't get it, chains don't wash off when you wear them into the shower? I always imagined the water would loosen them off your body and it would fall down the drain.

Prowler 11-10-2014 07:36 PM

I don't either. Not even a watch, since I see no point in getting one when I can just check the time on my phone.

Cure 11-10-2014 07:53 PM

Just a watch for me.

I'm serious, I've never worn jewelry much less in the shower, so I don't know how it works.

I remember reading stories of people losing their earings in the shower drains.

pennydreadful 11-10-2014 09:28 PM

You have seen people wearing jewelry though, right? Necklaces and bracelets usually have a clasp which prevents them from coming undone.

As far as earrings go, it'd depend on the type - I don't wear "standard" butterfly-backed or hoop earrings so I couldn't comment on whether they're prone to getting lost easily. Everything in my ears is proper piercing-grade barbells/flatback plugs or captive bead rings (which I clean and check the tightness of every morning). Occasionally I've had ear jewelry come loose in my sleep (as I toss and turn quite a bit), but never in the shower - with the weight and type that I wear, I'd hear it hit the tiles anyway; regardless, it's pretty unlikely. I've been wearing piercing jewelry in various parts of my anatomy since I was 18 and I've never lost a piece in the shower. All of my bars are internally threaded as well, which is less prone to coming loose than externally threaded jewelry.

ssjup81 11-10-2014 10:02 PM

Of course. Earrings. I do have a professional pic of me at the age of four and I'm wearing a necklace for it. Mom obviously dressed me up. lol

Oh, and me with a watch. lol

You've never worn a watch? So you're younger than what you say, right?

I always use my phone to tell the time, I've never worn a watch. As for age I'm nearing 30 soon and it makes me sad, as I made a topic about.

I have this yin yang pendant that I wear on occasion, and it's on a thick string. I've also worn watches, but they weren't anything fancy. So I'm guess not much of a jewelry guy myself.

Jester 11-11-2014 05:37 AM

Watch and wedding ring.

Used to wear a cross necklace on a leather strap and a bracelet made of clothespin springs when I was in high school.

MsMarvelDuckie 11-11-2014 04:02 PM

Um- I ALWAYS wear at least a necklace. I used to wear my wedding/engagement ring, but since I have worked in the food industry for almost a decade, I stopped wearing it, as I was worried it might come off into the pizza ingredients (when I worked at a Papa John's) and haven't worn it since. I used to wear earrings, too, but I usually wore the hook type, and one of my jobs didn't allow earrings, so I stopped wearing those. I do slip some in on occasion, but not normally. But I NEVER take off my pendants. I have one that is an onyx and zirconia-covered spider, and another that I currently wear that is a small tiger's-eye carved into a turtle. (Spider and turtle are two of my animal totems, along with the panther, falcon, and dragon, so I wear them for spiritual reasons.) I also had a Goddess Rose pentacle that I used to wear all the time, but it was pewter, and since the metal is soft, it eventually broke. But the other two I wear on sturdy chains, and they are made of silver or stone, so they are stronger. I only take one off when I want to switch them out.

And yes, I wear them even to bed or in the shower- never had one come off in the shower yet! And the chains are just the right length to avoid getting tangled or twisted, so I don't worry about them when I sleep.

Not sure, actually. I guess I just decided I didn't want the extra attention brought to myself...but lately I'm starting to consider it again. Don't plan on getting it done anytime soon, but the thought's still there.

Started wearing a watch regularly last year when I started the prison job. Used to wear a chain in my teen years.

slashpieturtlemix 11-21-2014 12:51 PM

The only jewelry I wear is a ying-yang right on my left middle finger lol

My dad works in a few jails and prisons installing cameras, computers, and alarms.
I'll have to ask if his job allows him to wear any sort of watches or if it would interfere with company policies or the equipment that he installs.

shuriken 11-21-2014 01:37 PM

When I was in high school I thought I would um...Accessorize?
Had a little cross necklace, a ring, a watch and rubber bands for some reason.
Now? Just hair ties in case the one I'm using rips. A watch on occasion.

I wear bone-carved pieces that are handmade by various artists/carvers, inspired by Polynesian culture. The bones used are of cow bones. Although, they do make pieces out of whale bone, but, I can't trust if the whale was killed by poachers or not, so, I stay out of that, regardless if it was "legally" obtained (much, like, how many diamonds are "legally" obtained by bordered countries of Sierra Leone that don't have such resources).

I doubt it would interfere with the equipment, but never know. Everybody that's in custody here wears a watch. Not required, but you need one.

Yeah I should have mentioned that my father grounds wires and installs motherboards into computer control boxes as part of his job . That last mention isn't a great opportunity to be wearing any watches.

Well if you ever reconsider and have any questions you want to ask beforehand, let me know. :) I don't think there's as much stigma for guys with pierced lobes these days - I can't imagine many people batting an eyelid over a tiny little 10 or 12g set of lobe piercings when there are so many guys walking around with stretched lobes. (Just in case that came off sounding like I have a problem with stretched lobes - I don't, I just imagine it catches more attention!)

Yeah. Definently not a good idea then.

CyberCubed 11-25-2014 02:59 PM

Watches are SO last century. Why buy an expensive watch when you can take 3 seconds to pull you phone out of your pocket and tell the time?

I can't believe people out there spend $200-$500 for something that tells you the time. We're not in 1985 anymore.
