Bring back irma!

As you can tell from the username i'm a huge fan of the 2012 show Irma- and was considering some sort of petition or informal campaign to get her returned to the show (naturally i was gutted about what transpired in the Invasion) I wanted to gauge how people feel about the character in fandom generally to see if i'm in the minority or not.

Irma is just so cool, stylish and gorgeous and added a different perspective to the show. She was a really cute damsel in distress in the Rat King episode- her fainting was adorable- poor thing!

I feel like it would be sooooo easy to write in a "real" Irma back in the show. Also my theory is that either she was "switched" with the Krang recently in the show and was real in earlier episodes or she was a "sleeper agent" who really thought she was Irma (and had her personality) and was unaware of being a Krang until the trigger phrase/sight of turtles.

Tell me what you think- and i'd love to hear any other Irma thoughts in general! :)

BubblyShell22 11-17-2014 03:53 PM

I thought she was okay, but she didn't show up enough for me to really gauge whether I really liked her or not. If she comes back, then cool. If not, then that's that.

IndigoErth 11-17-2014 04:09 PM

She's ok. I wasn't all that fond of her personalty in this version, but I had hopes that would improve once she would finally be in on the secret and met the Turtles. That is of course until that concept blew up in everyone's faces. But agree with the theory that she might have been switched. Maybe she is where ever April's mom is and both will be found.

Luckyday 11-17-2014 04:11 PM

She has presence and it was nice to have someone who was normal against the backdrop of aliens and mutants but she hardly had any screen time. If there were scenes of Irma interacting with April as her best friend then I would've been furious but that didn't happen so I was unfazed when she wasn't real.

Mukouno 11-17-2014 04:18 PM

To be honest I was pretty bumped by the reveal. I did kinda like her, her appearance was interesting and I was really excited for the moment she'd meet the turtles... Well, we all know how this turned out... I'm hoping she'll return and that there's a real Irma somewhere, but we might never know.

PangolinFeets 11-17-2014 04:33 PM

They kept teasing it at the NYCC panel. Ciro asked if everyone wanted Irma back and then immediately said, "Too bad, she's gone forever! Well, maybe. Who knows?"

e.e

I think there's a good chance of her coming back.

Luckyday 11-17-2014 04:38 PM

God Ciro is such a troll.

Well he learn from the best when he was here.

Eeeeeeee!

Thanks for the nice and open minded replies about my favourite character everyone!

I guess she was pretty minor so it might seem weird i'm such a big fan, but sure left an impression for me.

Me too, I love when new people meet them, love their slowly growing circle of friends and acquaintances.

Psh... she is so coming back then. :P I hope. Just hope it's not as a Kraang.

Though they all may have a bit of Irma PTSD. Would the Turtles want to meet a real one at this point. lol

MaximeLoonatic 11-17-2014 05:04 PM

I completly belive that Irma was really switched and that she has been always an human

Do you guy remember Irma's first cameo? It happened like four episodes before the Kraang discovered where April studies. And they couldn't even made the robot lady act like an human; Irma was too much sassy!! I think the Kraang captured her, made a copy of her brain waves or something so her copy could be perfect.

I'm so glad that somebody has started this post!
Here a Tumblr blog that supports Irma as human, check it out: http://irmalangensteinremake.tumblr.com

pennydreadful 11-17-2014 05:05 PM

I thought what happened to Irma in "The Invasion" sucked unwashed toenails.

matteso586 11-17-2014 06:37 PM

If the rumors are true, then Irma might of had a sanity slippage at some point before we get an official answer.

Powder 11-17-2014 07:27 PM

Boooooooooo!

BabyTurtles 11-17-2014 07:42 PM

I really liked Irma...I hope she comes back. :(

FoxBoxKid 11-17-2014 08:06 PM

Meh. I really don't see what they could do to keep her from being an extraneous character. Somebody tell me something Irma can add to the plot. Even if they made her a mutant, we already have the storyline with Karai. Unless someone offers a good way to work Irma into the story, I'd prefer she stay where she is.

TurtleTitan97 11-17-2014 08:08 PM

Aw man, not this again.......

I still believe it would be a real copout if the writers decided to bring in a real Irma. I say leave her as a robot.

ssjup81 11-17-2014 08:31 PM

I liked the character and if I hadn't learned of the character, I would have never started watching this show. ^^. I found her interesting, didn't favor her or anything, but was highly curious about her.

Anyway, I'll quote myself.

The Kraang were kidnapping scientists in general. They didn't know that April was the one they needed until after she sent in her DNA for her Biology class. April was friends with Irma prior to this, if the Mousers ep is any indication.

