Okay, I'm running a lil close to the wire, but we've got a new episode up tonight.

Dream beavers... it sounds like the name of a bad porno, but what is this episode really about? Is this going to be some actual deep insight into what the turtles are thinking about right now: Hiding in Northampton, the invasion in New York, the loss of Splinter... their deepest fears?


We've had some serious episodes, some humorous... this could really be a toss-up. I have a feeling it will be less serious and more into the horror genre, with a lot of cornballish humor. We'll see. :)

Some cool scenes in this episode and nice backgrounds.

The part with the guy using the chainsaw against Casey was more creepy than the writers intended, especially because it was real and Casey could have been chopped up. Did that remind anyone else of Resident Evil 4?

Though this being the umpteenth horror episode in this show took a bit of sting off this one since we've seen so many similar episodes.

That was... weird.

The voice of the general store owner was Bill Moseley and the chainsaw had The Saw Is Family on the blade.

A reference to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

What did I just watch? lol Different, very different. Dear god Dave... LOL Not too much stands out to me, but not a bad episode.

What did it say on the chainsaw? Didn't quite catch it.

Hope the old guy is back around again since he's a new neighbor.

Because I never watched that movie and it reminded me of the chainsaw guys in Resident Evil 4

i liked it. i wish they would have some how or another found a way to get bruce campbell to play the store owner.

Since we've had several "it's a dream" episodes so far, what made this watchable was some funny moments and I understood that this was about satire and except for the point where Casey/April have to "fix" the device to make the Turtles wake up, it was all about fantasy within a fantasy and I could easily get the feeling that this wasn't meant to be taken seriously. The beavers obviously were sort of dark versions of the Turtles themselves. Unfortunately, I feel that this is one of the worst episodes of the series so far and it saddens me that with all of the promotion as of late, this easily could have been made by the Platinum Dunes script. Yes, the part with Mikey in his own dream and the brief Rock concert cameo were cool along with a flashback to the City, but I was just unimpressed with the quality of this episode.

Overall: 5/10

I thought it was a good episode, We haven't seen the last of those Dream Beavers.

This episode was insane, I loved it! I think it's my favorite from S3 so far.

The beavers, the visuals, the dreams (Raph's was the BEST, Mikey's was predictable :lol:) everything was so much fun.

Yeah yeah, I'm tired of filler too, but judging this episode on it's own.. it was great! :D

What surprised me the most was that the dream beavers arn't mutants.

I wonder why Donnie has no memory of April kissing him in the Bigfoot episode. The writers really need to keep tabs of where this ship is going.

OH. One fave part though was the other Turtles in Raph's dream.

The Big Trouble In Little China episode?

The Beavers had a weird feel like the Pac-Man Ghosts, everything down to their color and their names.

Dire, Dark, Dread, & Dave

Blinky, Pinky, Inky, & Clyde

But creatures from another Dimension? Nice to see animal characters who aren't mutants.

Wait, I didn't see a preview for a next one... hmm :ohwell:

I liked this episode, but it wasn't spectacular. I was hoping it to be a sort of sequel to Fungus Humongous with the nightmares being related to their fears (since that episode happened long enough ago for fears to change) and/or more extreme than in Fungus Humongous. I only saw that happening in this episode with Raphael with the snakes, so I suppose Karai has made him afraid of snakes otherwise it would have been cockroaches. Unless these nightmares weren't essentially their fears, but Raph did look pretty freaked out.
I was hoping to see Leonardo relive his fight with Shredder in his nightmare and wakes up by defeating him, and it would make him feel better about his defeat.
When Donnie ran into the school and the doors slammed open, I was hoping his nightmare would be students walking into the halls and seeing him, as Fungus Humongous suggested he's afraid of people judging him.
Since Mikey got Dave Beaver, I thought his dream should be a messed up sort of scary. Sort of like that small comic book part of the episode (reminded me of Mirage) and twisted into something really strange.
Raphael's was the best dream to watch. It brought up something new about his character, which is that he's afraid of snakes. Also, the heavy metal turtles were pretty cool. Donnie's was interesting too just because he's my favorite character and Leo's had an interesting concept.
Sincerely disappointed that the beavers' name (Dark, Dread, something else) had no obvious correlation to what they did. They were pretty much all Dark and then there was Dave.
Of course, the Nick writers aren't going to base the series on what I want. But this episode was entertaining and had some good parts (I still think Apritello can redeem itself so I liked the kiss she gave Donnie and how she was freaking out over him - "He's stopped breathing!"), but it had so much missed potential. :tcry:

Poor Leo still having trouble with his injured knee.

I actually started panicking when April said Donnie stopped breathing, I was like 'oh my god noooo'. :o

The dreams weren't about Turtles' fears. The dreams, save for Dave's/Mikey's, were just terrifying in general.

My fav of Season 3 so far. That was so much fun.

Also 'Insert Pizza here' had me rolling. Skating under the censors there.

This episode was a lot better than I expected it to be.

Out of all the nightmares, Raph's surprised me the most. That was the most hardcore dream I've ever seen. I nearly died at the Heavy Metal Turtles.

As usual, Mikey's was sadly predictable. I still wish he had had a more creepier dream. I honesty kept expecting the Squirrelanoids to suddenly show up.

That Texas Chainsaw Massacre sh*t was pretty intense and scary as well. Same for the armless, legless turtles about to be devoured in flames. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of sleepless children tonight after that.

Also, loved the little comic book scene.

Yeah this, it wasn't a fear episode just about the turtles having nightmares (except for Mikey).

I feel kinda bad for Leo thinking he's been miraculously healed and even better than ever and then, despite being a nightmare... it's one of those dreams you wake up and realize something good wasn't real. >.>

Loved that bit, hope a gif turns up.

Same thing with Nightmare on Elm Street, which this episode was clearly an homage to.

The nightmares weren't about people's fears. Just f*cked up stuff in general to scare them.

God I'm loving this season even more than I usually do.

Okay I know Robert Englund(Freddy Krueger), John Kassir(CryptKeeper), and I think John DiMaggio(Bender) were three of the Beavers. Anybody know the fourth?

I'm pretty sure all that's coming up with the walkabout/vision quest episode(s).

Better than I was expecting, but nothing spectacular. Frankly, I think I'm growing tired of all of the spooky psychedelics. Too much of a good thing often isn't good. I hate to say it, but even though I have enjoyed season 3's episodes very much, I am also super disappointed with them. Northampton arcs have always been synonymous with themes like isolation & introspection. It used to be about the turtles finding themselves & having down-time, leaning new things about one another & the world, getting in touch with nature, etc. Instead it's just been weekly wonky wacky weirdo monster/mutant madness.

Thanks for the heads up about this ep. being scary.. I was trying to decide if I was going to let my girls watch it with me!:D

The dreams are really quick and only intense for a few seconds. Shouldn't be a big deal.

EDIT: Hell, I'd say the Mom Thing episode was scarier than this episode. Even The Creep episode.
