New Game........PS2 or GameCube?

I'm debating whether to get this for GC or PS2.........On one hand, I'm not a huge fan of the GC's controller layout. PS2 has the classic style. On the other hand, Gamecube has slightly better graphics, and if I get a GBA, there's that connection If it was a 4 player game, that'd clinch it immediately, but it isn't, so I'm stumped. What are your opinions? Any suggestions?

Dinny 08-27-2003 09:52 AM

Ive only got a PS2 but I agree, the Game Cube has better graphics.

cqb101 08-27-2003 10:02 AM

I'm getting it for the gamecube just cause of the GBA hook up and the better graphics. But if you don't like the controller layout, I wouldn't get it for GC.

Karpo_007 08-27-2003 10:31 AM

I own a good PC, PS2 and GC. PC version has of course better graphics, but I generally don't play console games on PC,[Few exceptions, tough] I wan't to play them with big TV and Stereo sytem. I happen to like GC controller better, and it has better graphics/framerate and faster loading times so for me it will be the GC version.

But if you prefer PS2 controller, you should bronanly get that version. The games will probably be almost identical.

If it's got some neat GBA connectivity, such as linking special features with the GBA game, I'd go with the GC version.

See, here's the cool thing:

You can buy an adapter that lets you use the PS2 controller on the gamecube. It's true, it's true!

So, I'd go that route. You get the controller you like, the better graphics and the connectivity to the GBA game.

Ca you get an adapter so you can use a GC controller on the PS2? Cuz, I really prefer the GC controller.

Raven 08-27-2003 11:54 AM

I have to get it on the ps2 because thats all I have :D

I think there are that kind of adapters to. Problem is that the controlls have been customized for the GC controller. If the game doesn't let you change the controlls, then it might be hard.

My little brother has GBA, so if the connectivity is something good, I should get the cable.

Kid Icarus 08-27-2003 01:15 PM

I'm a Nintendo fanboy, so uh.. Gamecube. *nods*. Faster loading speed, better graphics, and in my mind a better controller (it fits in your hands better... and the only button I don't like on there is the 'Z' button). Add in the GBA hook up, what ever thats gonna be, and you just get more out of it.

About the graphics... Gamecube's graphics card was designed for cel-shading, so over all the cel-shading is going to look better.

Mr. Snackpants 08-27-2003 01:30 PM

Get it for PS2 cause GC blows.

Karpo_007 08-27-2003 02:21 PM

Indeed.

Raven 08-27-2003 02:23 PM

 but its so true.

*runs like a little school girl from crowds of GC lovers*

Karpo_007 08-27-2003 02:29 PM

And now it's spreading to...

Dane E5R 08-27-2003 02:34 PM

GameCube crushes the PS2..Sorry. So there's my vote.

Karpo_007 08-27-2003 02:44 PM

I own both, and If I had to choose the better of them it would be GC. But that doesn't mean PS2 is bad. For a RPGamer like myself it's simply a must.

Dr. Doom 08-27-2003 02:46 PM

Gamecube technically is superior hardware to PS2. Just as X-Box is technically superior hardware to Gamecube. When you're debating about systems, there's no point. Nobody's gonna by a really powerful system if all the games on it suck. And nobody's gonna not buy one because they don't like the controller. It's all about what games a system has, that's why I have a PS2 and a GC (and wanna get a GBA). X-Box never really interested me THAT much in the gaming department. And that controller I hate even more than the GC one. The button layout is ok, but the shape is so akward, it doesn't fit in your hand right. But anyway, I digress. This situation throws that rule I live by upside down and kicks it in the ass, cause now I'm actually comparing the hardware as opposed to the software. As it stands right now, I'll probably get the GC version after listening to my own advice. Screw the controller. I got usta playing Smash Bros., Metroid, and Zelda with it, I can get usta playing a beat-em up that's probably a lot easier to control.........

Karpo_007 08-27-2003 02:51 PM

Exactly. It's the games that determine how good a console is. And since I have been Mario/Zelda fan from day 1, my vote goes to GC.

Raven 08-27-2003 02:51 PM

the only resons I think the ps2 is better is because it has the games I like, that was the reason why I bought it.
I dont like xbox because its a bill gates thing and hes the devil  um ya.
I still think the gamecube is ok, cant say much for it, because I dont own it, but I love dthe n64, so I guess the cube is also ok.

Voltron 08-27-2003 02:53 PM

Reason I didn't buy the GC is because its controller looks like something I saw in an ink-blot test, and the X-Box wouldn't fit in my house.

cqb101 08-27-2003 03:00 PM

I, also have both GC, and PS2, and I like GC a lot more. I prefer everything about it. The only thing I like about PS2 it has great racing games, and GTA is soooooo much fun.

Taloniss 08-27-2003 03:26 PM

I'm getting it for GC. I like the GC's controller layout for 3rd person action games, and the connectivity is a plus.

Leo656 08-27-2003 04:46 PM

I have both PS2 and Gamecube, and I'd say go for the 'cube version. I love both systems for different reasons, but I'd wager that while both games will play almost identical, the GC version will look better. And of course the GBA connectivity could increase the replay value, which is what's really important anyway.

Ninja Tiptup 08-28-2003 02:27 AM

Gamecube man, go for the cube! It's TMNT's triumphent return to Nintendo gaming!

jeff the cheff 08-28-2003 01:30 PM

I say both! Cause the ps2 controller really is better. I have only a ps2 and my sister has gba..so im getting it for those two...and i have friends with other systems so ill rent it then play on their systems.

Dr. Doom 08-28-2003 05:45 PM

Well I can't exactly afford getting the same game for 2 systems, nor would I want to.

jeff the cheff 08-28-2003 06:52 PM

If you dont want it for two systems then you wouldnt get the gba gc connectivity...so you should get it for ps2

What the hell are you talking about? Getting it for the GBA, and GC isn't like getting it for two different systems considering the games aren't even gonna be the same.

Dr. Doom 08-28-2003 07:19 PM

Yeah, and plus the fact, I've already stated that I'll probably get it for GC.

He said he didnt have the money to buy 2..I know its a different game but if you get it for both then its still buying 2 games.

cqb101 08-28-2003 08:13 PM

Except it's half the price for GBA....

Dr. Doom 08-28-2003 08:14 PM

That doesn't make any sense. I don't have money to buy two games thare exactly the same because I like the PS2 controller better. that's just a waste of money. But If I'm buying a GBA, which I want anyways, and a game that's different from the Console versions, it makes sense.

jeff the cheff 08-29-2003 01:03 PM

Since the gba version is half the price as other systems..then it would make sense to buy that and a console one. I dont know how much gba games are...i dont buy them

Mr. Snackpants 08-29-2003 02:37 PM

Most GBA games are $40. I like PS2 becuase I think the sports games are better on it, and because I only play sports games, and TMNT of course. My uncle has an XBOX and he loves sports as well, but I hate playing because the gameplay doesnt seem as good. And my cousin has GC and playing madden on that sucks! Its horrible and those stupid controllers make it worse. GC blows

Karpo_007 08-29-2003 02:38 PM

Sigh...

XERO 08-29-2003 02:51 PM

GameCube all the way.

Nintendo is where the TMNT belongs.

MIYAMOTO RULES!!!! 8) 8)

40 bucks for a GBA game? Where the hell do you buy them? I've never seen one gor more than 30 for a brand new game.

Dr. Doom 08-29-2003 04:04 PM

ditto