If Irma was made for the sole purpose of spying on April, seems their friendship would've been established after the first TCRI ep, not before it.

I still have this feeling Irma was switched sometime after the second Rat King ep since after that point she started asking about April's secret friends. Also, if the Kraang can do that, why not kidnap April, replace her, and perfect their mutagen sooner? They could've easily lured her with Irma.

This is why I kept theorizing on Irma being real. They could've gotten April way earlier if they had that kind of technology the whole time. The Kraang weren't working with Shredder yet, either when she first had that cameo and we learned that the two were friends.

She could've lured April super easily to the Kraang, they could've made a Kraangbot April, use there Kraangbot April to lure out the turtles, use the real April to perfect their mutagen, take over NY and the world, etc. Too many missed opportunities there.

Until it's fully confirmed or someone says so, I still have this feeling Irma is real, was switched out sometime after Of Rats and Men or maybe even after A Chinatown Ghost Story, and that the technology for such a perfect disguise was still new.

Definitely a Vince Russo-style "They'll NEVER see this coming!" kind of swerve, just done to rattle cages. That kind of thing annoys me sometimes. Sometimes you have to, but again, as we see here, you often run the risk of alienating people as well.

It's kind of a crowded show so it's not a necessity they bring her back, but it would probably make some people happy who weren't fans of the Swerve.

yea it's crowded with mutants....I wished they'd get rid of some and have some more humans on the show.

You took the words right out of my mouth - if they can throw in at least one new mutant every episode, I don't see why Irma can't get a little screen time too.

IrmaFan 11-17-2014 10:29 PM

also it's much more crowded with male characters than female ones- to me Irma is the most stylishly designed human in the show so far and has all sorts of potential to grow

oldmanwinters 11-17-2014 10:39 PM

The execution of the "Irma" project didn't make a ton of sense, but I'm cool with the end result. April was being played from the beginning, and Irma was the greatest ruse ever concocted by the Kraang. I won't lose a bit of sleep if she's never mentioned again.

Shark_Blade 11-18-2014 03:56 AM

I want Irma back too.

neatoman 11-18-2014 06:39 AM

Irma was unimportant, take some advice:

I dunno, she's pretty unique and interesting to be discarded aside so easily.

Maybe?

IndigoErth 11-18-2014 08:41 AM

I dunno, she was either a Kraang plot or got used as one, that sounds pretty important. :)

drgon78 11-18-2014 12:19 PM

I am for getting the real Irma in the show and it would make much more sense if she was replaced by the Kraang after she was introduced, not before, or never existed to begin with.

Super Goku 11-18-2014 12:46 PM

I also hope that we have the real Irma show up. I'm waiting for this to happen in season 3. It would be a great moment. I don't believe it is going to happen though.

In other Irma related news (:D), I'm working on a custom action figure.

plastroncafe 11-18-2014 12:51 PM

There's no room for Irma at the TMNT Inn.
Unlimited space for more dudes and dude mutants however.

Will it have a hatch that reveals a Kraang?

lol, no thankfully. The shirt and boots are not cartoon accurate either, but they seem like something that Irma might wear if she ever changed clothes. The paint is drying now. Pictures should be coming soon.

Well we can't possibly risk too many girl cooties, think of the children.

Unless she has super powers or can time travel. So it seems. Although there is the "tea time with Leonardo" girl.

I won't be surprised if Kraang Subprime shows up in season 3. I hope he won't be pretending to be Irma anymore.

This. She had no real personality and really didn't add anything other then "Hey look, its Irma!".

(Although having another female around would be cool, I'd like her to have some character to her.)

lindz247 11-18-2014 05:07 PM

I want Irma back! I want her to actually meet the turtles so she can be in the show more! We never really got to see her full personality. I agree that it would be easy they could just that the Kraang took the real Irma for experiments/etc. Now that she's not there, there's like an empty space in the show now don't ya think?

Not really. I have to ask though, what did you see in Irma? She honestly didn't do anything.

I know you're not asking me, but to me I think Irma added to the show, in that she expanded the Nick TMNT world. She was another character who had potential, and she made things more interesting. There was that element of whether or not she would meet the turtles or what she would eventually do. In addition to that, she was a new version of a character that I like from the original cartoon. She also added to April's life. Instead of it just being April, Casey, and the turtles. It presented a whole new side to April's story. It also made April more of a regular human character, in that she had a friend who was female from high school. Not that everyone must have friends, but it added more to the show.

Basically anytime you have a recurring character in any cartoon, then abruptly write them out of the show and ruin the character at the same time, that's a problem.
