Official Ep Discussion: S3 Ep6: "Race with the Demon"

Down to the wire, it is!

Damn, I'm away for a few days and this place explodes...

Machias Banshee 11-21-2014 06:39 PM

I don't even know what to say... poll on the way!

snake 11-21-2014 06:41 PM

I'll say it again. Meh episode was rushed and meh.

Vicky82 11-21-2014 06:42 PM

Wierd episode but i'm more annoyed that the stream went down for 5 mins near the end.

I loved the ending were April had her arm round Raph.

lonewarrior20 11-21-2014 06:43 PM

i liked it.
i loved that they played the insult game and i always wondered why there was a chicken on the hot rod toy. now i know. i'll be glad to see the next episode after the hiatus is over.

Maybe it was meant to be rushed as it did have car chase scenes.

IndigoErth 11-21-2014 06:44 PM

Well that was a few different kinds of wrong. :teek:

But I like the car that eats people... Eating Donnie, best part. Sorry Donnie. (Edit: And April/Raph at the end, and Leo taking out Speed Demon, also best parts.)

...creepy brain chicken

Edit: What is the chance Casey/Donnie's car will end up a toy. Also, was that an old Speak & Spell I saw? lol

Mellie 11-21-2014 06:47 PM

Well.. that was weird  Not as good as the Dream Beavers, but I liked it.

Donnie and Casey bonding! I REALLY hope we can lay off the love triangle now.

I also like how April and Raph are finally starting to interact with each other.

No preview again. We're really in the dark now huh? All we know is the vision quest is coming up sometime.

Vicky82 11-21-2014 06:48 PM

I saw it had that little orange keyboard computer (can't remember what it was called) in Casey's car and I had one of those back in the 80s:D

I loved those parts, but tthey should've explained speed demon more.

CyberCubed 11-21-2014 06:49 PM

Pretty decent episode, more surprised how much work was put into the highway and the roads. The episode picked up when Don became the speed demon toward the end.

PangolinFeets 11-21-2014 06:49 PM

Loved it. Alphabet insult game was awesome. I loved giant evil Donnie head. Ha ha ha.

CyberCubed 11-21-2014 06:50 PM

Rob Paulsen deserves a huge shout-out for this episode. He was using his Gray Fox voice from Metal Gear Solid as mutato-Donnie.

Me too... :D
Spoiler:

This here kids is a Speak & Spell, back when technology could only pretend to be "smart." But it was cool for an "educational" thing. ;)

It's probably still in my attic somewhere.

I'm guessing it's going to be on hiatus until January as that playmate news said Rocksteady and Bebop debute happens in January.

Ah man! These hiatuses get worse every season.

Syb3rStrife 11-21-2014 06:53 PM

The Raph/April shippers are gonna have a field day with that last scene.

Looks like a lot of people got their wish for some Donnie and Casey bromance.

Liked the 'Good Enough' reference to Good Year tires and the 'Dead Man's Curve' reference to Fast and Furious.

LOVED Speed Demon!Donnie. I just wish he had a little more screen time. Really hope they put out a figure of him.

Over all nice episode. Didn't play out exactly how I thought it would but it was nice seeing Casey and Donnie team up to take on the Speed Demon.

Wonder how long before they're at each others throats again.

Vicky82 11-21-2014 06:55 PM

I have to watch the episode again later as I missed 5 mins of it (cut out when Donnie became Speed Demon) due to the stream going down.

Yeah that was it. :D

IndigoErth 11-21-2014 06:56 PM

I want the car... with the hood "mouth" that opens... with teeth.

From poll:
"...did anyone else's mind go in the gutter during the cartoon scene?"

You mean when the main character grabbed the centaur and I thought "there will be a gif of this"? Why yes, yes it did fall right in the gutter. Somehow I think it was intended.

lindz247 11-21-2014 06:57 PM

I don't even know what I just watched. For most of the episode my dad (who always has to watch the episodes with me) was giving me the weirdest looks. I bet he was thinking something like WHAT THE HECK.
The beginning was okay but near the end's where I lost interest. The episodes are getting worse cause their running out of ideas. This shows going to fall apart before we even get back to NY.

PangolinFeets 11-21-2014 06:57 PM

The undercarraige was my favorite part. The car was totally sick.

CyberCubed 11-21-2014 06:59 PM

Also I'm pretty sure Don/Casey working on that car was a throwback to the first movie.

It was totally a reference

Well at least there's not a break after each episode.

ObiWanFan4life 11-21-2014 07:16 PM

I enjoyed this episode, although I'm convinced that they wrote that ending just so Rob Paulsen would have an excuse to go wild.

Jephael 11-21-2014 07:16 PM

That episode was so awesome! Everybody was so in character here, and I loved it!!! I'm curious now to find out who provided the voice of the Speed Demon and the human who was his original vessel.

Shh, quiet you, don't give the scheduling people any ideas. :P

Miss the good old days when the original could be counted on to be on every day after school...

Yea, I gotta admit I kinda miss those old commercials. The ones they air these days drive me insane! If I see another add for Monster High, I'm gonna bash my head into the television screen!!!

Hahaha, but seriously please don't.

IndigoErth 11-21-2014 07:42 PM

I find the mute button at least partially effective. ;) Used it enough I hardly recall what commercials were on tonight during breaks. lol

Still it surprises me that I never really see commercials for Turtles stuff during breaks for their own show. :tconfuse: What sense does that make.

BabyTurtles 11-21-2014 07:45 PM

so did anything important happen this episode?

I don't feel like watching it.
(and I have waay to much homework)

Wasn't there some stupid rule put in place by the FCC that commercial breaks weren't allowed to run products based on the show currently airing?

Wow, that is weird. When the OT was still in syndication and on CBS I recall seeing turtles toy commercials all the time. Same for other shows too, like My Little Pony. I remember pony commercials for that as a kid.

That aside, I can't wait to see this one for the sole purpose of hearing Rob go all out.

What I always do. Thank god for mute buttons. :tgrin:

Well, the car itself is indeed a mutant as some were fearing. Although it's a pretty cool car to be honest. (Wouldn't mind if it caused more trouble later, buuuut I think Leo killed it with the van. lol)

Some bits of character interaction between those that don't get much with each other, as well as some friend-like behavior between Donnie and Casey.

And then there's the chicken...

o.O Never heard that, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's true.
